I'm not exactly the most frequent poster on this list. I don't
post random bullshit just because I feel like it. Last month,
I posted eight times... Most of those posts were DT petition
updates (amount of votes). My other posts are usually about my
Ytsejam MFP/domain-list or the Ytsejam Birthday Calendar. And
of course I can't shut up when some asshole trashes Marillion
for no good reason :) When I complain about the quality of
the Ytsejam (or lack thereof) it's because I care about Dream
Theater, and this list just doesn't phuqin' do them justice.
I can honestly say I'm not proud to be a Ytsejammer. I'm just
here in case some interesting piece of DT information ends up
on this list. Apart from the occasional update from Neil Elliot,
    I'm not holding my breath...

You sure found it interesting enough to read and respond to it :-)
I expected this kind of comment from YOU, hence 8.

Of course you didn't listen, but I didn't expect you to.

Not coming through on a commitment is one thing. People should
establish guidelines beforehand if it is a really a big deal to them BUT
what is the common protocol when a trade was satisfied and the goods
(really) got lost in the mail. This stuff (aka shit) really happens.

    Later,

    Ahoy mates,

Just think... one glorious day you'll login to your isp and check your
mail as usual.... about 4 to 5 Ytsejams will appear in your mail account...
and whoopdedoo, you'll start reading them. While skimming through the
subject lines, one will say something to the tune of "DT RELEASE
DATE!!!!!!!!!!" and you will proceed to engage in a fit of uncontrolled
urination right where you sit. From that day forward, for at least half a
year to come, you will have to hire some poor slob to download, organize,
and summarize your emails for you because you will be getting, oh... say 15
to 20 a day because everyone will be posting posting posting away. Soon you
will recieve a call from your ISP and they'll say, "Look here you little
punk, I don't know what it is you think you're doing, but you've overloaded
our mail server. Keep this up and we'll kill your account." And you'll tell
them about the new DT album thats coming out or has already come out, and
they'll say, "Oh, well, that's understandable then. Sorry for the
inconvenience kind and noble sir. Have an excellent day indeed!" On that
day I'll got down to the hardware store, purchase some materials, and
construct a Majesty logo sculpture in DT's honor right down to all the
other fucked up sculptures at the good ol Houston Intercontinental Airport,
where everyone will drive by and say, "Hey, uh, that's pretty cool."

damn it, can we PLEASE keep this shit to PRIVATE EMAIL?!?!

just because someone else send something to the list doesn't mean that you
need to take it as an excuse to defend your honor to everybody on the list.
nobody wants to listen to you go back and forth about who did what.
PLEASE keep this hit between you two, especially since neither of you
apparently know a thing about the other or what actually happened.
    sort it out between yourselves....

i think it's about time for skadz to make a polite request to the list to
keep personal tirades and retributions off the jam, as needs to be done
periodically when people start to forget... skadz?...

So you are saying it was a privilege to *spend* money to get into
Birch Hill? It was a privilege to be packed in the club like
Dolly Parton's tits into her bra? I respect DT as much as the
next guy (maybe not as much as the guy after him, though), but
I have a hard time seeing someone doing me a favor by selling me
    a product. I don't thank the guy at Taco Bell for taking my money;
they thank me for spending it *there*. I don't think DT is going to stop
touring or making records (that is: making a living) because some
idiots bootleg their show. I have no boot of this, nor do I really want
one, but sometimes I don't understand this misplaced loyalty. At the
end of the day we buy a product which DT happens to be selling. A simple
business transaction. People have argued that bands "owe" the fans
nothing (see: metallica, queensryche), and that they should only be
true to their artistic selves. No problem, but *that* knife cuts both
ways. I like the music DT produces, I respect their musical talents,
but I owe them NOTHING. They have my dollar. I have their product.
    end of story.

The band has trust in our names? Who could be so naive, to borrow a phrase?
The jam is not sponsered by the band. They do not pay Skadz a salary as far
as I know. I repeat, I owe the band *nothing*. I can use the jam for whatever
purpose I choose, to a certain extent. I do not sell boots; this is irrelevant.
BUT...so the band reads this. So what? Just because they produce high-quality
music does not entitle them to any respect on a personal level, only a
    professional
one. If I meet the guys, and they turn out to be good people, and worthy of
    additional
personal respect, fine, but I am not going to worship someone because he or she
is good at his or her profession. Do you worship me? Do I worship any of
    you? No.

    Good Night.

    GO WINGS!

            Hi there!

