    >The band has trust in our names? Who could be so naive, to borrow a phrase?

I can't see any way to better phrase that in the context of what i
was saying. But you took that in the wrong direction. What I meant was
that it's not fair for one person's actions to bring shame upon the entire
group, and that's what has happened before, and will happen. Nothing to do
with trusting our names, but rather anyone acting out on the jam is
effectively acting out in the name of the jam. Is that any more clear? We
are all representatives of the jam when we assosiate ourselves with it.
Thus, if one jammer decides to break the request DT set before us, it's bad
    for the whole group.

I totally agree with ya on this Kevin. I personally think that people get
sooooo used to hearing a certain style from a band, that when the new stuff
comes out, they can't handle it. Every band is NOT going to make an album
EXACTLY like their last. It's just a human fact. Just because the album
sounds different than the last, doesn't mean that the band is changing their
    sound, style, whatever.

Shit...it took me at least two weeks to get used to the sound of Awake ;).

Suprising is one thing, but as long as you don't lose yourself in the process.

Bowie, Beatles, SGarden, Cult, MTV, etc.

hmmm....couldn't there be some QR in there please? Oh yeah, PL? One song
that's all. Dammit, this is supposed to be a QR album, not a
    redigest-revomited best-of-what-works album.

And the comment about sound is quite crappy: "relying on the notes"??! what
the heck is that supposed to mean in the 90s where sound is more and more
an ingredient in success compared to pure musicianship? Don't fool
yourself, be there good or bad sound, there's always been a real band
playing, and a hell of a band who I bet don't give donkey's shit about
relying on whatsoever. Please re-read what you've just wrote before
pressing the SEND button next time. I think on the contrary to what you
wrote, that QR have been more and more adventurous on the sound side and
diverse album after album. I insist however that QR are playing safe on the
genre side, and that's the the most unsafe attitude to have.

    1) In response to the posts about getting arrested or fined for having and
trading bootlegs: In Arizona at least, and Im pretty sure the rest of the
states HAVING and TRADING bootlegs is COMPLETELY legal. Nothing can be
done to you for owning them. It is illegal though, to SELL bootlegs,
however most people get around this by selling "used imported live CDs."
    Beats my how that works....

    2) I do not own any bootlegs, except for a KISS bootleg of the last studio
album with Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer that was never released. I really
really really really want to get some high quality Rush and DT boots for a
REASONABLE price. Problem is, none of the record stores I know of the sell
"imports" and bootlegs have anything from DT, and I cant find much from
Rush either. ANyone got anything they want to sell??

To the guy who seem to have problems with the word "Proggressive", I can
    only say:
You can believe whatever you think. If you want VanHalen to be counted as a
Prog-band, well....Do so, but my opinion is that the word proggressive only
fit to those bands usually discussed here, like DT, FW, QR, and so on......

To the guy with the "Devil & the Angel on his shoulders"....Hmmm....aren´t
you the nifty one....Who tought you that???
    No offence.....I kinda liked it.....=)

Last but not least.....How about the DT-FW gig in Germany...is this
    confirmed??

Just got back from the Rainbow show, awesome time indeed. :95 from the master
of the Stratocaster. While I was there I got a ticket for Loudness Thursday
    night
at the Edge in beautiful Palo Alto. Well, not that anyone *really* cares, but
this is Loudness' ONLY American concert appearance. Tix are only $7 and one of
the opening bands features Brian Wheat (formerly of Tesla). So if you're bored
thursday night and Must See TV has become Must Miss TV then drop on by for
    some Japanese Hair Metal.

ps. Opening band tonight was Vicious Rumours and they was incredible!

I don't know exactly when he joined but he is on DP's latest effort released in
1995, Purpendicular. I just picked up a used copy last this week and I think it
could possibly be one of the best albums Purple has ever done. I can't remember
the last time I heard a bands sound change so much by changing guitar players,
but Steve's influence is all over this cd. Damn it kicks ass!

I think not. It comes second, with "definitely" spelled with an A coming first. Oh, and almost forgot our beloved and thus constant misuse of "they're", "there", "their" and so forth. Not to mention "its" spelled as "it's"... ;-)

Could this be the Swedish band DRAIN? With the album "Horror wrestling"? If so, I would just like to warn everyone that they sound very much like Alice In Chains (not necessarily a bad thing).

Caught Motorhead live yesterday. It's amazing how they still rock after all these years.

As for DT blowing Megadeth off the stage, I'd have to say YES! I like Megadeth, but let's face it; they are pretty boring live.

Hey kids! My esteemed thanks to the fellow who gave the Nuno show info! Since I blew my last opportunity at the Birch Hill, now I get a second chance I don't deserve to see Nuno live! The fortuitousness of my reading the jam right after I posted my apologies to others. He's also playing the Middle East in Philly the next day (April 11). Have to decide which show I want to see. But anyway: how does one get tickets to the Mercury Lounge? They aren't on the TicketBastard website. No one wants to make me an ACOS mix tape? *bats eyelashes* Don't tell me I'm going to have to go out and buy a bootleg!? Who can I provoke here... I have nothing in return except money and the Mind Control bootleg. Not that I'm selling the latter, but I can tape it. Still hard to believe I found it used for $11. hehe... Much delayed album review: Collective Soul's Disciplined Breakdown. For those who read the review on the jam that this sounds like the last album, that's exactly right. Their sound overall hasn't changed though I don't think they're songs sound that much alike, which to me is a good thing. They're reliable for good blues rock. The two real standouts so far are Precious Declaration and Blame. Both great songs. As usual Ross Childress tinkers with his lead tones over the course of the album, giving each song a very indivdual feel and texture. I really like this guys melodic soloing and restraint in most situations. Reminds me almost of Eliot Easton. I recommend the album if you liked the last one. At the same time I got the Jedi sndtrk and GC's Space In Your Face (latter on jam recommendations). Haven't given either a good enough listen to warrant a review. But am I the only one who had hoped that the symbol for the Alliance would be the design on the CD this time? (SW: Death Star, ESB: Imperial insignia). Oh, well!

    Happy jamming!

    Andrew

I'd thought I'd introduce a non fix debate topic:

I've listened to the Altura cd for months since I have gotten it. I know some jammers feel Altura just plainly ripped off DT. I dont see it at all.

    Anyone want to elaborate more?
