Is "prog" a band. Maybe you meant Prong. Ah, I don't care anyway. If you
like Primus then listen to them. If you can't stand them well there's
nothing better than complaining to the rest of the people on the DT
list. :P I know I'm no better posting about this, but, it really is an
    opinion...So read my .sig! :)

Today I finally got my insurance money! 8^D Now, I can finally buy some
of the things I didn't have the money for, before. I even went out
today. :) And bought King Crimson "In the Court of the Crimson King,"
KMFDM "XTORT," and Type O Negative "October Rust." So I'll have some
reviews very soon on these and stuff like Angra, Superior, and stuff
that you never find in crappy mall type CD stores! :)

You seem to be underestimating FW's talent. I don't think DT could hold my attention for an hour the way Fates can. I've been using Boogies for 13 yrs. and never had a tube blow. Generally the tubes last alot longer than 6 mo. Personally I've had'em last 2+ years (don't think I normally wait that long tho). As a matter of fact a rep. at M/B told me last week that some guy w/ a MKIIB had just bought new tubes after 20 yrs. I don't know how often he played but even if he didn't play very often, thats a heck of a long time!

Just about anything from Seymore Duncan trips my ear drums, but I especially love the George Lynch and the (JB) Jeff Beck models. They do make the Lynch in a Trembucker version too.

    > Just a quick question. > Whats the big deal about Tori Amos?

She's brilliant, beautiful, sexy, a redhead (Itchy LOVES redheads) and a LOT of Dream Theater fans seem to love her music. I'm one of them :-) (just take a look at the "Pieces of Me" page on my site)

I should mention that I became a fan of Tori a year and a half ago after I noticed a lot of posts about her on this list... I got all three of her albums for my birthday (Valentines), and totally fell in love with (her and) her music.

I suggest picking up "Little Earthquakes" as a first purchase, but "Under The Pink" is my personal favourite. "Boys for Pele" is also brilliant, but a bit harder to get into... If you really love what she does on those albums, hunt down some of her older singles. The bsides are sometimes even better !

Or just try to find the following bootlegs :

    - Little Rarities - Even More Rarities - Forgotten Earthquakes

I have the last two, and together they contain all of her pre-Pele bsides (except for live versions and remixes, that is).

I think that this has something to do with an underrated tube/bad engineering. I'm sure Dave said something pleasant about that.

Thanks to Adam for augmenting my reviews of the new materials. And thanks to everyone who has emailed me about them as well.

To the person asking about Sammy's Nap:

This was a song that JP and Derek played at their clinic in St Louis back in April. It was named because John wrote it while his daughter Sammy was sleeping. It starts and ends with a 'lullaby' type intro/outro, but throught the songs it's filled with solos and fills and runs from both Derek and John. I'm surprised that Sammy slept through it. :)

Actually. Based upon my Trinity and the way that it is generally set up. I would guess that he is most likely either using the ribbon controller...or the up/down portion of the joystick that he uses for pitch bends. The only "knob" on the Trinity is mostly used for flipping through values as an option to use other then the touch screen. -LadyDragon

Well firstly I advise anyone to steer clear of CDE, try someone else like Alta Mira or Knights Of The Round table. If you order from CDE by the time you get it Ivanhoe will probably have another album out. I find Ivanhoe to be DT clones, pure and simple, and bad ones at that, I have two of their albums (got them for free) but I wouldn't part with any cash for their CD's.

Why would anyone who favors Prog Rock/Metal even remotely enjoy or like hearing music by Primus? I mean, it was bad enough RUSH let them play on the Counterparts tour, but I mean, they suck....they really do. Their music is awful, it makes no sense, and is just as much noise as the other alternacrap that is currently the radio norm. To put it bluntly, Primus is a waste of radio play.....why not DT? Is the music industry that afraid of good quality music? Kind of like my friend had put it, "Talent throws people off" *********

Oh, I see. But what do you think of Primus?

********* I think he was on to something with this statement.....alternacrap is shit and people like it.....Prog is quality music with thought and creativity yet people seem to dispise it, except for us underground followers......I hope that one day Prog will have its day on the radio...........imagine, everywhere you tune your radio, a DT song is playing....ah, my dream........... ********* Bottom line is...you're a poser.

    1. The fact that you like prog does not make you cool. 2. The fact that you like prog does not mean you have to dislike alternative. 3. The fact that you like prog does not mean alternative sucks. 4. The fact that you like or dislike something does not mean everybody else does/n't

Also...why do you care if DT gets radio play? You have all the CDs. You can listen to them whenever you want. And it's not like nobody's buying DT CD's..they're not broke. Another simple fact is that many many people just don't like Dream Theater. No matter how much you bitch and whine, that won't change their opinion, it'll just piss them off and they'll make fun of you more. My advice to you, and other people like you....sit back and enjoy the music. It is not your mission to change the world's idea of good music, so forget about it.