The Deep Purple show yesterday was AMAZING! Those guys rule!
Steve Morse is an awesome player, as all the others. Ian Paice kicks
lots of asses, that guy rocks! They even played a famous brazilian song
    during the show... :)

About that guy who wanted to start a thread about the things
that happened at DT gigs (sorry, I'm horrible with names :) ): NO! Please
don't make us more anxious than we already are to see DT! :) They've
never come here, and I really hope they come to South America in the next
    tour.

Someone I know told me how when venturing into a used CD store, DT was
playing in the background. What a wonderful experience. Just trying to
throw a bit of DTC on the jam.

Fix for 96 boots - just say no. I want to hear it as much as the next
fan, but I know I won't regret it when I pop in their new album for the
first time. I still remember being blown away by the intro to PMU on I&W
and being kicked in the face (in a good way) with the drum intro to
6:00. But I suppose this is a matter of opinion. I wouldn't want to
disrespect the band though. Especially not on the very jam we pay
    tribute to them on.

And it also makes you wait those 6 long months longer for newer
material to come 3 years before the next album is to be released.
Then while you guys are having premature blueballs waiting for the
next album, I'll still be busily involved analyzeing and learning
every note of the album. :)

I wouldn't mind getting a copy of the Fix boot after the album is

wanna rape my virgin ears just yet. :)

Hrm. Respect is not only dished out to gods and other lesser
deities. Respect is given to those who earn it. I *do* respect
Dream Theater because they have struggled hard to bring their music
to their fans in a time when their music is not popular among many.
I respect them because they are an excellent troup of musicians who
have inspired me more than they will ever know. I respect them as I
will respect the little old lady who wants to cross the street in
front of me, and I don't even know her. I don't *worship* the band.
Hell, I rarely even listen to the band anymore. I thought this was a
place to meet other fans and server as a fanbase to let the band know
that they have our support. Not a place where you can tell them to
lick our asses because we don't give a shit about them.

All I'm saying is that when you play "Doubting Thomas" and say I want to see this request, the only things I can come up with as a reason are that A). you don't believe us, or B). You think we misunderstood a simple request. If I am misreading your statements, then clarify them.

    >No that's incorrect, also - as my only excuse for wanting to do a tape tree >is that I think we should all be discussing and enjoying the material. I >don't need an excuse for my opinion, even if it is different from yours.

Why? Why should we be discussing and listening to this material, when the band asked us not to spread it around? I'm not knocking your opinions, I'm opposing your idea. There is a difference. You want to do a tape tree. I want to follow in accordance with the band's request. These are not issues of opinion. I don't argue about opinions.

    > Why would they not want the music out on a bootleg cd, but not >>mind it on a bootleg tape?

    >They asked that the show not be taped, which I did not do.

You're contemplating starting a tape tree. To be part of that you either have to tape a copy of the show or help other people do so. This is not about MY wishes... I don't care if you want to tape old DT stuff and pass it around. We were asked NOt to do it. If you have ANY respect for the band you can't disagree with this. I truly wish I could get a copy of that post in which it was brought up. That would solve so much for people like yourself... assuming you care. Besides, you didn't answer my question. Further, in saying "They asked that the show not be taped" you lead me to think that you DO believe the band made the request. Why are you still asking for it? I'm not putting words into your mouth. I'll try to be careful about that.

    >Our views differ. You obviously can't see our side of the coin. That's fine.

There ARE indeed two sides of this coin. The Dream Theater fans who will respect the band's intentions, and keep the integrity of this list and all online jammers high, and the greedy people who refuse to do what's right and do everything they can to further their DT collection, regardless of the price the jammers will have to pay.

    >I haven't done anything to break the band's trust.

You're the one that discussed a tape tree for the fix shows, aren't you? Fine... you haven't broken the band's trust until you begin that tape tree.

    >Chris - I mean nothing personal by any of this, but if you're so offended >by the views of some (hopefully most) of the 'jammers, and fear DT reading >this stuff, simply give away all of your DT material except WDADU, I&W, >Awake, ACOS, and promptly resign from this list. I'm afraid bootlegs are a >way of life here, and have been since long before you were a member.

A). I don't fear anyone but Rikki Rachtman; B). I'm not offended... I'm just standing for what I know to be right in this instance; C). the only DT stuff I have that's not a national release, promo, or concert memorabilia, are my Bahr cds. If the band condemns those as well, mine will be destroyed; D). I didn't say "Don't do bootlegs" I said listen to the band's wishes; and E). If you HAVE been here since before about 500, I STILL don't think that's enough time to act like I'm a newbie. I'm willing to calmly discuss this over private e-mail if you want. If you can convince me that the band doesn't care about the Fix boots, I'll even buy you a copy and get it signed for you.
