Greetings.
Random takes on shit:
- not incredibly impressed with TFE.
- terribly disappointed with new Eric Johnson. Sounds like he's
gotten old and listens to way to much of Marty Friedman's Megadeth-
era solo albums. And wtf is up with that poetic shit on the back of
the liner notes?
- WILL be attending G3 at the Hollywood Bowl. Am quite anxious to
see Stevie Boy. Am sort of looking forwadr to seeing Erica Johnson
(only for the Ah Via stuff). Will only applaud Satriani if he plays
the good stuff from Surfin'. Actually looking forward to hearing KWS
though. I dunno, the lineup is quite disparate but at least it's an
interesting strategy. Makes lots of money, too.
- Hoping the new DT isn't all in 4/4 (I'm dreading the time when they
get old and aren't inspired to write interesting music. Not that
interesting must be in 7/6 or something...)
- Trying to figure out how to get my guitar rig into my dorm room so
as to PLAY MORE KISS TUNES!!!!!!
Later,
Glenn

Boys and Girls,
Although I have not picked up Superior's Disc, "Behind" yet, I feel since
it's received such a wide range of endorsements from the list members that I
should do my little part to help bombard Noise with e-mail to get them a US
deal. To this end I snagged the e-mail address for their Los Angeles office:
And for our European jammers, the Berlin office:
Also here is there web site:

Lets see what we can do to get more of the music we want to hear in the States!!

Does anyone have a complete tour listing?
I checked the 3 web sites www.vai.com www.satriani.com and
www.ericjohnson.com and if they had dates they weren't near as complete
as what the jam has said...
I want to know if G3 is coming to DC/Baltimore...
Do Dreamnday and Damon have to constantly compete for most freqent poster?
Boy do I miss the dog days of summer...
I picked up a Kansas cd that I had never seen or heard of before. It is
called In the Spirit of Things. Steve Morse plays on this one but so far
I can't really find any songs that really stick out... It was 4.99 too...

I've noticed a few jammers saying they had a great time on recent trips
to Europe.
Actually, Europe sucks, apart from Amsterdam.
I agree, it's nice for the first couple of months . . . but as soon as I
hit my first birthday, I started hating it. 21 years of living in this
gruesome continent has turned me into a bitter and twisted person.
And cool bands never tour here before the States (apart from Queensryche,
Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Marillion, etc)
But, like I said, we have Amsterdam :-)

For those that haven't checked out Mike's update recently, I'm reposting
this portion of it:
>** What is Van Halen "Summer Nights"?
>** What is Live "Public Affection: Death of a Dictionary"?
>
> I regret to announce that both of these projects have been
>permanently canned. The managements of the two bands have become aware of my
>projects and have stated that they vehemently oppose production, and will
>pursue legal recourse should I proceed. How or why they found out is not
>important, but suffice it to say I can never do a boot CD of any sort that
>relates to either of these two fine bands. I'm sorry.
Aren't you a little worried about this, Mike? I mean, I doubt that
anyone here actually took the trouble to write to any management or
label executive, so I can only assume that a web-savvy lawyer or
other big honcho surfed on in and found your update page. Don't you
think you should revisit your decision to have a permanent web page
with this info? (ie, one that's up long enough to show up in search
engines and the like).
It seems to me that now that you're branching out into other artists
like Tori and Metallica, that the potential is much greater for certain
anti-bootleg individuals of various bands to shut you down like what is
documented above. Have you thought about being a bit more inconsipicuous?
Of course, I don't mean to give unsolicited advice here, but I hate to
see your projects snuffed like this (when you think about it, all it
could technically take would be for one member of Dream Theater's label
or management to leave and get replaced by one who is vehemently
opposed to bootlegs, no matter what Mike Portnoy or the band says, and
that's the end of our beloved CD projects).
Was just wondering if you've given any thought about this, and perhaps
ask for some reassurance that everything's still fine-and-dandy. =)

