I am here for the Berklee Performance Program, and I have a ticket for
the August 2nd show at Great Woods.

    There's just one problem.

When I ordered the tickets, I did not realize that Boston public
transportation does not cover this area! :-(

Is there someone who will be going to the show that can give me a lift?
    If so, please email me!

    Eric LaRue
(my sig is not working. :-( )

In the last week I've been hearing constant rumors about DT doing a tour
in South Americ, that would even bring them to Chile! (finally)

Do you guys know anything about it?

(say, this might be a nice change of pace for the list: from NDTC crap
    to DTC rumors...)

Well, someone mentioned that they wanted discussion on the new Enchant album - "Wounded". I picked it up a few weeks ago and having listened to it a few times now, was not too taken with it. The songs all sounded slightly too similar, and at times they seemed to be trying too hard.

But I haven't heard "Blueprint of the World" yet, and I haven't ruled out picking it up if I see it, but for now, I would pass on "Wounded".

Not to say that there aren't some decent songs on it (Below Zero, Look Away) but all in all, it's really nothing special.

Stuff that I've heard recently that I would recommend though - Megadeth's latest (Cryptic Writings), Bruce Dickinson's latest (Accident of Birth), Marillion's latest (This Strange Engine), Fish's latest (Sunsets on Empire), and, of course, Fates Warning's latest (I think we all know the title of that one now!)

    looking forward to new DT!

Falling Into Infinity. What's the album cover going to look like? I bet it has stars and clouds and windblown trees, and a fencepost with the Majesty logo carved into it.

I also bet we get a mention in the liner notes! :-)

    > From: "DJW" <DJW_at_NEON@smtpgate.walker.com> > > New songs - "Where are you now" is the best (IMHO) closely followed > by "Burning My Soul", as heavy as you like...

Unfortunately I was full of beer in Amsterdam, so I can't recall too many details of the new songs. I do remember that Buring My Soul has that cool catchy vocal line in the chorus, there are neat harmonies in Peruvian Skies, and that I was incredibly moved by Take Away My Pain.

    > Lastly - 23 September sounds good but presumably that's the US > release date - does anyone know about the European release date

Whenever it is, I'll be taking the day off work.

my, my, what a wild few jams. this is gonna be fun.

all this homo-buffoonery makes me wonder what the next ytse-con will be like. one side of the room telling the dragonl-whateva one which rush album to get (personally, i say "fuck them" and go for yes or crimson! ha! muthafucka!), and the other side, of course, talking about you-know-what.

dear mr. impostor- you're a scary individual, as i'll point out later, but i think if there ever happens to be a ytse-con anytime soon, you should appear. you might need a bullet-proof vest or something, but that would make my entrance fee worth it, i think.

yay!!!!!!!!!! great album! it's not even progressive.

hey vinnie, you want a real nice boogie amp? i don't know if it has enough wattage for you, but it's the best sounding amp i've ever heard. go check out a mark iii when you get a chance (not the combo, but the head). please. if you do, i'd love to know what you think.

"and i'll form.......the HEAD." keith, voltron.

now, this mccabe fucknut wrties me:

don't tease me, you cocksucker (woops- shouldn't say that around here). but thanks for the km (-jelly) info.

i wonder what they all sound like played simultaneously, brandon.

ladies and gentleman, the enigma publius has joined us here on the little ol' ytsejam. this means that when dt plays here on their next tour, we should look out for the lights to spell his name, and of course, it's time to get our tori glasses on and begin over-analyzing the meanings of the lyrics, too. just watch, i tell ya.

Ah...one of the classics. I loved the music that came out in the 80s ( NO NO, not the glam stuff). We had Malmsteen, Marty Friedman/Jason Becker, Vinny Moore, Racer X/Paul Gilbert, Tony MacAlpine... These guys were actually playing gigs in rock clubs!!! Now the only way to see them is at a guitar clinic.

Hello, Another boring day at work. I get to read document scanner user manuals today though! No boring insurance stuff, just boring computer stuff.

