I heard that they tried to do "Anybody Listening?" due to the audience
continuously yelling out the title of the song, but it didn't work out
too well, so they kind of just stopped.

No, not Vermont. I live in a little town called Armpit, Mary--I mean
Arnold, Maryland. :) Down here, I believe Politically Incorrect is only
    aired on Comedy Central. :/

    Hi all,

a few days I heard about the fact Fates Warning are going to tour in
    Europe.
My question is, does anybody know if Kevin Moore will be on bord?
And do they have a support band ?
By the way - has Dream Theater a support band while touring in the
    next weeks ?

    Thanks for your efforts

    Hello,
Just for those who care: Queensryche debuted at 18 on the album
chart and Sign of the Times is checking in at #6 on Mainstream Rock
    Tracks.
And Collective Soul dropped out of the Top 20 albums from #17
last week, but Precious Declaration is the #1 Mainstream Rock Track.
Good to see to good bands getting at least a degree of commercial
success. But QR at #18? It debuted at #1 accoring to Rolling Stone last
time! (Don't have a Billboard report) Where's the support? Or are all you
guys protesting their change in sound?

     Alright!

I can say something for ya.

About their 1st album, they had just one record deal at first,I mean their
only contract was with JVC-Victor (Japan) and released their first album.
After almost 1 years later, they could deal with European record co. So they
decided to remix some songs from their 1st album for Euro market. So this
is the difference. And e.p. "Evil Warning" is 4 track e.p. including all
remixed songs and edit version of Wurthering Hights (s.p?) for Japanese
fans. Original version of this e.p. was packaged with Tee-shirts (album
    cover artwork).

About "Freedom Call" Jpn-version. As you might thought, this e.p. is
packaged with Tee. So much expensive priced one.

     Take Care.

I believe it's Alta Mira, not Alta Myra. I've bought tons of
stuff from them. They are a great company.

Actually, the taping of the show is April 4th. Nobody knows when the show will actually air on TV, yet. I'll still be taping it though. :)

    ---

Does anyone know where I can get some more new FW sound clips? I got the 60sec Real Audio file that someone (Dr. Mosh I think?) mention a few jams ago.

    ---

The subject came up a few weeks ago but I never jumped in. Yes, I WAS lucky enough to meet Mike and Chris from Qryche at the Record and Tape Traders in Towson a few weeks ago. My friend and I got there around 11am and had about 20 people ahead of us. They were giving out all kinds of cool free stuff - giant album flats, nice sized stickers etc. You could also buy the album insert ahead of time and it was signed by all 5 members! Cool!!! (I wasn't able to get Scott's autograph 2 summers when they played a softball game against the guys from 98 Rock - he was down in DC watching tennis. What a pansy. :) )

The band showed up almost an hour late, alot closer to 2pm. They got lost or someshit. By that time, there were several hundred people behind us - possibly a 1000?? Does anyone know if they guys stayed later than 3pm? They were only supposed to be there from 1pm-3 but since they showed up an hour late, i would hope that they would stay an extra hour and not turn the fans away.

    ---

I FINALLY got my hands on the Superior album!! I decide that I was tired of waiting for Dream Disc to ship it to me. I ordered it on December 9th and it STILL hasn't shown up yet. I checked with the guys at Knights of the Round and they told me it was in stock so I ordered it from them and had it in my hands less than a week later. I didn't cancel my order from Dream Disc though. I'm just gonna wait and see if it ever shows up. I'll keep ya posted.

The album rokz nadz!!!! It's like Images & Words with special guests Yanni and Dimebag! Great job Bernd!!! I LOVE the begining of "Why" where the uptempo piano part starts and the kick-ass guitar riff comes in over top of it. WOW!!

Are there any other albums available from these guys?

    ---

Does anyone know when the pictures of the "Fix" t-shirts will be added to the web site?

I think a major reason that PL opened so well is that they had decent airplay with I Am I, and people knew it was out there. I personally haven't heard Sign of the Times (which I'm pretty sure is the first single) anywhere, so that might be a major reason.....plus no "Bridge" either, but I don't know if that single was released before the album came out....

