A friend of mine told me tonight that he heard somewhere that the new
Metallica album would be called "reload."

Thought that was cheesy as hell.

So I'm at the second night of the Prince shows and the show is
spectacular as I thought it would be. Prince is in a great mood
again so he was really on. He says goodnight to break for his
encore. Just as he's coming back on they set up a small amp and
another guitar. I figured maybe he was going to do an acoustic
song or something (his next album is acoustic). All of a sudden he
comes to the mic and says:

Ladies and gentlemen - Carlos Santana.

I *literally* thought I was going to pass out! You see, he dedicated
Purple Rain (towards the beginning of thw show) to Carlos and I
heard some people talking about Santana earlier. Well, Carlos is
a local musician and I hadn't heard any news today, so I thought he
died or something because when Prince did his dedication he got
all emotional and stuff, so I was enjoying the show, but I was also
bummed because I thought Carlos was gone. When I saw Carlos
walk out on stage (I was only 10 ft away) I thought I was seeing a ghost.

Anyway, it was a *much* better tonight than the night before even though
it was about :15 shorter. Maybe by some really weird twist of fate
    someone
sneaked a camcorder in there and taped it. If that's the case I'll
    eventually
    get it.

I think the :Nightmare Cinema: song that got mentioned in the DT Bonn review
(all members on instruments they usually don't play, doing "Perfect Strangers")
should get onto a Mike Bahr bootleg CD sometime in the future. Definitely
    something very, very interesting!

Your friend failed to mention that it is the tentative title. Does "Mouldy" or "F.O.B.D." ring a bell? Those were the early working titles for "Hero of the Day" and "Until It Sleeps", respectively. Don't believe everything you hear ar read until the new album comes out. I think "Puppies on Acid" is even more cheesier...

I'm afraid they have no choice but to record 60 minutes instead of 74. It's true that they have an extra 14 minutes, but none of the new songs are short enough to fit in the remaining space. :)

The big difference between DT's situation and SP's is that Siamese Dream was a much more sucessful comercially speaking then Awake or ACoS was. So the Pumpkins had more say in what went out. It ain't fair but that's the record business.

I met Jason at the Fresno show and asked him about the new album and he said that they had recorded some drum parts and guitar parts and that was it. But when I saw them at San Jose they played Devil Dance and James said it would be on the next album (a really heavy fucker too).

Gee, I dunno. Let's see what happens if we add up track times. Yes, I'm aware that these times are from the demos, and not true track times. But let's suppose the numbers are accurate. Here's one possibility of selections:

    1.Raise the Knife (11:15) 2.Where Are You Now (7:15) 3.Take Away My Pain (6:35) 4.Cover My Eyes (3:20) 5.You or Me (5:55) 6.Burning My Soul (9:00) 7.Lines in the Sand (13:40) 8.The Way it Used To Be (8:00) 9.Just Let Me Breathe (5:25) 10.Peruvian Skies (6:30)

    Total time: 76:55

This would fit real nice on a CD. I'm sure there are other combinations of songs that will fit nicely like this. Just a thought. :)

Well, I got back from Amsterdam. I had such a good time! The concert was awesome, of course.

As well as having fun with The Guys (Mark, Rudy, Bart, and Bart's friend whose name I can't spell and can barely pronounce), I met a couple of other jammers at the show . . . Steffen from the German fan club, and Dennis from the Dutch fan club, I think. Great guys. Having a Ytsejam t-shirt definitely helps!

So where the hell were you, Itchy?!?!?!? We all waited in front of the stage, on the right, after the show. A few other jammers found us there, so I'm sure you could have too if you'd tried hard enough!! :-)

    > From: Mark Metzger <mmetzger@bostech.com> > > [snip] NL which is a very fun country to visit if > you enjoy having a good time.

    Oh yeah ;-)

    > First and foremost, thanks to past and present jammers who got me tickets. > Really decent of you.

Hear hear. Rudy van IJzendoorn, you are my hero!

    > Finally, hello to Bart, Rudy (rip), Graham and Cob - had a lot of fun > watching fat Frank sing Wild Thing, etc. !!

I had nightmares about it!!! What an incredible evening :-)

    > To Graham - beware of all that cola. Could be a sign of a problem. > Have you fallen asleep yet ?? Should have gotton right back on the horse.

Yup, you're right. Maybe Frank would've seemed sexier if I'd been back on the beer . . . ;-)

You mean he'll make DT sound like Aerosmith and Journey? :)

I had floor seats for Poison once... probably not quite the same thing.

I had floor seats for Steve Vai as well, but the less said about that the better.

    On to other things...

I'm looking forward to being indirectly thanked in a band's liner notes for the first time (I'm assuming we'll be acknowledged...). I'd never heard of DT when A Change of Seasons was released, so therefore I wasn't an 'online Ytsejammer' or whatever it was they said in the notes - I lent my copy of ACoS to my brother, don't have it with me...

There hasn't been a flame war in the jam for a while (touch wood).

    That's about all.

On to the Sept/Oct. release of the new album, and even more cries of "When will they tour Oz??" from yours truly. Beware, IRCers!

    Muahahahahahaha...

D-Man assured me they'd come down eventually (didn't you, D?). This should be in the FAQ, it's a frequently asked question :-\

Of course, I'm just an attention-grubbing antipodeon (or whatever that word is).

Anyway, anyone know of any decent bands that are going to tour Oz this year? This was supposed to be my Year of the Concert (I've been to two gigs this year, my first since U2 in 1993) but it's not shaping up too well.

    Ah well...

I think I need to rest now...

    See yis!