    >Subject: Mood Songs

First off: SDV was an excellent choice. Always does the same for me. You should invest in the following albums: Miles Davis, Sketches of Spain; Soundtracks to Braveheart and Blade Runner; Peter Gabriel, Us; Rush, Presto; Joe Satriani, Joe Satriani; Megadeth, So Far, So Good, So What; and Chris Isaak, Forever Blue. And the Gn'R song Estranged always gets me. Okay, so you're saying: who the fuck is this guy and what is he talking about? Well these albums each have songs that reflect various moods of mine, mostly based on the despair for loss of female accompaniment (okay, getting dumped). Forever Blue does it for me every time. It has some of the best songs I have ever heard. And listening to Sketches while sitting on Lake Champlain reading A Passage to India is about as existential as life gets... For me at least. But these are albums that when I'm in a bad mood, keep me there. I like to wallow, thanks... From Merlo: >::duck::

Now, now... I would never throw anything at you Chris. Stand up straight sir and take your beating like a man! :)

    >just remember that there are three distinct periods of Rush music

I'm a four period believer myself: Rush-2112, AFTK-MP, Signals-Presto, RTB-T4E. Everyone else has gone through the reasons. Just thought I'd chip in. Short and sweet. Quite unlike yesterday. But I'll be posting again. Oh, and add Hercules to your list of movies to see. It was better than Men in Black, but not as good as Face/Off. Oh, and Batman sucked, but I guess you all knew that. -- ______________________________________________________________ "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter..." -Yoda, the Jedi Master ______________________________________________________________ Andrew Forcier a.k.a. When I was in high school, anytime I got pissed at my parents, I would blare Fight Fire With Fire because it is an awesome song to be angry by, and I figured it was annoying to them. Wow...the memories. Only about 10 years until my daughters are slamming their door, screaming 'I hate you', and blaring the stereo. I wonder what song it'll be in 2007?

Let me guess you're somehow got hold of the new CD, and, you're using it to lure them in, right? ;) ___

It's kind of funny everytime Marillion is said to be terrible or "they sukz" no one really defends them(except for Itchy that is). And now with the mood music thread everyone is naming Marillion's Brave. Jeez, funny how the situation changes... ___

Who else here loves it when there is a thread about guitarists. I'm not even a guitarist but this Ron Thal and other shredders is fun...And I was reading a.m.d-t awhile ago, and a couple of people(they sounded like they knew what they were talking about but I'm no drummer) said that Portnoy is good but not a the level of Gene Holgan, and some jazz drummers that I've never heard of before were even better. I just wanted to know what you drum-heads thought.

I remember making the huge mistake of trying to get into Rush through Moving Pictures. I mean, it was cool, but not the kind of thing I could just jump right into. When I bought Counterparts, though, I listened to it for about 3 days straight uninterupted, but my friend still couldn't get into them. When I bought Hold Your Fire, he borrowed it from me and I waspissed cuz I didn't see it for weeks. :( Anyway, Presto is not the album to get started on, in fact, I think it's my least favorite. Better to start with Counterparts or Hold Your Fire. They're the most accessible, IMO. Roll the Bones is a good one, too, tho. :) Screw it, buy em all!

    >the new Enchant CD (I'm shocked that I haven't >stumbled across any comments on them yet....),

New Enchant.... Best album of the year so far. I just wish I could find a place to order "Time Lost" from. I crave more. I just think Enchant is one of the most creative and talented bands to come along since Dream Theater. For anyone who hasn't checked them out yet, just imagine Marillion and Rush jamming together. Excellent (beyond excellent) drummer, killer singer, awesome guitarist, plenty of keyboards, the bass player like to surprise you. :) Just buy it. :)

And if someone would PLEASE let me know where I can find "Time Lost" I would be most grateful. :D

All Mike said was September 23rd. He didn't say Europe or UK or whatever.

I agree, but you have like 10 eras there. :) I was trying to be more general, but still define some areas of cohesiveness.

I think it's safe to say we really like Rush, and that's about where the agreement ends. :)

I just don't get this. If I'm depressed, the last thing I want to do is *stay* depressed. Quite frankly, no one I've dated is worth that much time. And if it isn't a woman thing, it's some sort of real life business, where staying depressed doesn't even hold a possibility of making things better. I'd rather get back up on my horse and face the day. But I guess that's just me.

    No way! Mine's *much* shorter than - um, I mean... <sweat> <gasp> ...

That's why it's so safe. It never happens. :)
