Not really. They do club tours (just saw them about two weeks ago), but they also do support gigs so they can play to a larger crowd. They're also promoting a new cd to be released 4/28 here in the States called Cheap Trick (it's already out in Japan)

Man, I hate to see stuff like this. We're generally so tight-knit as a group online, that it's just that much cooler to meet in person.

My recommendations for all jammers going to the upcoming shows:

    1) Wear any Ytsejam articles you have. Your Awake tour shirt doesn't count, because everyone has one. But only we have Ytsejam shirts. It makes finding other jammers much easier.

    2) If you don't have any Jam gear, wear something noticeable, and tell people about it. For instance, "I will be wearing my green UVM baseball cap that I have worn to every Dream Theater function there has been. If you see a green UVM cap, I'm wearing it. Come say hi."

    3) Meet right in front of the stage about 5 minutes after the end of Metropolis. Most of the crowd will have dispersed away from that area, it won't be very noisy, and it's (supposed to be) extremely visible from the whole club/hall/arena/whatever. Eventually, you'll be a group of people, and that will make you even easier to spot.

    4) Talk to people, especially people wearing Jam shirts or such other notables like green UVM hats. A simple "Are you on the Ytsejam?" will suffice. Either the person will say, "Yeah, I'm so-and-so," or will say "Huh?", at which point you can ignore them and move on to the next face in the crowd. (Unless he/she is particularly attractive or famous. :)

Dream Theater events (particularly concerts) are far more fun if you can spend them with other jammers. For instance, one huge collection of voices screaming "PLEASE DON'T GO!" is far more effective than many voices dispersed evenly through the crowd, and you won't feel so awkward if you're not the only person around that does it.

    > About Derek : > > He looks like he walked straight out of a bad "Starsky and Hutch" > episode (is there one?)

I didn't know there were good ones. :)

    > > BUT HOLY SHIT THIS GUY IS PHUQING AMAZING ! > > I mean, Kevin Moore is, was and will always be brilliant, but I'm > certainly not going to have any problems getting used to Derek !!

    Seeing is believing.

    > Here's the bad news (I think). James mentioned they would go back > to the US and record the ALBUM right away. No mention of a double > album or EP. I'm not ruling out either one, but I think the EP is > the way they will go. I'm sure we'll know pretty soon, though....

Don't sweat it. I inferred from Mike that everything will eventually be released in one way or another, whether it's a double, or a single and ep's, or a single and imports, or a single and fan club cd's, or whatever. Remember, this is an INFERENCE and not fact. Just my gut feeling.

Hope everyone gets to enjoy the upcoming shows with other jammers! -d

I've been subscribing to the mag for about 7 years now, so I know what their reviews generally are like (at least their more major reviews. I haven't heard many of the indie bands they reviewed). And it was the ad in HM that compared TM to Kansas, Rush and DT, not a review. The band paid for the ad to be put in the mag, that wasn't necessarily the opinion of the magazine (I haven't heard much of TM, so I have no opinion of them). They do have some reviews I agree with, but not always (like nearly any other mag). BTW, for any Saviour Machine fans out there, there's a good interview with them in the latest HM.

Just a quick, stupid question: How in the hell do some people get ASCII email messages completely right justified without adding any extra spaces? I see this every once in a while, and whenever I do, I can't help but pour over each line and look for that extra spacing that logic tells me MUST be there.

<sigh> I've been working way too hard...

    >all of PL, with full band Someone Else as encore #2 Acutally, unless you saw a special show, it wasn't really the full band version. Eddie Jackson wasn't on stage, and it sounded more like the album version, even though Michael Wilton did some nice leads and Scott Rockenfield did light percussion.

    >Spreading the Disease (??? not sure on this one) That was in the show.

    >Three other pre-Mindcrime songs They would be "NM 156," "Screaming In Digital" and "Neue Regel." I wasn't familiar with _Rage for Order_ at the time, and I've heard that the latter two were done only in part, but I'm not sure.

    >I think, however, the reason they played all of PL was because >it is a concept album of sorts. Also, there were only ten new songs ("9:28 AM" doesn't really count as more than the intro tape). I'm also wondering if they played all of it to promote it, since sales were a little down. (They didn't do as much of _Empire_, but most of the people at those shows had the album already.)

    >I think they won't play all of HitNF, >but probably at least 8-9 of the 14 songs I wouldn't expect all fourteen in one show, but I hope they rotate them a little. (This could be just wishful thinking. Van Halen and Aerosmith do this, but it seems like most other hard rock bands just do the same set list every night.)

To everyone who doesn't ignore my posts (all two of you): I intern at a college radio show, and my DJ will be gone this weekend. So the show is mine. Not that anybody will listen, but I thought it would be nice to have Dream Theater as the artist of the week (he has a featured artist on his show each week). I'm open to suggestions of what to play and/or how to approach it.

I DON'T MEAN TO START A RUMOR HERE, but could you possibily be referring to Kevin Shirley? He's a really hot producer right now, having worked w/ Silverchair, and the new ones from both Journey and Aerosmith. It might be him because after the petition, the label would be more likely to shell out the big bucks to pay for a name brand producer. Oh yeah, in case you didn't catch it the first time: I DON'T MEAN TO START A RUMOR HERE.

Hello, Hmmm... It seems to me that since the rush-mgr on the Rush NMS list banned all scalping of tickets, the scalpers moved here. Case in point:

    >Got 2 Rush tickets for the May 25 show at the Woodlands-Mitchell >Pavilion(ahhh yeah!) in Houston, TX ....20th row, left side, 60 bucks >each.... anyone? anyone?

You're forgiven this once, but do it again and I'll put a pox on your name...:-) >I just have 3 numbers for ya, Andy: 128 :) NORMAL?? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Okay, I'll hold back the pox cause it's in the same post. :-) I must admit, 128 is an abberration of modern infrastructure that still baffles me. But it does not even compare to NJ 287: there is a point where this road, marked south, actually goes NORTH! And vice versa, of course. That is still messing with my brain! Not to mention that the Parkway seems to have the slow lane all the way on the left and the fast lane on the right. It's kill or be killed in this state, and that's before you even step out of the car... Oh... And did I mention: NEW ENGLAND RULES!!!! Okay, none of the sports teams, just the region...

Stodgers, Drew, Andrew... but never Andy
