    Hi everyone,

    I'm feeling a little under the weather so I haven't posted in the last
    20 or so jams that came yesterday and today. And to my astonishment they
    were full of music stuff! I'm just posting to screw it up. ;)

    They should "rock pretty well" if they're playing 120% peak metallicity
    with a spinkle of musical complexity! ;)

    I got Primus' The Brown Album today. If you didn't know there's a new
    drummer(only known as Brian), well, there is. :) First thing I spotted
    was The Return of Sathington Willoughby. I liked the melody of the
    original song, but, this one sounds like Les is drunk and is mumbling
    about Roosevelt. :P The one thing that stands out the most from my
    first(and only so far) listen was the low end! Now usually this is a
    good thing for me. But I can't explain it too well but I just thought it
    sounded too bassy(I think this is Myung's nightmare ;) ). You can still
    hear the guitar but usually I liked to hear how Herb would throw in some
    cymbal work. But this guy Brian is a double bass freak, I don't think
    this guy has heard of cymbals before signing up with Les and Ler! :) The
    songs that I liked right away were Over the Falls, Shake Hands with
    Beef(heard it twice on the radio, and once on MTV), Hats Off(Les' life
    story :) ), Restin' Bones, Kalamazoo, and The Chastising of Renegade.
    That's 6 out of 15 I really liked. But there are two that suck the
    imposter's anal hole bald so bad it aint funny. One's TRoSW, and the
    other was the last song Arnie. They're done in the same style, take a
    dump on an album. Hmm is that where they got the album's name? :P But
    overall I liked this CD, though it isn't one of my favorites, it'll
    probably grow on me. And I can't mention Primus with a good ol' yell of
    "Primus SUCKSSSSSSSS!!!"

     I just can't explain it..."

    Now, on the subject of songs to put you in a bad mood...make your own. Just
    record everything you can think of that brings you down, and dub it all over
    the Pat Boone heavy metal album (concerning that..I'm the only one I know
    that likes it). Hints for stuff to record on it: Females/males rejecting you,
    the screams of small forest animals in anguish, small forest animals
    rejecting you, me laughing at you for being a dumb fuck, me rejecting you,
    anybody making fun of the size of your genitalia, your genitalia rejecting
    you, you crying because of it etc. etc. etc. etc. That should do the job
    nicely.

    Fugazi is certainly a punk band. I used to stock shelves at a grocery
    store with a fellow who worshipped them (and was in a punk band,
    himself). His music and mine, of course, overlapped not at all :)
    I brought Marillion-Fugazi to work one night, he saw it and asked me
    to play it (assuming that any album called 'Fugazi' must be good, since
    the band was). I think he listened to about six or seven seconds before
    he gave up on it.

    And he didn't like DT, either. He respected Petrucci as a guitarist
    (not that he listened to DT, but saw some of his stuff in geetar
    magazines), but that's about it.

    So, after being subjected to several Fugazi albums at the store, I can
    safely say that almost nobody on this list would like them. Thankfully,
    I graduated from college and don't work there anymore, so I don't need
    to put up with everyone else's music. (Of course, they're all saying
    the same thing about me and my music :)

            Well, while I agree with Angra, I'm not so sure about
    "Ratamahatta". Especially this song. It doesn't even have decent lyrics.
    I bet that "Roots, Bloody Roots" or "Attitude" would be better choices.

            But again this is the lame thing that brought MTV the bad name.

            There's only one moment when I turn my TV set on to see MTV: MTV
    Latino's "Headbanger". There was the place where I entered in touch (for
    the very first time) with some cool videos that if I expected to see from
    MTV Brazil, I'd still be waiting:

            - Megadeth's "Angry Again";
            - Metallica's "King Nothing";
            - Megadeth's "Trust";
            - Slayer's "Dittohead";
            - Megadeth's "Anarchy in the U.K.";
            - Amorphis "My Kantele";
            - Amorphis "Against Widows";
            - Megadeth's "Hangar 18";
            - My Dying Bride's "For You".

            And there I also knew some crap, crap, crap, crap bands like
    "Marilyn Manson" (is it spelled right?). These guys don't even deserve
    airplay.

            I'm honest to say that I don't know what you're talking about What
    are these "Claudinho & Bochecha"?? Probably some kind of "pagode"??

    > Well, enough whining. =)

            No whining is enough when it comes to discuss MTV's fate. :-)

    Hi, there.

    I'd like to know more about this band called "Opeth". I did a websearch but all I could find were some quite brief reviews, but I have been told that they are an interesting band with some orchestration (I love this).

    So, I'd appreciate a lot if any of you could send a review about their albums (I heard that they have two albums: "Morningrise" and "Orchid"). The more reviews, the better (I'd really like to see something like the "Rush" reviews :-).

    Thank you very much for any comment, Roger...

    Greetings jammers,

    This being my first post to the 'jam, I immediately apologize for not having any unique DT content to offer (unless simply mentioning DT counts as content...but I digress).

    I am currently in the process of packing up my worldly belongings and moving from Tucson, AZ (hotter than hell) to Cleveland, OH (nice and cold). I was wondering if anyone from the area could give me some recommendations for good radio stations, record stores, etc. Like most of you, I enjoy DT, Rush, FW, KX, etc. I also noticed a few days back that someone mentioned Fates Warning would be in Cleveland on the 15th of August. Any info on any of these topics would be greatly appreciated. Please mail me privately.

    Thanks and sorry again for the NDTC.

    Cheers,

    As far as I'm concerned this guy, along with Dave Uhrich and Tony MacAlpine (HEAVY emphasis on MacAlpine!!), was the saving grace of the Jason Becker ALS Benfit show in Chicago last Nov. And I drove 13 hours from NYC to see this "shred" extravaganzanza!!!!!!!!..more like "country" shred at some points (Firkins and Wylde are great but there's only so much I can take!)

    Chris P. knows what I mean (anyone else there?)..I met him at the Hard Rock party the night before (the night in which all was right with the world and shred was the most common denominator!) and he was real cool to talk to, although he should wear a baseball hat instead of wearing that dead raccoon on his head.

    I've heard his latest "Planet Gemini" is so-so, but his first one "No Boundaries" is wall-to-wall shred...it can be a bit overbearing but thats why I like the guy so much..he totally stole the show when he came on stage with his plastic pants and just shredded his ass off!

    ps: Chris P. was mega-cool in showing a couple of "New Yawkas" the finest in Italian cuisine and trusting us not to walk off with his house (with his hound from hell inside) Ever get the pic chris?
