Hey folks, I meant to mention this a couple days ago and forgot.
I know a lot of CD/Tape trading/purchasing goes on here, and occasionally
we here about someone getting ripped off.

SO, I think it is important to also point out when we've found
a GOOD person to trade/sell with. I recently made a transaction
based on honesty with a 'Jammer named Jon Parmet <jonp@mailstorm.dot.gov>
and it went great. Jon and I did a mutual exchange, I sent a check,
he sent a CD. I got my CD from Jon within 4 days of contacting him!!!
I know Jon is interested in some trading etc..., so don't hesitate to
give him a shout and do business with him.

Also, thanks to George gsrockr@stratos.net for trying to help me
get the CD as well...I know George would have been just as reliable
    as Jon was!

    you guys rule & stuff!

    Hi boys and girls,

I have copied the list of all DT shows from a web page somewhere. It
was kind of out dates so I added the recent shows. If any of you has
time could you please check it out and see if there are any errors
with places or dates or opening acts. With all us jammers there must
have been at least one of us at just about every show *grin*.

    The file is at:

    E-mail me with any comments.

    Hi guys,

Saw FW in Hamburg two days ago. It was a great show they played all of a Pleasant Shade of Grey and then for an encore played Life in Still Water, Never Say Goodbye, The Eleventh Hour, and Monument. there were probably 400 people or so at the show.

But the coolest thing is before Fates went on we walked back in to the hall and I thought I hear a familiar song! Lo and behold it was "Lines in the Sand". Not a live version or anything, this was the studio track my friends! It sounded great, only some small changes from the version at the Fix shows.

They some other bands songs were played and right before FW came on they played the studio version of "Burning my Soul"!! To tell you the truth I would have been happy if FW had waiting to come on *grin*.

I talked to Jim Matheos after the show and asked him where they got the cool DT songs. He looked at me and smiled and said "from Mikey"! So it seems the boys are making some progress in the studio at least.

    Jason

P.S. Anyone going to more FW shows should steal this tape they have *evil grin*.

Well, all I have to say is that the best traders that I have found were from the Ytsejam. And I have a lot of trades going on right now... For instance: Chung Ng, Andrew Forcier, Mark Peters among others (I should really not list names because I'll forget some, but I simply couldn't resist).

regarding Megadeth's secret show: >First impressions, way too short, what happened to the >encores I saw Megadeth in '95 on the last tour, and I too thought the show was unnecessarily short. What's odd is that it seemed like half of the concert was encores. (Well, not quite.) Many bands put on a fairly long concert and do one or two song encores. Megadeth must have had five or six.

regarding Rush remasters: I disagree (as usual) that there is no noticeable difference in sound quality. So far I just have the Retrospectives, the first album and _Caress of Steel_. I've never heard the pre-remastered first album, so I can't compare, but Caress really started to sound good by "The Necromancer" (especially the drums). Other than that, it didn't sound that much better, but the newer songs on _Retrospective II_ sound wonderful. I thought I could hear increased quality in "Mystic Rhythms" (especially). While the remasters might seem like shameless attempts to get money from Rush fans, I actually think that it's good for definitive editions of the CD's (with the enhanced packaging) finally came out. They should have done this years ago though.

Enchant: A Blueprint of the World

very good album. kinda poppy in places, but a must for any prog lover. they aren't derivitive at all, but still manage to sound quite similar to DT in places. (explain that one for me). their drummer (i'd hate to say it) might be better than Mike. I'm not saying he is, but he is definitely up there close.

    Enchant: Wounded

not nearly as hook oriented. More progressive, with more thoughtful lyrics. I'm not sure which is better of the two.

ANNOUNCING THE AVAILABILITY OF VIDEO MONTAGE & DT HOMEBREW T-SHIRTS!!

Hi everyone, Melissa Bahr here, Mike's wife. He and I noticed that the CD burner seems to be running constantly and production was at maximum speed, but our VCRs and such have sat idle. Mike asked a few days ago if anyone would be interested in further video montages and the response was an overwhelming "yes". He also asked if people would like T-shirts of the boot CD covers, and again, "yes". Since he is busy with CD production, both of these projects will be mine. And since the equipment wasn't being used, I've taken the past few days to pre-prepare a lot of it for sale and immediate shipment. Therefore I intend to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that I'm faster, more reliable, and generally better than my husband in every way. (joking, joking...) :)

We have the Progressive Video Montage tapes ready to ship. A few dozen of them, anyhow. We'll make the rest as demand warrants. It will be printed to order, so no reservations are necessary. Also, it will be very high quality: Maxell HGX Gold tapes (like the Rush VM Mike did in 1994), with all but two of the videos being from original tapes and/or original recordings from broadcast. It will also be very cheap: Ten bucks. Sound good? Here's the video listing from it. We both decided after numerous suggestions of this sort to include all sorts of much-loved prog bands and related bands' videos, rather than just do a re-hash of all Rush stuff.

