Yeah, but that's because Charlie Dominici sucked...DT still had to prove
something...ie, that they could sell records. And it was not even close
to TEN YEARS ... check your CD liner ya knob!

We've come to snuff the roster!!!!

    With some great skiing :)

I'm interested in the apparent connection between DT fans and Mountain
Dew. Anyone want to share the history of this cultural phenomenon?
Perhaps DT could dew a song during which Mike's drum set is replaced
with cans and 2 litre bottles; as he plays, the shearing stress becomes
too much for the containers and the audience is showered by the precious
    juice...

    > I posted to the jam because I know some sick individuals find me amusing..

Careful, I resemble that remark :) I don't want ANYONE to unsubscribe,
by the way. Once you enter, YOU STAY! Skadz will be implementing this
feature in the next software upgrade

And in a few somewhat related stories...

    > Can't we all just be dicks together?

I could be wrong, but the women in the group might prefer other
    options...

    > To be perfectly honest, I don't know who hurled the first dick.

    Adam? :)

And now for something completely different:

The radiator in the office just uttered a cool harmonic! I felt awful
having to get facilities down here to re-tune it, 'cuz it rocked nadz...

    > I'd hate to see Dream Theater get any heavier than they already are.

I'd like to hear 120VAC directly through the speakers. International
jammers, please substitute approriate voltages and frequencies so as not
    to damage equipment :)

Regarding the Dream Theater clothing and recognition:

Yesterday at the local Ytselunch, I bunch of young ladies (9 year olds
:), didn't understand what "The Fix for 96" on Jeremy Hallum's shirt
meant. I wanted to show them the track marks on his arms, but thought it
a bit much for the little maniacs :)

I've spoken with a friend of mine who is a graphic artist and we
    pondered the following idea:

I'm curious if anyone may be interested in DT underwear/lingerie. Now
picture, if you will, the stories which might come forth...

Mike's into boxing, so why not a pair of DT boxer shorts for the
    holidays, for example :)

Other examples might include the Innocence Faded line stone washed
    undies,
and the Erotomania line of edbile undies and I guess the flame-proof
Ytsejam starter kit would be in there as well..

    Suggestions, anyone? :)

    Regards,

    Jon

Seriously. The caramel coloring <and sugar> coat your throat and give you
phlegm, much like the residue left by dairy products. Plus, the caffeine

No, drums are a naturally loud instrument. The only reason drums are
amplified is so you can hear them over the guitars! :P

His voice is only smooth because he's been smoking God-knows-what for so

    has just ALWAYS been smoky.

Just reread my post and got the address wrong on laser's edge. It is
actually lasercd@aol.com. These guys are fast.

And I forgot to mention, I hope like hell DT doesn't settle on
producers and use Prater again. Personally, I like the band's
personality through instead of monotonous triggered snares,
over-produced vocals and buried bass lines. Sorry, but I don't care
    for his work.

There are some issues with this. Before we acquiesce to spew all
of the foul black fith from our cd collections at your mother, can you
explain in a little more detail what the purpose is? I don't want to help

What's the deal with this? Hostility! Don't take it out on a

    > For all of us non drummers, what are "triggered drums"?

A trigger is a little sensor that works very similarly to one key of a synth keyboard. When the drum is hit, the sensor sends a midi signal to some form of sampler or sound module, which in turn sends out a sound. This is used extensively by live drummers, because it's very hard to replicate that "great tone I had last week that the Vic Theater" when you're playing Bob's Beef and Burrito Live Music Night. It's used to give you the sounds you want without sitting around tweaking your mic positioning and drum tunings for hours. Drummers can tell you how much your drum head will retune itself when you go from sunny warm California to cold snowy New York.

Take Care everyone. Stop smelling the roses and START PETITIONING Elektra! eegmail@aol.com is it? I've sent my letter! Politely insist that they get their act together!!!

Right now I'm watching an actual Rush video on MTV. Not just a Rush video, but an obscure Rush video for Distant Early Warning. I mean I would expect Tom Sawyer or Spirit of Radio or The Trees. Granted, it is on M2, but it's still an event of note. Question for Rush fans, I know p/g is the name of the main Rush IRC channel and I see it on Neil's drum kit. What's the significance?

This is in regard to the Darkest of Winters post by Rob (IdleMinds@aol.com)...

You make a deliberate attempt to imply that I have deceived the buying public by not including Ronnie Scott's gig on this CD. That is absolutely untrue, and I don't appreciate the implication.

I made repeated announcements, LARGE announcements, VISIBLE announcements, here on the Jam, in public newsgroups, and now as a PERMANENT fixture on my web page, that the Tapestry disc (the Ronnie Scotts gig) was cancelled at the request of the band, and that I would be doing Darkest of Winters (from the Home for the Holidays shows) in its place. Furthermore, I offered to refund Tapestry orders instead of carrying the payment forward to TDOW, and in some cases I have done just that. I also offered to let people use their Tapestry payment toward any other CD I had available, and many took advantage of that offer. I have done nothing even the slightest-bit dishonest, and I believe I handled the unforeseen cancellation of Tapestry as well as anyone could be expected to handle it.

Also, I was in contact with band management last night about the delays in the album release, and I have to say I understand a lot better why we have all had to wait. I can't say much because my sources were pretty tight themselves with the info, but I can say that it's not the band's fault, and it's not the management's fault. Furthermore, the personnel changes took place at the label, not at management. There are a lot of obstacles in place right now for the new album, and any one of them alone isn't too tough to surpass, but all of them simultaneously has made it very difficult for the band to make any headway. I especially want to emphasize how stressed mgmt is about getting this thing done and finished, because their job is involved in handling what happens when there's an album on the shelves, videos to plan, radio stations to contact, and a tour to plan and execute.

Mgmt has promised to keep us up to date on the web site as this ordeal continues. I want to point out with this message that when _I_ say something and it turns out to be wrong, I'm the _first_ one to willingly correct myself, and fortunately most of you Jammers exhibit the same degree of integrity. If only that could have rubbed off on Jeremy Haynes... :)

I can't help but totally agreeing with Jazzmin here. I recently quit smoking myself, and I really notice that when I sing, my voice is getting clearer. It's just great not having slime in the back of your throat, so when you sing it sounds just awful. Just thought I'd mention this, cos it really struck me.
