Man, how *dumb* is that? I mean, "Gee-Sack" was so easy to say. Now it's
"Peein' See Ack"? "Pink Ack"? Bah. Next thing you know, they'll rename

    Hey all!

Don't know if anyone out there likes Live. I had their "Throwing
Copper" CD, and wasn't too impressed. There's some interesting vocal
mixing, almost as if the vocalist is the second guitar in this band.
But nothing really reached out and grabbed me about them... just
    another alternative rock band.

Well, I listened to their latest release "Secret Samadhi" at
Blockbuster... and I have to say they've surpassed the previous album,
and actually show a lot of pizzazz. Maybe it's less produced than the
last, not as mixed and remixed - more of an authentic sound. I
understand that they ROCK in a live show. "Lakini's Juice", the first
single off of the new album, simply rocks out!

If your tastes include some alternative bands such as Soundgarden,
Pearl Jam, or even R.E.M. - you'll enjoy this CD.

Oh well, enough of that. Now I'll probably get flamed for talking
about something other than prog on the 'Jam... sue me.

Can anyone tell me about the new album by SYL?

I picked up the "heavy thing" album mainly because I'm a HUGE
fan of Devin's singing on the Vai album and on Working Man.
I was pretty disappointed with the SYL album though. He never
SINGS on it - mainly just screaming. Also the music was really
close to being pure noise. Does the new album have any actually
singing, similar to his work on Sex and Religion?

Is the musical style any different?

    Thanks!

a background on devin- he hates melody and hates guitars and hates all things nice almost. he wasnt too interested in doing the vai album, except that he wanted to see if he could get steve vai to run around in his underwear in the snow. regardless, devin got steve to run around in the snow in his underwear, but i'm afraid you wont find much singing on the new SYL album :)

Humm.. I heard about a band called WIZARD, but I've never listened. They sound like Angra (I don't know! Just passing the info) and they have 2 CD's. The japanese jammers might know'em.. :) Well, Dr Sin is pretty cool too. Not the vocals, but the instrumental. Very very good. About Angra, I went today at some CD stores to buy my own copy of Freedom Call (that I am listening now.. WOW!! It's amazing..) paid 12 dollars at Empire Records. I don't know.. only the brazillian version have those 2 bonus acoustic tracks recorded at FNAC, France? At the same place they have Holy Land for 9 dollars, BUT it's crappy. For some print error (wtf!) the 4th track keeps keeps keeps... keeps... POW! What about this: a boot video at that Unplugged show, featuring Time Machine! Any european jammer have seen this alive?? I wanna know! :) Btw, it's in Sao Paulo, if you want more info email me privately.

DTC:. At the same place they have a list (that of course I signed) to bring DT to Brazil. HEY BRAZILLIAN JAMMERS!! TODO MUNDO NA GALERIA ASSINANDO A LISTA!! :))

    Hey there,

Sorry to post this in this list, but I couldn't think of anywhere else where I could reach guitar/bass players for help. :) I have a Marshall Valvestate 8040, and from some time the "boost" channel is not giving me the same good sound as before. I think it has something realated to the valve (a 12AX7? I don't feel like opening the cab right now :) ), maybe pretty old (uh, 2 years?). It's not a big problem now, as I'm basically using the RP-12 for the distortion, but sometimes I like to hear the Marshall sound and remember when it was the only thing I had. :) So, if I am going to change them, do I need to buy exactly the same model of the original one? Or, if I don't find them, can I use some other? Thanks for any help. ------------------------------ From: <CNG@tcco.com> (Chung Ng) Subject: Angra / Brazilian imports I've got a co-worker who is coming back from Sao Paulo, Brazil in 3 weeks. Yah. That's the one I've got. The only prob is that Geoff fades in and out at times (cuz of how he holds the mike I bet) and for some reason they botched the end of I Am I and started Damaged before it was time (KTS did this, not the band. :) It's a quality boot, tho. Yah. But I think if DT DOES make a vid for this album, they better not put their faces in it. I think they probably get alot of flak from the wankers who think of them as a hair metal band. Just show Derek. :) If he wears his stocking cap and plays some Phat dance chords I think they might have a chance on MTV. :) Especially if they got Alicia Silverstone to be in the video. Any video she's in sells for some god-awful reason. (Upes, religion thread. :) Strange how people will buy an album cuz they think they can score with the chick in the video if they do. :) Hell, if they like the music, then I guess that's another thing. :)

    > waiting for Precious Things and my Queensryche boot "Operation: > Promised Land" if I decide to order that one. But I already have PT

NO! STOP! :) I bought that Op: Promised Land before I bought Saints and Sinners and Track 1 is all screwed up on it. My CD player can find track 2 though most others I've tried flat out won't. Then it skips during the two most important songs. Silent Lucidity and Someone Else? It may have just been my copy, but I'll just give you that warning.

Funny, ya know. My light bulb just went out in my bathroom last night. I hoped you used a Soft White GE bulb. Not too bright and long lasting. What kinda bulb cover do you use anyway? <g> ;)

Hey, anyone got that Monopoly game by Westwood yet? If so, mail me, I wanna stomp some butt over the net with it. :)

Is it me or did Bela Fleck write the soundtrack for that? :) I swear I hear Spunky and Clorissa in there somewhere. :) "Idle hands are the Devil's advocate.
