IMHO, that was a bad move on their part. If Marillion wants to get big,
then the band has to start playing prog festivals and build up their way up.
Peter Renfro has been trying to get Marillion to play ProgDay for the past
two years. I don't know why they declined. Maybe they demanded too much
money.

FNM is a band that I actually liked, hated and now love. I was really
into the album "The Real Thing" Songs like "The Morning after" and stuff
like that. I bought the follow up "Angel Dust" and was very
disappointed. I put both albums in my rack (I'll never trade away or
throw away a CD) and never listened to them again until a year ago,
when someone mentioned that they were progressive. I listened to the
albums again and I was like "Wow! This shit shreds!" and I haven't put
then down since.
Now that I have a renewed intrest in the band, I have a few questions:
1. Did the old bassist leave after Angel Dust?
2. I heard in a past post that the guitarist had left the band. True?
3. I heard in a past jam that (not that it really matters) one of the
members of the band was openly gay?
4. I have the following albums "TRT" "AD" and the self titled one
without Mike Patton. Which albums should I get that I don't have?
If someone could drop me an e mail I would be very appreciative. J

Just wanted to tell all you Megadeath fans out there that I heard the
first single on 94.1 WYSP in Philly today (sorry didn't hear a name),
but I was impressed. I'm not a really big MD fan, but it had a lot of
progressive tendancies (especially slow to fast to slow, etc), also Dave
Mustane sounded good (not that he has a bad voice, it just sounded
good).
Thought you guys/gals might want to know.

This Conversation Seems Like A Dream
I saw the CD at a local shop and decided to pick up, per some
conversation on the Jam. Well I was really impressed. It is diverse
with some choral and orchastrated bits and it is really mature. In a
way it reminds my of Peter Gabriel (in some weird ass way)...but I like
it more and more every time I here it. Although it is not as hard and
driving as I thought it would have been (ala Pull), I still get into and
enjoy to listen to it.
That's all for now folks

PS The Orange and Black will be back in '97-'98 (maybe this time we'll

I was a Progressive Virgin so i only bought a tape of DTM and a cd of DT. Damn the Machine blew me away. I have been listening to it alot lately and love it even more!!!! Very progressive and very unique. They definately have their own voice. By the time smoke started coming out of the tape.........the album was discontinued and that meant no more cds! I am surprised no one has talked about this band. I recomend EVERY dream theater fan this group. I guess they all broke up...BOO HOOOoooo..... Those four songs are my four favorite songs of all time.
[Queensryche] I thought I missed the radio broadcast, but I guess I caught a rerun last night near midnight. I taped all of it sans all the interviews and talking, and sadly it doesn't even fill up one side of the tape. But the quality of the recording rocks my billies. It's sad to hear Geoff struggle with those high notes so freaking much, and even more disappointing to hear him cop out of those climactic points which really need the high notes. All in all, it was a good little concert though.. Will trade it for Fix for '96. I have a very good tape deck..
[Fix for '96] I really want a tape of one of these shows. I'm willing to trade dubs of what little I have, which are: Subconscious (source CD) Acoustic Dreams (source CD) When Dream and Today Unite (source CD) Antiquities (source CD) Scenes from a Memory (source CD) Precious Things (source CD) The Darkest of Winters (source CD) Mind Control (source CD x 2) Home for the Holidays - Birch Hill 12/29/95 (source tape x 2) (also includes part of a Mike Portnoy clinic) Queensryche radio broadcast (source tape)
[Smoking] I'm glad Portnoy's not the singer, otherwise Dream Theater would be going down the drain like Queensryche is. Smoking and singing don't mix well.. I'd imagine that that Hear in the Now Frontier will be QR's last album, or they're going to have to figure out some way to make the songs even lower pitched for Tate. I'd give him another year or so at even attempting doing Empire or O:M songs at concerts anymore..

I found this on a fax we get at the station from the Spin Radio Network. It's from the June 2, 1997, SPINFAX ROCK:
KISS On The Moon? In addition to the action figures, coffee-table book, Muzak, $600 biker jackets, golf clubs and mini-blinds, KISS has reportedly now set its sights on the moon. The Remasked Ones apparently got the idea from spaceman guitarist Ace Frehley, and have been nosing around the aerospace industry a bit, asking how they might become the first rock band to ever play a gig on the moon.
Sheesh...guess Gene Simmons is more eager for notoriety than he is afraid of heights. Wait'll he finds out that NASA won't allow groupies on a spaceship.

Hey, everyone. I don't post often, but I thought this bore enough importance to bring it to everyone's attention.
Recently, some events have happened regarding the prog band known as "Eternity-X" and a fellow jammer, Andrew "Subtlerage" Miller. I urge you to read the following webpages and see if you reach the same conclusions I did, and if you can see the truth behind the spokesperson for this band.
First, go to their homepage at http://www.eternity-x.com . Then, check out their online survey form at http://www.eternity-x.com/survey.html and see if you think it's a TAD bit biased or misguided, and possibly egocentric.
Finally, to see some very, very interesting correspondence between Andy and Keith Sudano (the band's apparent spokesperson), go to http://www.subtlerage.com/eternity-x/ .
The reason I can't get into too much detail is that the webpages put it so well, you have to read them yourselves.
Be warned... if you send some intelligently-phrased mail to Eternity-X in response to their survey form, you might get just the opposite as a response. Take care when dealing with this person. Never before have I seen such an egomaniac in a progressive band. :(
Thanks for your time!

hey everyone-
for starters, let me make it clear that i'm NOT on the jam at the moment, so if you want to respond to any part of this message and have it reach me, you need to mail me directly at subtlerage@subtlerage.com.
anyway, i finally surfed to eternity-x's website. i follow the "free sampler" link. i view the survey you must fill out in order to recieve a free sampler. in my opinion, their survey is very biased, and makes remarks to (c)rap music which, again imo, isn't cool. especially for a profressional band.
so i email them a nice letter, (and i do mean nice- it wasn't a flame in anyway), and a series of emails begins with a member of the band. what happens after that surprised the hell out of me, as i found myself flamed and belittled and basically insulted to no end, simply for stating a dissenting opinion of their views of music.
i also want to make it clear that i complimented them on their playing abilities and songwriting abilities... so how they took all this personally is beyond me.
anyway, the fellow i was in contact with, Keith, felt the need to insult everything about me, including my website, my music, my very existence. it was rather harsh.
before you support this band, i ask you to check out :
http://www.subtlerage.com/eternity-x
i've posted, in their entirety, all of the letters i've sent to and recieved from eternity-x, as of 3:00am, june 10th, central U.S. time.
i'm not suggesting that people NOT listen to these guys, as their music seems to be something that alot of people here may enjoy (prog-metal), but you should at least see what they're like as people. or at least this one, guy, as i've no idea if the entire band shares his opinions. i certainly hope they don't.
later. Andrew
