Say...Candice Night is Blackmore's girlfriend. I suddenly remember that from
an interview I read about a year ago. I think what they said the music would be
was kindof mediaeval stuff, nothing like Rainbow. What's the music like in the
    end?

    > I saw something on MTV News (Yes, I admit that I watch it...) about Pink > Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" being "in synch" with the movie classic, > "Wizard of Oz". Supposedly, if you start "Dark Side" right after the MGM > Lion's third roar, it is eerily in synch with the movie.

a bunch of my friends tried this the other night... it's not going to astound you, but there are some points where it's too in synch almost to be a coincidence... especially the first scene where the (soon to be) wicked witch comes in, the tornado scenes, and the entrance to Oz, (which was my favorite, as there's silence on the screen and on the disc, and then "Money" starts up... it's really cool.)

Savatage's writers based the music for "Heal My Soul" on a Welsh traditional tune called "Suo Gan", so it was that song in the commercial...very cool, though. Sava news from New York - the finishing touches are being put on the new album, right on schedule for an August releases date. Laterness...

Anybody hear of a group 'Dream STH' (I think that's what the DJ said)? They've been playing a new song by themon the radio a lot, and it's got a sound I can live with :) Vocals remind me of AIC, music overall is progressive, heavy and even kewl :)

I fairly certain that James has more important things to do with his time: picking the lint from his navel immediately comes to mind :)

Seriously, though, great post Dave! You echo the passion that a lot of DT fans feel. I applaud you for standing your ground in the Ytsetrenches.

I think at this point, the 'culture of the net' is fairly well known and anyone of moderate intelligence is going to see the sludge at bottom for what it is. Do you want to deny those that have something positive to contribute? Just something to consider.

    Ahoy,

This is horrible. Who the hell could be so bored as to actually time the Dark Side of the Moon with Wizard of Oz so as to find a bunch of lame *coincidences*?. When I see things like that, it makes me feel superior in knowing that I have better things to do with my time.

I kinda "promised" this to Fish, Marillion's ex-singer, so here it goes :

    FISH - SUNSETS ON EMPIRE

As some of you might know, Marillion was considered to be THE prog-band of the 80's... Their singer was Derek William Dick, better known as Fish. When Fish left Marillion in 1988, many people considered that the end of Marillion. Instead, it was the end of a prog-era... but the beginning of a new one.

Initially, both Marillion and Fish were doing just fine. Both released a great first album after the split. But after that, Fish' carreer kinda went downhill. Lots of problems with band members and record companies, etc. He also lost some (if not a lot) of fans due to his change in musical direction.

And then there was "Sunsets on Empire".

Every Fish fan seems to agree on one point: This is without a doubt his BEST album to date. Personally, I didn't expect too much from this album. But it definately is nothing less than brilliant. The lyrics and music are darker than ever before. Really great stuff ! The album is produced Steve Wilson from "Porcupine Tree" and he also plays on 9 out of 10 songs. The first track features an awesome 2 minute Steve Wilson guitar- solo. It has some prog every now and then, but I wouldn't say it is a prog album... If you are a metal head, stay away from this album too. But if you're looking for a great album, give this one a try... If you are a fan of the Fish/Marillion era, or an ex-Fish fan, DEFINATELY give this one a try ! You won't be dissappointed :-)

I kinda felt Fish lost his magic after his first solo album, but with this one, he definately regained it ! If you are a fan of Asia or Arena, you *might* be interested to know that Keith More recently joined Fish' band. He's not on the album but will be touring with him.

Btw, "Sunsets on Empire" isn't released in the US yet. Dunno when it'll be out in the US either. If you can get your paws on the limited edition, GET IT. It has a free interview CD, and really cool packaging.

    Sorry for this shameless plug

I heard a brazillian guy asking how could he get Silent Man ep. Since I'm brazillian i have the same question. But my advice to make the same question to your cd dealer. I guess you will probably get it. But I'm also thinks that the cd dealer will say that the cd will cost 20 dollars. I have a problem with ordering cds via on-line services, because I'm not sure about how safe are these services.I don't know if credit card number will be safe.If i' wrong about, please let me know. I'd really like if I had to pay only $10 for a cd. it's $10 less from what i'm used to pay. I could buy two cds for a price of one.

