Hi everyone!
How many of you watched the DT show on Viva yesterday? I think it was great,
the quality was better than on my LiT video. I like the new version of A Crack
in the Mirror, it sounds much cooler than the previous. I'm curious if any of
German Jammers recognized themselves on that video. That would be cool when
some of you would write to the jam "that guy in the middle of first row, that
in the black shirt, that's me!"

I can agree with the fact that you would like to see more of DT's
songs live but common, some of the covers they do are just too
incredible. As far as I'm concerned they could play just about any
cover in their 'style' and I'd stand there amazed while they did it.

True, although whereas Metal Hammer was definately +ve ( 8/ 10 ) the Kerrang review seemed like begrudged praise along the the lines of ( not a direct quote)

YES PLEASE! Then we'd have proof that Portenoy promised to do more than just 1 date in the UK next year. ( I'll believe it when I see it)
Actually, Mike did seem genuinely impressed with the response from the London crowd. I remember Dave Mustaine saying ( in London in October ) that music bizz. people in the US tell him - Don't go to the UK, they all listen to dance music etc. and I think DT may have had this opinion too.
The show itself was incredibly powerful. I mean after MP's complete flipout at the end of LiTS, he played the most aggressive BMS you could imagine - awesome! - totally blew away the album version. For me, my favourite part of guitar came in the 1st song - the solo in the middle of LiTS. That is just the most emotional bit of guitar ever, and watching and hearing JP play it with so much feeling...
Voices - well...the crowd were so loud singing along during the "I'm lying here in bed, swear my skin is inside out..." bit, that I couln't even hear La Brie!
This was the DT that we expect. - enough said.

Hi!
I don't know if it already has been mentioned, but at the first gig of the European tour in Milan there were nearly 8000 people so that would be the highest number of people at a DT headliner show ever. This was also the show that was recorded for a possible release in Japan.

I just read in a magazine that during the year before he joined DT he didn't play keyboard but only guitar! They also wrote that he played guitar for Alice Cooper and Kiss. Can anybody confirm this? In Wayne's World he's playing keyboards, isn't he?

Hi whoever is into Iced Earth, I've been a fan of this band for many years, I picked up their 1st release back in the time when I went to the record store and listend through everything in the 'news'section.
I happen to have met the guys personally. They are very friendly and all I can say besides of that I really like their music (kinda melodic speed metal with a lot of the power of the metal from the 80's but fresher than for instance Iron Maiden) support this band because they deserve it, give it a try and listen to one of their CDs. My personal fave is still 'Night of the Stormrider'.

Okay, I've seen Loreena McKennit's album, Book Of Secrets, at my local record store, and before I fork out $30.95 for it, I was wondering what DOES it sound like exactly ?
There seems to be a bit of debate as to whether or not it sounds like Enya etc., so what other influences are there that can give me some point of reference to go on ?
Not necessarily other influential bands or songs (although that would help), but stylistic influences. I'm just kinda curious because I'm usually a bit of a skeptic when it comes to seeking out new bands/artists.

Maybe it confirms what those of us in the "older Rush still kicks ass" camp having been saying. Notice I didn't say "is better than newer Rush." I ain't even gonna go there! By the way, heard Free Will the other day on the radio :) I bet many of the DJs out there (around Boston at least) are of the age that they grew up listening to a lot of the vintage Rush.
And I personally know at least one major Rush fan on this list (you know who you are :) with whom I went to the TfE tour; and he loved the new stuff live, but couldn't stop talking about Natural Science after the show...when he was able to actually speak that is :)

All this talk about TSO (which is great), but how come no one has mentioned the Steve Vai X-mas cd called "Merry Axemas?" This record has some awesome new takes on seasonal songs.
For example, Steve Morse does an awesome job on Joy to the World! Totally cool! Satch is on it and I was actually impressed with Kenny Wayne Sheppard doing a pretty cool version of Rudolph...
As for the DT action figures... LOL!!!
My question is this, will they have "swivel arm METAL grip?" :^)

Hey all, My acid-jazz band just played an opening gig last night at the HoB here in Chi-town. The place was pretty packed and people were way into the groove. One thing I couldn't get out of my head before, during and after the show was the fact that I was tracing the footsteps of OFB who was there barely a six weeks before!! I love this venue. Everywhere from the green room to the stage sound board where Portnoy hurled his sticks. And to see this sea of head-bobbing, groovin' and dancing with the balconies........ Who else has been able to play the same stage as some of their musical hero's. Isn't it just an amazing feeling?? Steve

With the FW show here in the Atlanta area coming up soon, I was curious: those of you who've been to FW shows so far on this tour, how are the crowds behaving? APSOG is a pretty quiet, contemplative song at times, and it could be absolutely ruined by a bunch of people making a lot of noise during the quiet parts. How's the noise level been so far?
I realize that your mileage may vary, but I was just wondering what the shows've been like so far.

That wasn't my fault. That was the most flawless rendition of Natural Science I've ever heard. *Ever*. :) Still, I would have loved to hear anything - anything at all - from _Presto_.
