Sorry to shout, but I need some help. I'd love to go to the Conn, but I could really use someplace to stay. If any jammers living in the area have a couple meters of floor space to spare, I'd love it occupy it for the night. I'm trying to avoid the Marriott, just 'cuz money is tight right now. But if anyone wants to split a room, I'm open to that too. E-mail me privately if you can help me out. Otherwise I might not be able to go and I'd miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity. Thanks.

Love that album. Anyone know if they have any others? I've looked, but Transcendence is all anyone ever comes up with? Send in private e-mail. Conserve bandwith.

BTW to ask a stupid question. What is bandwidth anyway? (Private mail, please!) Maybe it should be posted on the jam. A brief definition maybe, to keep people from posting useless information (like this) on the jam so much. (I do like the VM though. I've only figured out 2 of 'em though. I was just reading some story that I am supposed to read for English class tomorrow and I came upon a part that said:

"Six O'clock on Christmas morning! And all for what?"

"Well, isn't for the honour of God, Aunt Kate?"

"I know all about the honour of God, Mary Jane........."

This is of course from "The Dead" by James Joyce. I had read the source of the sample from the DT FAQ but I had forgotten until that cool moment in the story reminded me.

Well that is my useless input for the day. Hope you enjoyed.

About the subject good or bad music............ There is actually no bad music.......Only bad musicians. And since 90% of them are quite bad, it leaves only the 10% good musicians. Maybe I4m out of my leag here, but I think (and I have my own opinion, right?) that progressive music makes about 5% of the good music since only good musicians are able to make their music interesting. I must disagree with the statement that syays 80s rush isn't prog. listent to the following tracks:

1980 Permanent waves: Sperit of Radio, Free Will, Jacob's Ladder, Natural Science, and maybe Different Strings 1981 Moving Pictures: Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, Limelight, In the Camera Eye, Witchhunt 1983 Signals: Subdivisions, Losing It 1984 Grace Under Pressure: AfterrImage, Kid Gloves 1985 Power Windows: big Money, Marathon 1987 Hold your fire: Force 10, Time Stands Still, Mission, Turn the Page 1989 Presto: Super conductor, Show don't tell

if I got the dates wrong, oh well, I am going from memory. I probably missed a few tracks, but these are songs that are definitely not poppy, and they sound really camn prog to me. Not flaming, just disagreeing.

For the record, I can mix anything, cuts, fades, stops, drinks. You name it, can mix it. I just like fades better. Pull me under to me isn't a fade, it's just fucked up. And I love it for that. Took me a while to time that ending right, though.

*** FINALLY I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS! ***

I'm very pleased to announce that I have finally found somebody who can produce the 'Carpe Diem' cd's for me while my cd-writer is being repaired.

I have to pay a certain amount per cd, but at this time I'll do anything to get my cd released. I'm really sorry for all the people who ordered 'Carpe Diem', but there was just nothing I could do about it.

So (finally) expect your 'Carpe Diem' cd within a reasonable amount of time. The first cd's I will ship, will be the BIG orders for Stephane and Masa. After that I will do the other orders.

Again, sorry for all the trouble,

Nice to see that I'm not alone in have the same feeleing about 'Whore', I had to pull out Promised Land and start to play it again to confim the feeling, not that it is similar in music or concept but rather it has the same 'aura' (deep shit..man), might be due to some eastern influenses on both records. I understand that the record is not out in the states yet, is that true? It's an advantage living in Europe sometimes ;-)

Hello everyone! While I was out of town this past weekend I finally managed to get a copy of WDADU. I've listened to it a few times and IMO it is an excellent album! I think 2 of the best songs on it are "Light Fuse and Get Away" and especially "The Killing Hand". Love the storyline in that one! What's up with those pictures on back, though? They look like they're from some Hot Licks instructional video or something. ;)

I also picked up Test For Echo, and this one rocks too! I like the heavy feel on a lot of the songs like "Driven", "Dog Years" and the title track. Does anyone besides me think that "Time and Motion" sounds a lot like DT? Like the way the time signature shifts around all over the place. Also, i don't think there's anything wrong with the lyrics on the album. I think some of them are pretty cool, actually. :)

Anyway, time to get caught up on the 20 or so 'Jams currently residing in my mailbox. :)

    Hi all

I must be getting old: when I was a kid, a fade out was something that happened to your favourite pair of Levis when your mum washed them too hot...

Once again, welcome to the RUSHOJAM (not everybody can have my taste [or lack thereof, as some of you might say]).

    Neil's Dictionary Of Musical Terms

DEFINITION OF PROGRESSIVE MUSIC: when we can call each other bastards and tell each other to fuck off. For further information and references, please refer to the last 10 or so digests. Fuck off, you bastard. My pleasure.

Last week was a good week for my CD collection and a very bad week for my bank account. Why am I telling you this? Because you may be interested and also because I bought some Dream Theater (who?).

    Neil's new stuff:

Cemetary - Black Vanity (good solid goth/metal from Sweden) Sadist - Tribe (great Italian band who play prog/metal/cross-over with jazz influences - the guitarist plays keyboards and guitars at the same time. Very good live.) Paradise Lost - The Last Time EP Queensryche - Empire (are we still allowed to mention Queensryche here, or will the Ytsejam Thought Police delete my account?) Waltari - Yeah! Yeah! Die! Die! (the subtitle says it all: death metal symphony in deep C. A real soprano, a symphony orchestra and a death metal band all together. Possibly the weirdest CD I've bought for a long time. Thanks for the tip, Mape) Dream Theater - Lords of Sound (see below)

'Lords of Sound' is the best Dream Theater boot that I've heard so far. Good sound and some interesting stuff on it. But at the risk of opening up old wounds allow me one question: is this one of the gigs where James was having one of his "bad nights"? From what I've heard, seen and read on the Jam, he seems to have a lot of them. Don't believe me? Then listen to what he does to Metropolis on this CD. Still, a good buy all in all, and I picked it up for a mere DM 40, or approx. $ 27 for you stateside Jammers.

    Nuff said.

stay safe and happy listening Neil Gallop (nga@software-ag)

    Currently playing: Sadist - Tribe

Still looking for Lemur Voice in Germany. Any other Kraut-Jammers having the same problem?
