Haven't heard Planet Gemini, but No Boundaries was a great shred album
indeed. He's incredibly fast, and without a doubt, the fastest in the
world. It might be more easily accessible to the mainstream listening
audience if it were slowed down to the speed of say, Yngwie Malmsteen.

Hello all. I've been feverishly trying to keep up with the jams that come
in, but as soon as I read one, another is in waiting...Oh well. If this
subject is overhashed already, I apologize, but I wanted to give my
thoughts on this guitarists thread. I wrote to a couple of the people
about their Vito Bratta. I think that Vito is and/or was a great
guitarist. Even though he was in a band that was labeled super80's glam
metal, they (White Lion) could really play their instruments and play them
well. I've heard about Warrant supposedly not really playing on the first
record and about how Motley Crue used to lip sync concerts cuz they were
too drunk and out of it. These guys were really valid musicians that
excelled, but got grouped into the stereotype. They were an 80's band, but
they could play really well as most of you know. As far as Vito goes, I'd
be very surprised to hear that his solos were awful live from either the
Big Game or Mane Attraction eras. I have a live video from before Pride
went mainstream in 87 and Vito's solos were a little weak. Bends were off
and all, but I think he must have gotten better. I have another couple of
videos with clips of him playing his Mane Attraction stuff and it is a
sight to behold. I think it was just inexperience and pressure to live up
to what he put on record. He played many a show to get where he is, or
was...whatever. I guess I'm done going on. Does anyone know what the boys
from White Lion are up to now. I know Mike Tramp had his Freak of Nature
thing (which i love too), but that is now disbanded. James Lomenzo played
with Zakk Wylde on a couple of records, but D'Angelo, I haven't heard too
much about. What is Greg up to? I haven't heard a peep out of Vito since
he disappeared back in 91 with White Lion. He's probably in a ditch
    somewhere in Brooklyn...who knows? :P

Yeah. And the drummer...Steve Smith. All he played was that simple
mono-rhythmic 4/4 crap. They could have hired me to play his stuff.
Good thing nobody thinks he's a good drummer. Obviously, from playing
in Journey, he must really suck or something. (All of this is sarcasm.)

By the way, Neal's newest album is:

      Electric World
      on Higher Octave Records
      its 2 CD
it will be out on July 15.

Look for it in the Jazz section of your record store where they
put all the crap from no-good talentless musicians.

His other most-recent release is Abraxas Pool a semi-reunion of
part of the original Santana bands (65-73 era). It can be found
in the Popular or Rock sections for some reason. It is not prog.
It is not metal. Yet, somehow its good...for those of you who
believe that is possible, I recommend it.

I think I'll start ripping off Adam now that Bafu has exceeded
    my lowly abilities:

    Gratuitous 5 CDs for Today:
    1. Amorphis - Elegy
    2. The Essence of Al Dimeola
    3. Joe Stump - Supersonic Shred Machine
    4. Divine Regale - Ocean Mind

Here is a little something for the intellect! Give it a shot and send the answers back to me.

    1. A snail is at the bottom of a well 30 feet deep. It can crawl upward 3 feet in one day, but at night (being the slimy bastard that he is) it slips back 2 feet. How many days does it take the snail to crawl out of the well?

    2. There are 2 jars of equal capacity. The first jar there is one amoeba. In the second jar there are two amoebas. An amoeba can reproduce itself in the three minutes. It takes the two amoebas in the jar three hours to fill the jar to capacity. How many minutes does it take the one amoeba in the first jar to fill that jar to capacity?

    3. A ship is at anchor. Over its side hangs a rope ladder with rungs a foot apart. The tide rises at the rate of 8 inches per hour. At the end of six hours, how many feet of the rope ladder will remain above water, assuming that 8 feet were above water when the tide began to rise?

    4. A race driver drove around a 6 mile track at 140 mph for three miles, 168 mph for 1 1/2 miles, and 210 mph for 1 1/2 miles. What was his average speed for the entire 6 miles?

    5. If you get this one, I want to know how! With my logic, I almost got it.... Each day a man's wife meets him at the railroad station and drives him home. One day he arrives at the station an hour early and begins to walk home along the road his wife always takes. She meets him en route and takes him the rest of the way home. Had he waited at the station, she would have picked him up exactly on time. As it turned out, he reached his home twenty minutes early. How many minutes did the man walk?

    6. How many times does the digit 9 appear from 1 to 100?

    7. A genious came to a narrow railroad bridge and began to run across it. He had crossed three eighths of the distance when a whistle behind him warned of an approaching train. Being a genious, he instantly evaluated his alternatives. If he were to run back to the beginning of the bridge at his speed of 10 mph, he would leave the bridge at precisely the moment the train entered it. If he kept running to the end of the bridge, the train would reach him just as he left the bridge. At what speed was the train moving? a) 35 mph b)40 mph c)45 mph d) 50 mph

    8.C, G, Q are to F, V, R as T, X, H are to a) V, L, G b) B, F, Y c) W, M, I d) N, Z, D

    9 Complete the series: 2-4, 6-18 a). 8-24 b). 8-32 c). 10-40 d). 20-60 e). 21-84

    10. Which one does not belong? a). dada b). abstract c). cubist d). dodecaphonic e). pointillist I got this one right!

to put it simply, I don't like it. With a title like that I expect to see hobbits and dwarfs and things standing on mist-covered mountains looking expectantly to some wrinkled old man wearing a travel-worn cape etc. etc. ******** No kidding. They should have called it "Prog Sucks" just to piss off all the militant prog fans. And the cover could consist of a Roger Dean painting with lots of phallus-related graffiti all over it. I'd pay good money to see that.

    Hi there jammanoids!

I've seen much talk in the last jams about the broadcast of the Monsters of Rock here in Brazil... I must say that, well, the quality of the shows broadcasted are really disappointing (the TV network doesn't even transmit then in stereo)... In the first MoR (good ol' times... Black Sabbath, Suicidal Tendencies, Angra...), MTV did the broadcast, and they put up all the shows (incredible, huh?), and the quality was pretty good. But, the next two MoR really did let me down... I saw Therapy?'s, Megadeth's (from the 2nd edition) and Maiden's shows on TV (this last from last year's), and I must say that they were really disapointing... I did not see the 2nd MoR live, but I saw the last one, and it was much better (actually, it was kinda boring on TV). Ah, and something I was almost forgetting: probably DT won't be one of the headliners, so, expect a very short show, and a way more shorter broadcast... The same w/ Angra. O'course it'd be cool to have them taped, but don't expect too much.

About Rogerio's talk about Sepultura's "Ratamahatta" (sp?), a few jams ago (btw, we can notice it's summer vacation up there... I get something like 8 jams a day!!!): believe it or not, I've never even heard the whole song. Neither seen the video. But, as music dows not seem to count much in the VMA, the video seems kinda cool...

The fact that you like prog does not make the Hutus and the Tutsis friendly toward each other, nor the star-bellied sneetches toward those without.

If I remember correctly, John's doubleneck at the Fix shows sported not a 6/12 combination, but a piezo/humbucker combination. One neck was like his normal guitars <although maybe w/ only one humbucker> and one neck had no magnetic pickups and just a piezo in the bridge. The piezo half had a reverse headstock as well.
