(darnit, there I go with my condescending chauvanistic tone once again...)

I transcribed a riff by Ron Thal last night. It's about three seconds
long, and contains about 45 notes. It's from the song "Hangup" from the
album "Hermit." If there are any fans of his work who'd like to take a
crack at it, or anyone guitarists who are just curious as to what he
sounds like, e me. Due to the laceration on my index finger from an
exploding glass at work today I won't get the chance to practice it. Don't
cry for me Ytsejam. The truth is I can't stand Rush.

Yes, he's in the part where Wayne and Garth go backstage to meet Alice Cooper. Keep your eyes open, though. Blink and you'll miss him. Just like finding Jon Bon Jovi in "Young Guns II."

You must. It's classic LaBrie. It's also kinda spooky, so if you're planning on going to bed anytime soon you might want to wait until daylight. This photo could give small children nightmares.

Their first one was entitled Exhumed of the Earth, I believe. Some good stuff if you dig that heavy rock and roll, and can stomach those cookie monster vocals :).

Sorry this is a bit late, but I’ve had ZERO time to check my e-mail lately. Anyway, Pat said:

Got the new Motley Crue cd today and well...It is hard to get a decent opinion but the ballads are like the old crue and the rockers are basically the last album with Vince on vocals.

I’ve actually had the album for the last month or so (and a four-song demo a month prior to that), thanks to a source that shall remain nameless, so I’ve lived with the album for a while. When I first heard it, there were only a handful of songs that leaped out at me: “Afaid” (first single) “Flush,” “Generation Swine,” and “Shout AT The Devil ‘97” (which, IMHO, kicks the shit out of the original version and I loved the original). But now, I think the album is one of their strongest to date. In regards to the ballads, I don’t hear any similarities to past Motley ballads (“Home Sweet Home,” “Without You,” etc), nor does the album really sound like anything Motley has done in the past. There are drum loops, samples, vocal and guitar effects that I’ve never heard before. For the most part they are incorporared well into the Motley sound and it is GREAT to have Vince back, but the sound has definitely gone through some changes.

It has a couple of weird songs where Nikki Sixx sings on one and Tommy Lee sings a song to his son-weird.

I’m in the minority amoung Motley Crue diehards when I say that those two songs should not have appeared on the album. I’ve got no problem with Nikki and Tommy singing a bit on the album, like they do on “Find Myself” and “Beauty” respectively. But how can they call “Rocketship” and “Brandon” Motley Crue songs when only one member of Motley Crue is performing on each song? This is not a comment on the quality of those songs per se, which is another issue. I just think they should have been saved for solo projects.

I have to listen to the cd on a good cd before I can really give a decent opion. Computer speakers just dont cut it.

Especially with this album. There are a lot of little things and effects that can only be heard with a real system. Lots of textures on this album, which leaves room for discovery with every listen.

The packaging takes a lot to get used to...

I knew they would do something strange. AFter all, it is Motley Crue.

I recently ordered the first Magellan album and with it came a flier saying that the album is going to be released July 15th. I am am Stevens fanatic especially after hearing the Atomic Playboys album some years back. I'm glad to see he hasn't quit. Just a thought...

Blaze live, singing Bruce Dickinson's songs,is awful...I think he sings well some musics from the albums with Paul Di'Anno and from The X Factor...

Yes,it isn't a good introduction to Maiden...My favorites albuns are "Powerslave","Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" and "Piece Of Mind"...

Hey, y'all -- I haven't posted in a while, but I just got back from the Queensryche show in Phoenix (Desert Sky Pavilion) and I had to speak up. If there are any of you out there who are still struggling with the decision of whether to fork out the dough to see these guys -- FORK IT OUT, MAN!!! Could there be a better live band on the road right now? Or ever? (Boy, I just invited a wealth of flames, didn't I?) And the sound at the venue was absolutely outstanding (outdoor venues RULE, by the way). Queensryche 'live' is well worth the $$$!!! I wish that they would put out videos from their last two tours -- If you didn't see the Promised Land show, you really missed out. So, don't miss out on this one! You won't regret it...except maybe the opening act Piston (pronounced 'pissed-on'...mmm, clever).
