I couldn't agree more, the first time I heard them was in the car heading to see DT in TO in late October. (whoa 2 months already, but still so fresh in my mind) Anyhow, I go to my friend Nick, did Peart joined another band?? Who the hell are these guys, needless to say I got the album instantly. To me, the drumming sounds so much like the beginning of La Villa from Rush.

Happy New Year to every prog fan across the world.

Out of lurking for 3 short points and a question.

First off, I really liked the lyrics to Wintery Skies. They where a riot. (I also like PS). Lighten up!

Second, I enjoy the sig files, too. (I don't remem. who said it, but you're right. It's an interesting insight into other jammers.)

    Third, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JON!!!!! @----;----

And FINALLY, is there anybody else in Utah?? I'm getting pretty lonely out here for musically intelligent life.

Paradise Lost have changed alot of the years. They started out as a death-metal band with their album Lost Paradise and is currently a catchy gothic band. Draconian Times was released in 1995, I think. In my opinion this is their best album. All tracks are cool. On this album there are highlights on every track, they stay heavy and very catchy. Their latest release One Second is not as diverse as Draconian Times, but is nonetheless very good, and is probably one of the better releases in 1997.

You should definitely buy Draconian Times. I haven't heard it, but people say that Icon sounds similar to Draconian Times, so you should check out that as well. Most die-hard PL fans dislike their newer stuff - their favorite album are Gothic. Yes, this is a very good album too, but I don't rank it as high as DT and OS. Gothic contains death-vocals and some female vocals which are, by the way, very cool. DT and PL have clean vocals. Good production too, at least on One Second. Give them a try!

    Best regards, Einar

Some people may be disappointed with the x-mas disc...but remember, in the immortal words of Butthead--"IT WAS FREE, ASS-WIPE!" Mike probably spent hours filtering through stuff in order to edit down to 76 mins. I, for one, am pleased with it to a degree because sometimes it is interesting to see what goes into making an album, BUT -- it is probably going to be a major bitch to look for the studio versions of CME,STM, WAYN,TWIUTB, & RTN. If "the gods" bless us in ' 98, maybe we could get lucky and see all 5 tracks on one disc (????!!!!!!?????). Aside from this, I was in the record store over the weekend, and mentioned LTE to the guys, and as far as they know, it will be a Jan/Feb release (no exact date for sure). Also, I'd like to know more about the Impact project, if anyone knows more than what has been posted already.

    My top 5 for 1997:

    1) Dream Theater---"Falling Into Infinity"

    2) Pantera---"Official Live:101Proof"

    3) Fates Warning---"A Pleasant Shade of Gray"

    4) Sevendust---S/T

    5) Bruce Dickinson---"Accident of Birth"

I just found out that Paul Gilbert's new CD 'King of Clubs' will be released in the States around Mar of '98. It was released in Japan and Southeast Asia in Nov and is doing well. It has some definite pop influences as well as a healthy dose of scary guitar.

Well, Paul Cashman was the only fellow Atlantan available to head up with me to the DT Jaxx show on Saturday. But I wanted to make a "last call" before everything's finalized...

If any Jammer is interested in going to Jaxx, and you live off of I-85 in SC, NC, or yes even VA :) please e-mail me privately. Get with me asap so I can reserve a ticket for you at the will call office and set up our pick-up schedule. And please leave your phone # too and I will call you asap!

Even if you're a few miles away from I-85, as long I can get concise directions to your house or meeting place that's fine!! The more the dreamier :)

We will gladly drop you off back to your house or car after the show. Yeah, we may just as well be heading off after the show (and a few sigs and pics with 'da boys! ;) Any VA Jammers know of any cheap motels around the area in case we decide to stay the night?

Thanks alot and hope to pick up a few Ytse-hikers! Happy New Ytse :) Brian

I go to school at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. The sound is spectacular on this thing and it plays like a dre= am. the EA20 has the equis gold preamp as opposed to the equis silver that th= e 10 has, but the 20 also has the slimmer body which I'm not a fan of. What Chris forgot to mention is that at this particular show at Jaxx this Saturday, screaming "BAFU!!!" will not only get you the attention of other jammers, but of BAFU!!! itself as well.
