What pictures are those? My CD has none of those pictures! Actually, I've seen this release, and the pictures are the same that you can see in the booklet. Is that one of those new releases of WDADU? Is there any difference from the others?

Don't you responders feel the least bit silly responding at all? And then when you do you basically repost his whole diatribe? C'mon. Jacksons are still better :) .
By the way, any guitar players use Carvin amps? I just bought the Valve master 100 head the other day and I love it. It was the only all tube amp that I could afford (its my first real amp after spending 7 years with a Crate G20xl) but I think it is even better than Marshalls or Boogies. Hell, Steve Vai and Dave Sabo both use it. Any comments?

I don't bash Nirvana because they are trendy, I bash them because they suck! None of them knew how to play their instruments and became famous. As a seventeen year old who has been rigorously studying the guitar and music theory since I was ten years old this makes me furious. Is that a good enough reason? I do agree with the idea to stop putting music into genres, though :).

You must be really really stoned or something. Those listed Rush albums (actually no Rush albums) sound anything like U2 or the Police. They are definitely not pop albums. You have no credibility since you also said that you liked Counterparts and like Test For Echo. Thos two albums are in the same vein as all the Rush albums you say are pop. You are so full of it...
I can't wait to see what the big time Rush fans on here have to say...

At least we know what kind of person, all this crap is coming from. This Fredrico jerk obviously has no class at all. I mean being glad that someone killed themselves is beyond any decency. You may not like Kurt but he did leave behind a kid and a wife (although nuts herself) and who knows who else.
I am not a big time fan of Nirvana (I do have Nirvana cds, I have over 500 cds total), but I do like a lot of their songs. Kurt had a certain stage presence that is hard to find in today's music...
All this stuff this Fredico is posting doesn't belong on the jam.

You know, I can't think of a progressive band I listened to in the 70's/80's that didn't either become more popular or fold. Guess it's the nature of the beast. Well, OK, maybe King Crimson :)
> You know, they did not care about music quality, they were only interested in > making easy money. They wanted to become milionaire.
Big money goes around the world (sorry, couldn't resist).
After talking many times with my brother (a professional jazz musician who had many chances to SELLOUT by making a music video when MTV had just arrived on the scene), my take on it is that Rush's (and Yes/Genesis/Tull/Kansas/Floyd/ etc...) desire to remain true to their ideals (and I believe they have for the most part, they've just changed/matured ) was offset a little by the human need to put food on the table :) If you recall, those groups weren't really raking in the big bucks early on...
> And one reason I really love DREAM THEATER is because DT'S music > IS AS GOOD AS OLD PROGRESSIVE RUSH STYLE. And I hope DREAM THEATER > WILL NOT BECOME A COMMERCIAL BAND AS RUSH BECAME.
I hear ya. I went through the same stuff with YES a while back. I was just happy that got back together, ya know?
I guess have a slightly different defniition of 'selling out'. To me it would have been selling out if they didn't do well enough at the outset changed gears so that the FIRST stuff they came out with was POP. They made several great albums that were the furthest thing from POP. Shit, I hung out with several friends who were into Rush as much as myself (we all had 2112/Hemispheres. I was the only one who had Caress of Steel. Even a friend who as into as much as I <only> had Farewell to Kings at first. Everyone else we knew that was into Rush would mention Spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer, Working Man as what they knew from Rush at the time. Face it, we're a select bunch that'll listen to the 'other' songs on the albums (where others only fear to tread :). Fanatical is when you skip over a song because you can't wait to hear the next one. Skipping over Closer to the Heart (a great song!) comes to mind as Cinderella Man was quite the obsession there for a while in high school :)
What's the point, you ask? Hmmmm, let me dream one up....I honestly think that Rush (or DT) doesn't owe anyone a thing or have anything to prove. They already have put out enough great stuff. Yeah it'd be nice if the new stuff continually got better and better.
Rush doesn't need my forgiveness. I don't feel like there's anything to forgive anyways. From what I heard from Alex on the radio, they seem to be returning to some of the harder edge they had back then. I like that!
Don't take any of this as a personal attack, it's just my perspective on it. You bring up some good points.
> SIGNALS, GRACE UNDER PRESSURE, HOLD YOUR FIRE, POWER WINDOWS, PRESTO, > and ROLL THE BONES...
While I agree with you that the older stuff was more chock full of great stuff, I can still find a couple of songs on each of those above that I really like as much.
> LONG LIVE PROGRESSIVE ROCK !!!

Oh yeah, this is a Dream Theatah list, almost forgot...
Well, I've been working this buddy on DT. He's into various things (King Crimson, Sara McGlaughlin, U2, Hermato Pasquale) so I knew there was some potential. Well, he got some new Dominator X1 mutha speakers (seriously, you could probably get by using these things for stage monitors :) for the soundblaster on his PC and needed to test them out. We fed them samples of To Live Forever, Eve and Pull My Undies :). He then said "I think I'll have to buy first DT disc." I gave him a big Atta Boy. For desert, it was Chroma Key. Another winner.

I guess I've spewed enough for one ytseday. I'll go read the other 10 ystejams to catch up from Friday to today :) Keep 'em comin', that's what I say. I want Ytsejams till I hear the bearings on the disk start to go :):)

Hello Jammers. I got this e-mail from a friend of a friend, you know the story. Give it a read if you have any credit at all. YOU could be the next one that gets picked. That would really suck. I will only post this only once so as not to waste bandwith.
I gave the WDADU cd to the guy I work with that wanted a copy. He liked the music. He didn't say anything about Charlie's vocals. He didn't mind that I made him pay the $11 for the disc without asking him if he wanted it first, either.
Read on......G.