PROGRESSIVE VIDEO MONTAGE SETLIST ================================= Rush / Lock And Key - Live from the ASOH laserdisc, now out of print Megadeth / Train of Consequences Fates Warning / Monument Tori Amos / Cornflake Girl Candlebox / Change Galactic Cowboys / If I Were A Killer I Mother Earth / So Gently We Go Ozzy / Perry Mason Live / White Discussion - Original version from 1994, not 1995 ver. Queensryche / Bridge Megadeth / Peace Sells Primus / Master of Puppets - from W94, intro segment from encore King's X / Manic Depression - also from W94 Live / Pain Lies on the Riverside Tori Amos / Caught a Lite Sneeze Rush / Nobody's Hero Type O Negative / Christian Woman God Lives Underwater / All Wrong Pink Floyd / High Hopes Pantera / Planet Caravan Van Halen / Unchained Dream Theater / Lie King's X / It's Love Primus / Wynona's Big Brown Beaver Queensryche / Take Hold of the Flame - PAL conversion Dream Theater / The Silent Man - PAL conversion King's X / We Are Finding Who We Are Two bonus videos, just for fun. :)

What do you all think? Pretty wicked huh! We covered almost every band possible that is in some way appealing to the cross-section of DT and Rush fans here on the Ytsejam list and in alt.music.dream-theater. Mike adds that the Nobody's Hero and Silent Man videos are particularly heavily requested and he is happy to include them here. Also, bands that have a few common videos and only one or two rare videos, you will see that we included the rare videos here. As far as we know, none of these are available in any commercial form. And we hit all the heavies: Fates, Galactic Cowboys, King's X, Rush, DT, Tori, I Mother Earth, and Queensryche.

Further details on ordering are below, but to sum it up: fantastic quality, available immediately (~24-48 hour turnaround when we receive your order), only ten bucks (shipping is free, or included, however you prefer to quantify it), and shipping to international addresses of any kind is only three dollars extra. Please help prove to Mike that he's too slow! Please help another project-minded individual with access to a vault full of rare material establish herself here on the net so that she can provide cool stuff for many years. And most of all, please buy this because you'll love the videos, and you'll have access to them to show all your friends. :)

Now then, T-SHIRTS!!! Mike asked if T's featuring former "collect- ible" boot CD cover artwork would be in demand. After the first few dozen of you responded, we got the hint. We did a little talking back and forth with local silk-screening places and such, and we found a place that is willing to give us such a rockin' price that we expect these shirts will sell out in days. Again, we'll print it to order, so there's no need to reserve any, but please let us know if you have your order in the mail so I can get a head-start on production. I'll order the batches ahead of time in anticipation of the money arriving, to further minimize turnaround time.

How's this sound for a price: 16 bucks. Not bad huh?? :) :)

That's for XL, shipped anywhere in the USA. For larger sizes please add $3 (up to XXXL) per shirt, and for shipping anywhere else in the world please also add $3 per shirt. Simple, straightforward, and incredibly cheap. I have to say, I like that. I'd buy it in a second if someone else was doing the project.

The first shirt will be the much-loved ACOUSTIC DREAMS (DT) cover, with artwork by George Fan, and setlist and CD stuff on the back (you know, formatted nicely and with mention of the Jam and the band logo and so on). The shirt will be either deep gray or navy blue, whichever they have available for soonest turnaround. This is the shirt I'll open orders on now. Coming soon are Scenes from a Memory (forest green print on pearl shirt), Antiquities (black print on cream/beige shirt), and WDATU (white on black).

So here's all the final info...

E-mail to let me know about your order, or if you have any questions, I am at: emerald@goodnet.com (Melissa Bahr).

Send all orders, checks made out to Melissa Bahr, to: Melissa Bahr - Shirts [or Video] 275 W. Juniper Ave. #1013 Gilbert, AZ 85233

Thanks to everyone in advance for helping me get started with these projects. It's been great talking to a lot of you on the phone, and meeting those of you who have visited us here in Arizona. And I will probably be joining Mike on the plane to Ytsecon IV, wherever it may be! I only hope I can deliver a product that makes you as happy as the stuff Mike creates. And yes, for those of you who are wondering, I've only been on the net a few months and Mike taught me how to word my posts and such, so it might seem like a foggy reflection of one of his "announcements". Insider secret: I do all the updates. Mike just does technical stuff these days. He's completely obsessed with creating new master discs and pressing out huge quantities of the current ones. So get used to my style, you'll be seeing it more and more often as the years go by.
