Finally, I have an official info from the French record company. Midnight is
no more in Crimson Glory! Always these fucking human problems. they have a
new singer, who sings in a very high range, but according to my friend, it's
not (and by far) as good as it was with Midnight...
I'm so sorry for them, and also for having given hope to the CG fans on this
list.

Just received Power of Omens demo in the mail. It had an apology for the
delay written on the envelope, which I thought was nice. It wasn't even
late, by my standards. But enough about me.... :)

This demo is well worth getting! The vocalist is, as someone already
mentioned, a dead ringer for Mr. Tate. The drummer is the first thing
that jumps out, playing across the beat, under the beat and even upside
the beat's head. Not as heavy as DT, but very progressive...

Has DT ever covered 'Last in Line?' James would do the vocals justice.
And, of course, JP's guitar work would redefine justice :)

Anyone have any hints about how to get through the Ryche game? I just
find it hard to figure out where you are, what you are supposed to do,
and what you have done since it lets you do the same things over. I just
find this game unlike any other game I have played and it just seems
annoying to me. I've had the game for awhile but just recently got a
computer that could play the game...

All right, this is the last straw! Why do we let the Galactic Empire
continue its reign of terror? Now it has used the Spaarti Cylinders to
clone the most talented guitarists around. When will it cease? We must
rise up, join the Rebellion against the Empire and put and end to the
power mongering of Palpatine!

Can you tell I've only got 24 hours to wait till I'm in the theater for
Star Wars? AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I the only one who took the
day off from work to be at the first matinee?

And so the prophecy is written. As it was foreseen, many albums would
come forth on this nineteen hundred and ninety seventh year... not the
least of which would be the mighty Shadow Gallery... the unseen and
unlisted. Could it be that some expect to see the goddess Angra, and the
Symphony of X come forth and do battle with these mighty competitors?

This one you can't pin on Dream Disc. Moise has be pretty pathetic at
distributing this cd to the serious US Vendors. They come in in weird
bursts of 20 cds it seems (from dealers' accounts) and sell out within a
day or two. This cd is notoriously hard to keep in stock for these
reasons. Dream Disc, or Impulse shoule be able to get it for you for
about $12-13. I know Impulse is expecting some this week.

I'd say more of a DiMartini/Aresti/MICHAEL.ANGELO./Romeo/DeGarmo/Ralph
Macchio kind of vibe to me... but I could be mistaken.

If you want to pay like $30 for it, sure. At least, that was the price.
I think you can only get it as an import from that number.

What's more impressive is that the drum line was writen by Mike Portnoy
and the original vocalist on the demo was Ray Alder! Oh no... wait...
that's not right. Hmm. Then I guess I don't give a Coulomb. Is there I

Just laugh.)

Hey all,

About Power of Omens. Since they're from San Antonio, and I'm
relatively nearby in Houston, I wrote Dave, their guitarist, to
ask if they were doing any shows. He responded that they are currently
recording a full-length CD, and hope to have it completed by March.
After they get the CD out (independently), they'll start playing clubs
to support it. I _will_ see these guys when they do.. I'll let you
all know if I get a list of tour dates or anything.

I got the new Nevermore, The Politics of Ecstasy. It's decent..
but a word of warning, it's not very prog. A good description would
be heavy/speed metal with prog leanings. A couple of times their
instrumental sections are similar in complexity to the middle of
Metropolis.. but that's as close to DT as they get. The singer has
a low to medium pitched voice.
And now, for a small spoiler about the album. I used a simple
sampling program to figure out the backwards message at the end of
track 6, I believe (I don't remember the song title). The backwards
message is: "Send your answer to Old Pink." *grin* And no, it
wasn't Roger Waters' voice, either. :) One of the Nevermore members
I guess.

As I sit here pondering the many aspects of life, love, music, I find
myself wondering....what exactly makes an artist "good". Is it talent? Drive
to suceed? Passion for what you are doing? Schooling?
The more I think about it the more I wonder. Just because a musician is
greatly schooled in their instrument, it doesn't mean they are an artist. An
artist is one whom creates from their heart and soul. Someone who uses their
passion to bring something mental into the physical.
Perhaps, all these years when I was judging singers on perfect pitch, or a
guitarist on their ability to play arpeggios with ease, I was wrong. GASP,
is it possible that I could have been wrong?
Then again, in that very breath of saying that artists must be judged on
their abilities to interpret and express their vision. It makes people like
Marilyn Manson, Trent Reznor, Tori Amos, seem artistically genius. Perhaps
they are. Maybe all these years, I just wasn't listening for what they were
saying.
What does this mean in referance to DT you are prolly thinking. Well, it
actually is quite simple. We can hear something in DT that many
mainstreamers can not. Rather then knocking them for hearing things
differently, show them how to hear it. Teach them what you think it is that
they should be able to understand. Maybe they just haven't learned to listen :)

thing i have to dislike is the zombie like voice in most of the
songs...and the distortion..which i guess in studio albums changes? Can
any fans of them answe me privately if the singer sings like that (slow
and zombielike) in their studio stuff and if the dist sounds heavier on
studio..? ...overall is more melodic and beautiful than i expected..

Sounds kewl. I ordered my Superior from Empire Entertainment and was bery satisfied with the results (of course it was an import and cost $25). I emailed em in inqury about it and they told me they had one in stock and reserved it for me. They also sent me an email telling all the various goods they sell. If you like Angra, mail em. They got lots of Angra stuff. T-Shirts, albums, LPs, etc. I think there's a Superior shirt in there as well. I got my order back from them about 2 weeks after sending it, so I thought the return rate was excellent. They handled it very well. Here's the addy. EmpireEnt@aol.com