I whole-heartedly agree with this (even though Pat wrote it :P) Sebastian Bach is vocally trained for 10+ years, and he has a WIDE range of vocal ability - his work on "Jacob's Ladder" on the WM tribute is great, and his voice has something that a lot of other vocalists can't really pull off cleanly, and that's a clear sound (when he wants) that is so powerful that it just kicks your ass....he's definitely one of the consummate rock vocalists out there, and not only is this my HO, but it's pretty much a widespread fact in the biz (just look at how many tribute albums he's doing out there right now...)

And > the scary thing is...they like this Mtv spoon-fed garbage.

This is an issue that you have to see from other perspectives as well. You are in a band... you are a musician. Thus, you are in a minority group in the vast community of music listeners. You hear things differently... like "Wow! That riff kicks ass! How'd he get his alternate picking so clean?!? I've never heard a fretless solo that sounded so perfect! That drummer had a three part polyrhythm going on at once with the keyboardist's minor arpeggio melody!" That's not how it works for everyone though. Some people like DT, and some people like Iron Maiden, and then there are people who don't care. Some people don't seek out new music for themselves. It's been this way since before MTV. The reason MTV spoon feeds people music (from the viewer's perspective) is that it's so convenient. If you're inundated with the same music over and over again, you begin to grow accustomed to it.

    > We need to do something about this.

Try anything you like. The only thing we really can do is show our friends and loved ones the music we find to be superior, and hope that they can see the virtuousity shine through as clearly as we can. There is no way to influence MTV, unless you can pay more than their sponsors. Petitions have tried and failed to get more variety on MTV... they don't want anything but money, and there's nothing wrong with that... it IS a business, after all. As far as MTV is concerned, we'll probably be forced to wait until the trend turns our way once more.

    > >Someone has the .sig of JP saying that it occurred to him one day that he > >ought to not make sandwiches all his life (something like that) > > What's the story behind this?

In, I believe, a Guitar World, before they went to shit, there was a short article about DT. This was before Awake... I think it was in 93. Basically, JP was talking about how he was trying to make ends meet by working at a deli, when he realized "Hey, I know how to play guitar... why not teach?" and from then on, he focused on teaching guitar and playing music. Sort of "Saw the Light" if you will. :) - Chris

Ya know what- fuck the goddamn RIAA for busting all these bootlegging companies- pardon my language, please. These bootlegs put more money in the mouths of recording artists than is being taken away. Lets put it this way- I've spent over 300 dollars on Savatage merchandise including imports, every studio album, t-shirts, etc. and I own one Savatage bootleg- Mentally Yours. I don't see what the big deal is if you are an avid collector of the band and buy everything you can or most everything before getting bootlegs. The most I would've bought is two or three more Savatage bootlegs and for every bootleg I have, I pay twice as much for the bands merchandise. Same goes for the Dream Theater boots I own, the Paradise Lost one I own, the Seven Mary Three one I own and the Queensryche one I should own if Tunnel Records don't rip me off. Okay, sorry, had to vent!! (By the way, I'm not looking to start a flame war because of this- I just needed to get all this off my chest).

As for Dream Theater going rap, imagine all the homies in Dream Theater with all the rap clothes on..Pull me under, pull me under, biatch, I'm not afraid cuz I live in the ghetto with my homies and my fellas..

    Hey all...

Well, I know this thread is kinda dead, but I was listening to 'The Graveyard' by King Diamond the other day, and came across some lyrics that need to be shared. (Obviously, the character speaking has just been decapitated.)

"The view is so very strange, so strange from here/Facing the floor is hard, when you're nothing but a ball/...I'm just a head on the floor/My body is over there, but I am still right here..."

In response, Bombay Vindaloo was, in fact on a Guitar for the Practicing Musician vol.?? I discovered this on that one Muze machine they have at all Best Buy locations.

I tried to hear that noise on SDV, but I just couldn't do it. I thought I had pretty good hearing, too :( Well, maybe it's good so as not to distract me or something. Yeah, that's it!
