hey.. this is pretty cool... i just flipped on the local old metal station
and they've changed back to their "real rock radio" slogan they ditched a
while back... but not only that- i heard old Queensr=FFche, Kansas, Rush,=
     and
Van Halen with nothing of suckage factor in between! this rules!... now if
only they'd play this stuff during the daytime :)
    its a start!

As you all may know, it has almost been a year since ACOS was released, and
I think it's about time we all pull out our copies of ACOS. Now, I know,
some of you people that are "spoiled" enough to hear the previous versions
wouldn't want to get our your CD of the "definitive version" but, just do it
and think back to the time when you were really psyched that this was coming
    out.

Just lemme share my ACOS experience with you all (no moans and groans please).

I had to re-write the damn thing 3 times, so please, don't skip over this. :)

I had been a DT fan for quite some time, and had IAW and Awake. Then I got
a computer in early '95 that had AOL on it. Of course, I signed up (what
did I know then?) and went looking for information on my favorite bands. I
looked for all the DT stuff I could get from AOL and the limited access of
the internet they offered, and joined the Ytsejam. Well, I was on for a
loooooooooong time and never posted (because us AOLers are lame). Anyway, I
can remember the day that it came out just like it was yesterday. I
remember sitting through each class looking at the clock on the wall
(ticking away...) just waiting to get out of school. Bell rings, I run like
a madman. Straight to Breast Buy (oops!). Ran in. Saw ACOS. Soiled
myself. Plunked down the cash. Went out to car, popped it the discman, and
pressed play. Soiled myself again. :)

Now on to part 2. No, this dork isn't done yet.

Like I said in my last post, I'm compiling quotes from the #ytsejam IRC
channel (which is on the irc.dreamt.org port 2112 server) and posting one a
week. If you laugh at these quotes, what are you doing sitting there? Come
in and join us, dangit! To get rid of some of these quotes (believe me,
there's a lot!) I'm going to post a few, along with one that will go in the
place where the weekly quote will be.

Remember kids, that server address is- irc.dreamt.org port 2112

"The Dyslexic Cow Dog says Oom!"
            -TheCowGod (Dan McCormack)
"If your dad wacks you to school, because your in the same grade, you might
be a redneck. Woops, walks you to school!
            -Sledge (Joe Guiles)
"The CD said "Awake", so I cranked it."
            -Pellaz (Paul Cashman)

One quote will come once a week. Enjoy!

I remember that MTV thing last year, that was funny...it was
done for a queensyrche song and also for a megadeth song as
well. I think both attempts failed but they must have had to
delete emails cause ALOT of people knew about it.

MTV are a bunch of Hyprocrites anyways.

    Hi all,

It's been a real long time since I've posted here :) But, I just got
Working Man (finally after searching for weeks) and I thought I'd post my
    thoughts on
    it :)

I guess to sum it up, I'm very happy with it. I like every song on it,
which is pretty unusual for me :)

I even like "Natural Science", the one with Devin on it :) Although, I
don't like his singing, I really wish someone else had done vocals on it.
    But the song sounds great!

I think the song I'm most pleased with is "Closer To the Heart". Fates
Warning did a great job on that one. I mean it started playing, and I
thought I was actually listening to Rush! Well, till the vocals came in. :)
While Ray doesn't sound like Geddy, he's an incredible singer. So I have to
    say, that's my fav.

I, of course, like "Jacob's Ladder" very much too. John and Mike sound
great (as usual) but I was also very impressed with Sebastian Bach!

So, for anyone who doesn't have it yet, it's a good buy. I am a Rush fan,
definitely not like others here, but listening to this cd has really exposed
me to more and I am very interested in going out and purchasing more Rush
    cds :)

Well, talk to you soon, or see you on IRC. Bye :)

    Irene

Well, no. I actually wrote this BEFORE the irc. Paralells was _NOT_
saying that. He was saying that "he wouldn't listen to something like the
new Metallica 'cause some kid down the street thinks it's their greatest
album." I don't want the Theater to get "trendy", but i know they're
    going to.

    Buenos Dias Amigos!

