I've come to conclude that it's not about any one song. If you want to
be really fair and let her form her own opinion, take a drive with her
one day and just play the entire I&W album. Heck, you can sort of play
it in the background. That's pretty much what Keith did for me. :)

Greetings all. Here's some info I got from the latest issue of
Metal Edge that is relevant here. Some of it you know, some you don't.
Galactic Cowboys: Working on a follow-up to "Machine Fish," due
out in April.
The Queen Tribute Album: will feature JP and JL (singing "Sheer
Heart Attack" and "One Vision). Other notables on the album are Bruce
Kulick and Eric Singer (ex-Kiss), Marty Friedman, Yngwie Malmsteen.
Fates Warning: new album due out in June, containing one 21
minute track. Supposed to be very dark and aggressive, featuring Joey
Vera o n guitar and our very own KM on keyboards. The magazine also sayst
that Kev will have an album out next year
Queensyrche: a live Promised Land vide will be issued strictly
for fan club memebers.
This issue is also focuses on guitar players, and the little
blurb on JP is as follows:
"Attracted to guitar while watching a neighborhood band in action
and inspiried by Iron Madien, Black Sabbath, Rush, and Yes, and later
Steve Vai, Al DiMeola, and Allen Holdsworth, Dream Theater's JOHN
PETRUCCI taught himself to play at age 12 on a cheap acoustuc and studied
at the Berklee College of Music after high school graduation. He now uses
Ibanez electrics, including his signature model and will be heard on DT's
in-the-works- disc, due out in '97.

Hey Fellow Jammers,
I really need some help here. I was informed that the Providence
show was on Friday, December 13 at the Strand. It says that in the DT
FAQ, and it also says that on the Strand webpage. So, I went to
Strawberry's (me and two friends) and bought our ticket vouchers. On the
voucher it says that the date for the show is 12/12. Now this is VERY
VERY bad. It would be my first DT show, and if it is on 12/12, I CANNOT
GO. Please help me here. Is the show on the 12th? Is it on the 13th? Is
it on both days? The ticket vouchers are non-refundable, so if there's a
show on the 13th, does anyone know if I could get the tickets exchanged?
::sigh:: Someone please tell me it's the 13th.. :'(

*Damn*, I hate my ISP... It's been exactly one week since I set up those Marillion and Dream Theater polls on my homepage... I've had 150 visitors since then... But I only got 11 entries in the Marillion poll and 15 in the Dream Theater poll... Most people entered both...
I should have gotten at least 5-8 times as many, but (as usual) my ISP phuqed up again... I was told someone mailbombed himself, screwing up all the e-mail for the rest in the process... (if you mailed me over the last week, please mail it again!)
I'm gonna keep a list of those who entered my polls on my homepage... If you're not on it yet, please please please enter it again :-< I hate to think I went to all this trouble for nothing just because of a sucky internet provider... I'll update the list of entrants every day from now on... If you're not on the list the day after you've entered, then something went wrong again...
If you don't feel like going to my homepage *again*, to sign the form (that took me hours to make) then just e-mail me your top 10, and I'll enter it myself... That's how desperate I am, right now... Just mail me at bredius@globalxs.nl... It *should* be working again :-/ Here are the categories :
Marillion poll : Dream Theater :
1. Favourite Fish/Marillion albums 1. Favourite album 2. Favourite Hogarth/Marillion albums 2. Favourite WDADU songs 3. Favourite Fish solo albums 3. Favourite Images & Words songs 4. Favourite Fish/Marillion songs 4. Favourite LatM songs 5. Favourite Hogarth/Marillion songs 5. Favourite Awake songs 6. Favourite Fish solo songs 6. Favourite ACOS songs 7. Favourite songs
I'll put an update on the polls on my homepage today... Check it out :-)

Yes, the Strand does have all ages shows, and yes, they still sell alcohol. If I remember correctly, they wristband all the Over-21's.
>And, will there be a mini Ytsecon like before the show in New London ?? If >so, could it be a bit more lively this time ??!! Nice people for certain, >but it had the feeling of a morgue.
I had mentioned the possibility of grabbing something to eat at the Trinity Brewhouse before the show, but I didn't get much of a response. I figure, at least if we do that, we'll have something to do (eat/drink) besides talk. :)
So what's up, Providence show-goers? I plan to be at Trinity beacuse I always go there before Strand shows. You may all feel free to join me. :)

No seats in the main area, although I believe there are seats in the balcony. I don't think they're going to open the balcony for this show, though, so I guess the answer to your question is: No - no seats. :)
-----
>and where >is the bestest place to be during the show. personally i had planned on >cramming myself as close to the stage as possible, but i have heard that >the balcony/patio/other spot is the best place to be.
I usually stand near the soundboard, if I can. It stands to reason that if the sound guy is adjusting it so it sounds good to him, then near him is where it'll sound the best. :)
Seriously, I try and stay back from the stage because I like having a little room to move. Plus, for some reason, DT always has the sound WAY WAY too loud for the venue they're in, so you get ear-bleed if you get too close to the stage.

Hey--I was in a band in HS and we covered Pull Me Under and The Silent Man. How did it sound? Like a bunch of HS kids playing on Fenders in a gym. It went ok, we could hardly keep from ytse-gizzing all over the place though, I still smile every time I listen to the tape. It was for a fundraiser, the kids loved PMU, the old folks turned off their hearing aids. =) Our band was/is called Aphasia. We had no permanent singer--look up the word in the dictionary and you'll see how it fits. =) For 2 extra credit points, where did we get the word Aphasia?? =)

I agree totally, I'd recommend this to anyone who is into _HEAVY_ (is that big enough.. :) high quality doom (VERY melidc), with choirs chanting away in great arrangements, and keys that further give it another dimension....
The production is also superb, crisp and clear, no muddiness at all, all instruments are audiable and very cleverly mixed, so this is a must have for anyone into metal!!!

Yup, you guessed it.
I had the pleasure of converting 2 "Rush, Yes, VH, and Pink Floyd" fans onto the DT sound. These are the type who comapre Alex, to Eddie, to Dave, among others. I figured that all the elements were there. Well now it's time to add JP to the list. Perhaps the top of the list. It happened in my car during a discussion about unique time signatures. They were sold on the band, then sold on JP when they heard the UAGM solo. guess how many times we replayed it? I can still hear 'em now "...how the hell does he do that?..."
Later,
