Attention Boston area jammers!! This Wednesday night, February 13th, at
the Mama Kin Music Hall on Lansdowne Street in Boston, MA, there will be
a musical event like no other.

                                    Wacky.
                                      :)

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, I actually got a gig! The event is
a Boston University Local Student Union event and there will be several
bands performing. I will be playing one of my tunes solo (along with my
sequencer, goin' clinicstyle...) and with a band playing a bunch of
cover tunes. The song I'll be playing is new, and it's about 7.5
minutes long, chock full of the kinds of bells and whistles that DT fans
like. Or so I hope. :) If you'd like a preview of my stuff, point
your browser to http://acs.bu.edu:8001/~bwherry/ and follow the links to
    the music page.

    To recap:

Wed., Feb. 13th, Mama Kin Music Hall, Lansdowne Street, doors at 8:30,
    show starts at 9:00.

Hope to see as many of you as possible there! If you have any
questions, feel free to email me. Seeya!

    Brian

You're right about that. I have a tendency to drink way too much Pepsi, and when I go on just water for a few days I notice an immediate improvement - fewer problems on the higher end of my range, better sustain, less coughing in the middle of a line because there's too much phlegmn my throat.

I just wanted to publicly thanks Steve for not blaming this on the drummers who insist they play loud "for the tone, man!" I'm sure that is what he REALLY wanted to say but didn't, since *I'm* on the list. :)

    Hey all,

I realized that the Italian sound clip in TTT right before the instrumental interlude is from Cinema Paradiso. If anybody hasn't seen this film, go out and rent this film! This film was won Best Foreign Film for its release year. It is about a boy who grows up and has a fondness for cinema. His older friend, Alfredo, who runs the movie projection teaches the boy to run it too. They develop a bond of friendship over the years. Alfredo has a tragic accident that makes him blind, thus saying in the movie "I can see much clearer now I'm blind." This film is warm and nostalgic, and a real tear jerker, so you might need some tissues at the end. I know many people who cite this as their favorite film of all time. It's a classic.

    Walter.

    BAD! BAD! BAD!

Forget the socially unacceptable bullshit, I know a lot of people who smoke say it's great for their stress -- whatever, who cares.

I don't smoke (I suspect I would enjoy it if I started) because I have heard what it does to people's voices. Women in particular (think of Marlene Dietrich) -- shudder!

ObGrody: Coupla days ago I got a catalogue from a company selling "life-like" simulated lungs (healthy and nasty cancerous versions), among other things one would expect to see in a school nurse's office: breasts with lumps, breasts without lumps, testicles with lumps, alcoholic livers, mouths and tongues with cancers from oral tobacco. GROSS!

Okay, so we get to the point where we notice that David Gilmore still has a very nice smooth voice and wonder what HE's been smoking... Dunno. It would seem to be drying and therefore you'd make more MUCOUS to make up for it, which makes you sound like a COW lowing. Is singing really something normal for the voice to do? It feels SO good when you get it right, even just going ah-ah-ah-ah up or down the scale, whoa-oh-oah, oh-oah oah, whoa oh oahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! (I love that part of LtL!!! Peg it every time!) but when you're sick, it sucks rocks and there's nothing worse than bad singing. I don't know how Alanis Morrissette copped a grammy.

    sorry. It's late.

Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills -- Pantera Last Caress -- Misfits or Danzig (Either way, Glenn Danzig) So What -- Metallica (original band unknown to me) Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills -- Pantera Startin' Up a Posse -- Anthrax Fagget -- Korn Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills -- Pantera Megadeth -- Liar Megadeth -- The Conjuring

    Almost anything by:

Danzig Slayer Morbid Angel Marilyn Manson Little Richard John Tesh Adam Sandler (not a joke here)

Hope that helps. Sorry if I OFFENDED anyone here.

Um, my *original* WDADU CD says (c) 1989 MCA Records, Inc. Not '87. My Images & Words CD says (c) 1992 Atlantic Recording Corporation... Let's see, 92 minus 89 equals 3. Not 10.

I think some reasons that Tate's voice has declined is the following:

1.) He's getting older....there's probably some physiological reason for this, but I've seen it a lot - the older you get, the more difficult it is to hit those highs....

2.) From what I understand, he smokes as well... if that's the case, then that's another significant reason for it....

Anyway, I still think that he has an excellent voice....

Al Balkiewicz vocals, Half Naked (like that makes my opinion any more justifiable)

Jamlings, Got the new Spock's Beard last Friday. Noticed that they are now on Radiant Records. I think this is their own label as the catalog number is 001. They thank MP in the credits. They have added another keyboardist name of Ryo Okyomoto (sp?). This adds a little depth to this album. I haven't had this long enough to really compare it to The Light but I like what I hear. Incidentally, I got it through LaserCD.aol in 12 days after I mailed the MO. In contrast, I ordered Purpendicular through BMG a week prior to ordering SB and I still don't have that :<. My luck it'll come in wrong as has been done before.

Roy Thomas Baker- also produced several Journey albums.

IME Scenery & Fish- Anybody know which song(s) Alex Lifeson plays on? Credit is given but not specifically where. They also give credit to Dream TheatRE. Start calling them U Mother Earth :>

Oh yeah, If you have any of the SB albums, ever notice how clean and clear the bass is? I think DT should have Neal Morse produce their new CD. Neal is the main front man in SB and produces their CD's. Listen to Alan's bass-Myung should be as clean and clear so I don't have to strain to hear him. just a thought....

    Wilmo

P.S. DT in the studio in March? This a rumor? I'm tired of the JL leaving rumors-I think he has a great voice.