    Hi all!!

Just a quick announcement of a few things.

    1. Orders are now open for King's X "Acoustic Spirits" single CD. The cost will be $25. Shipping will occur almost _immediately_ when E2E shipping begins, and possibly even sooner! The fact that this is a single disc is what is making it possible to get it to ship faster than VS did. The print run will be 100 unless overwhelming demand makes more a necessity. The discs includes an _Acoustic Dreams_-quality acoustic show from 1991 (I believe) plus added material from the Ear Candy tour. The exact setlist will be posted ASAP. We're gonna try something a little different with this release. Melissa has re-organized the paperwork end of my CD business really well, and she wants to try a direct-feed release. So instead of taking reservations, we'll simply sell to the people whose mail orders get here first. If we exceed 100 orders we'll stop cashing checks, so it's risk free. This will also speed up the release tremendously. So if you dig King's X, or are already a fan of DT and/or Galactic Cowboys, get your order in for this release!! This info will be added to the new update on my web page this week. I am: Mike Bahr, 275 W. Juniper Ave. #1013, Gilbert, AZ 85233 USA Get that check/mo in fast! :)

    2. Virtual Songs shipping is about to begin. I've been given a Thursday delivery date for the liners by the print shop. Everything else is ready.

    3. Precious Things and Darkest of Winters continue to ship. Both are sold out at this time.

    4. I'm finally out of Critical Mass entirely. If you have a current reservation, get that order sent in pronto, or your disc will have to be sold to someone else on the waiting list. If you still need this disc, e-mail me and I'll let you know if a cancellation makes your purchase possible. :)

    5. When Dream and Today Unite and Scenes From a Memory continue to be available for purchase and shipping. Yeah!! :) Boy am I glad I printed enough of WDATU. It's still my best-selling disc ever.

As always, for more info check the web page below. Take care!!

Well, in fact, I was the brazilian guy asking about the EP. And I was interested in getting the "Lie" EP (which has the "To Live Forever" song on it, although getting the "Silent Man" EP is on my plans).

At the time of this message, I have seen:

No one seems to carry the "Lie" EP (or single for that matter), but the "Silent Man" seems much more popular. If anyone could tell me why this "Lie" is much more expensive, I'd appreciate.

    >And I really don't like Nuno Butternut, either. :-)

This, along with most of what this person has been contributing lately, is uncalled for. I agree with ladyheather that we need to come up with more than superficial reasons to be bashing bands. Taking a potshot like this at a guy's name is ridiculous. Is that the entire basis of your hatred for him? His name? Show some respect for the talent you'll never have. For the guy who asked, I agree, the Nuno CD is great. I saw him live in NYC. Great show, though Nno wasn't in a great mood. If you'd like any details, mail me.

    Hey jammerz..

Well I am just sitting here bored checking my mail and listening to APSOG, so I thought I would write.

If a few could please send me a short list of good prog CDs (only a few from each band please, and no Rush or DT or Fatez, cause I have that stuff) with discriptions of each one, I would really appreciate it. I know I have asked for similar stuff from you guys before and I always get a bunch of good responses, so anyone who has time and wants to help me out can write just a couple discs they recomend, and Im sure Ill get a ton of responses.

Upon listening to the new Megadeth album again yesterday with my bud Steve, I realized it is even better than last time I heard it. Anyways, when it comes out (today for everywhere but here, the 18th for those of us in the US) I highly recommend it. There is a great, wide range of stuff on it... everything from The Disintigrators (awesome, sounds like old Megadeth PeaceSells/RIP era) and FFF (very cool, heavy, thrashy song: "Fight For Freedom, Fight Authority, Fight For Anything, My Country Tis of Me") to Vortex (just awesome, heavy with a few new twists here and there) to Use the Man (possibly my favorite track... "I've seen the man use the needle, I've seen the needle use the man": great lyrics : )) It is awesome.

Anyways, thank you all for your responses in advance.