I was Interested to read about the guy who loved Lars Ulrich but had no
respect for MP. I dont know if you get Kerrang widely in the USA/worldwide but
when DT did their Ronnie Scott's show it got an excellent review and the
journo made a point of saying that he'd heard "Damage Inc." played properly
for the first time and asked Lars to take note! I forget the name of the
lady(?) who replied a day or two ago when I mentioned lack of Awake gigs in
the UK and said we were lucky to have the RS gig. Do you know how big this
club is? Unfortunately I couldnt get down to it but due to DT's huge set-up
and a fair number of journo's quite a lot of true DT fans queing up outside
(having travelled long distances and with tickets) were told there was no room
    for them.
Sorry about me mentioning Superior as if it was a new subject but ive not been
on the jam long and my pyschic powers are low at the moment so if I rehash
stuff please ignore it and dont e-mail in saying its been done before!
On that point I heard "Showdown" yesterday for the first time and if the rest
of the new CD is like this its going to be the ultimate DT CD.
I'd be interested to know when other jammers get new DT CD's do they listen to
it the whole way through first time and remember nothing(like me!) or do you
concentrate on a track at a time and loop it?
Sorry to bring up the Smurfs again(!) but they were on "Top of the Pops"
Friday night and they give snippets of info about each artist/band. Apparently
the Smurfs total career CD sales are 5 MILLION! My god! Is there no
Justice??!! One good bit though was that "Rocket from the Crypt" were on live
    in the studio.

    Till the next Time

I have been lurking for almost a Year since last time I posted something
on the JAM but I bought a CD some days ago that I'd like to recomend all
You out there to check out:

       DALBELLO - Whore

If You have heard her previous album 'She' You'll like this one, this one
is a bit more up todate, more aggressive and a real kicker.

Wohoo! I got on "the list" this time. Dale's only about 3 times more
frequent, too- I still have hope...

Dale's gonna have some serious competition for next month's #1 slot.
DreamNDay@aol.com is back, *and* that good ole Steve Johnson "Automatic
Reply" is gonna have about 80 posts...about 3 or 4 more days until he gets
back and reads his Jams...and realizes the almost hell he put us through.

    Good afternoon,

            I have some bad news.

The cervical spine injury sustained by my wife (Sue to those
of you who know her through IRC), will require a couple of months of
    extensive physiotherapy to resolve.
As the sessions are fairly expensive and she will be going 4
or 5 times weekly, we will be very short on cash.
This will have two immediate results.
Firstly, I will not be attending the CON in October. I am very
disappointed about this as I had hoped to meet all of you loonies. If
I could be there I would.
Second, I may suspend my net account for the time being. While
the cost is only $30 monthly, Sue's physio will be $250-300 weekly and
we may need every spare bit of cash we can find.
If you attempt to e-mail me and find that the mail bounces, I
will have closed my account temporarily.
My time will be in short supply over the next couple months,
so if you do need to e-mail me, please be patient while awaiting a
    reply.

    Take care,

    Rick

Unfortunately, I missed the TFE premier. Sat., though, I heard
Finding My way come on the radio, and I was like, "wait a minute...".
The next song they played was CATS. I thought it was awesome!
It didn't have a catch melody (much the complaint with TfE), but
it didn't matter, because it sounded so *full*. The music was
cool. Can't wait 'till Tuesday (pun intended).

Anyone going to the Oct. 11th Satch and Co. show in Concord (CA)?
Grinder? (Hint, none of my friends (losers) seemed to interested
in going when I mentioned it to them this weekend, so I'd rather
    not go by myself).

And my biggest 'jam peeve lately (like anyone will care):

Maybye someone should be appointed to choose the best post from
either side of the debate, "Do We Want DT to Go Mainstream", and
put them in the FAQ since we've discussed it like 100^100 times
before! I'm starting to feel the same about the "Should DT Do A
    Double CD" debate. Thanks.

Hey, guys. I respect the MTV thing, but let's think really hard. Do we want
that really lame pooor excuse for a television station that used to play
videos but now shows more stupid shows like singled out to publicize Dream
Theater so that the 45 I.Q. and under kids can make them the next trend?
Don't get me wrong, I love DT and want them to be popular, but not that way.
Rush earned their success and they're not a trend but they are selling out
arenas and having platimum albums. They didn't compromise and they never sold
out, at least to me they didn't. They are not the flavor of the month, yet
there success is great and lasting. Can we say that about any of the 90s
bands? What happened to Blind melon, you don't hear much from them anymore,
do you? Flavor of the month. DT will be around for a long time, their success
grows with each album and I know that they have their equivalent of 2112 or
    Moving Pictures in them still.

The one thing I hate about Jacob's ladder, since Irene brought it up, is
Sebastian Bach's harmonies. It may take some getting used to, but I don't
think they belong there. Listen to the first verse especially. And not for
nothing, the keyboard solo needs more power to it, maybe a better sound, or
just pumped up in the mix, but ... the song is still great.