Their guitar player kicks ass, and they even have a >bass player you can hear because he isn't buried under six or seven guitar >overdubs. The drummer is quite good, too. The singer is great. So what, they >sound like ELP. I love them. And ELP is heavy keys too, and they are a very >well-respected rock band. Why are keyboards such a bad thing? Are guitarists >mad that we can do more with our cheesey synths than they can? Are guitarists >jealous because they can fake their way through on their instrument and we >have to become proficient to get respect? Are guitarists mad that there are >more people to slander the name of the guitar like most alternative >guitarists today than there are keyboard players?> Why are keyboard so >disrespected? Somebody tell me, really want to know, because I am sick of >keyboard bashing.
Yeah, I agree with you. Cairo's quite a band, really. It isn't as though there's just one damn guy in the band -- they ALL can play. Earlier, I said that they sounded like Yes, Marillion, and ELP to me. That still holds true. They have a more contemporary sound, but if you're into those kinds of bands... maybe I'll add Camel, IQ, and Genesis to that list, you'll probably like Cairo. So there's MY recommendation, for whatever that's worth.
>From: dantemm@erinet.com (Dan Temmesfeld) > >GGTN is a great start. I'd also try Out of the Silent Planet (their first) >or Ear Candy (their most recent). Their others- Dogman, King's X, and >Faith Hope Love- are all great too... > >Here's my ranking of KX albums: 1. OOTSP, 2. GGTN, 3. EC, 4. Dog, 5. KX, 6. FHL
Seems like I'm mostly in agreement with our esteemed Mr. Temmesfeld on this issue. My list looks a wee bit different than Dan's, though. In order: Gretchen Goes To Nebraska, Out Of The Silent Planet, Ear Candy, Faith Hope Love, Dogman, King's X.

WWW: www.noiserecords.com email: noisela@noiserecords.com
I have already sent an email to them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't had any response to my request for information on the Birch Hill tape. Can anyone provide a copy?

Yow, I just went on my lunch to Media Play and Circuit City to drool over stuff and add to my wish list. Found nothing at MP. CC had the European LATM and TSM single. Damn! I have been looking for the German LATM for months-can't find it. Today, there it is and I'm broke :< Actually, I could buy it but I'm ordering PT from Mike Bahr instead-decisions, decisions. LATM was $16, TSM was $10. Well, tomorrow's payday and if I don't eat for 2 days and walk to work.... Maybe I should have some cheese with this fine whine....
Oh yeah, they had working man, too and a collector's (dare I say it) Metallica Load with a 120 page booklet and the CD included 3 outtakes not on the real release. This was only $11. Anybody know anything about this?

1. Did you ever feel like no one reads your posts? Sometimes I mention a band or review a release, and then a week later someone asks if anyone likes or has heard of the band I just mentioned. Makes me wonder what the point is. Read the jam or unsubscribe. 2. Noise E-mail They sure do have an email address. It's <noisela@noiserecords.com> I don't want to see a question in a week asking if there is an address or not. 3. Multiple Posts Think about what you have to say, then write your post. I think it may be understandable for Damon to post replies because a. he is in ack mode and b. his speech synth would make it hard to quote material from various sources into a coherent post. I have seen these machines, and they aren't pretty. But, damn, Dream n Day, this isn't a contest on who can post the most. First off...I know there's a signifigant Type O Neg fan base here, if so, has anyone picked up the latest "October Rust"? Personally I think it kicks ass!
What does anyone else think...Good, Bad, Ugly?
My only complaint would be that they're not as angry anymore! :(
I mean, even Josh had something in the liner notes...
Either way...October 3 -> Desert Sky Pavilion!!!!!
Now, a few remarks... @)

Ummm...Hey there, buttnugget! If you've got something important to say to him, his e-mail address is at the top of his post. If you have anything to say THATS IMPORTANT, say it here, otherwise keep it off the 'jam.

How about a contest...who can post the most profound TFE quote?
