their most recent album is entitled "irreligious", and is superb, imho.
they should have an EP coming out soon, then another LP. they also put out
a couple demos prior to "wolfheart", one of which was an album entitled
    "under the moonspell" (i think).

    hope this helps.

Ok the other day I was telling someone how loyal DT fans are and of
course I mentioned the jam. So I was wondering how many people are
actually subscribed to this list right now? I wanted to provide this
guy with some numbers since he is a nonbeliever. ANy help would be
    great, thanx.

Please don't mention that song. By combining R.E.M. with the B-52's, such mental images only drive my brain's heel further into the shoe of insanity. Makes it hard to keep things instep, I need to drop ankle somewhere in reality.

As for the Jam being a happy place... You must have been here when, like, Charlie Dominici was still with the band, d00d.

Certainly, sir. The opera from "The 5th Element" is called "Lucia Di Lammermoor" and was the first opera Luciano Pavarotti became famous for performing in. He was virtually unknown until his late twenties when Dame Joan Sutherland (soprano) persuaded the Florida opera companies to book him opposite her for the opera.

There, is that enough Dream Theater content for you? DT RULES!! I love you all!!

Someone should make this and bring it to the next DT show. Hand a big bowl of it to LaBrie during the ballads or sumpin'. "My name isn't LaBrie CHEESE. It's LaBrie. Kevin James FUCKING LaBrie. You're real fuckin' funny, you know that? Ha ha ha. Yeah. Well maybe you can cheese THIS--" (lunges into audience)

Otherwise that post was pretty fucking hilarious, Pat!

    Hmmm...

Sounds like he's saying that expecting everyone to be open-minded makes one close-minded. Basically, if you don't expect anything of anyone you're automatically a pretty open-minded individual. That is, assuming you use gooder grammar than the last guy.

I thought that Disaster Area, the Plutonian Rock Band, held the record for the loudest concert. ;-)

    James G.

The loudest concert I've been to was a Metallica show. I read somewhere (probably the Guinness Book, and I don't mean a book about beers) that the Castle Donnington Monsters of Rock show (headlined by Iron Maiden, if I remember right) hit 138 db during Maiden's set. If your ears weren't bleeding after that one, you must have been out of the country. And I'll bet even that wasn't a guarantee. :)

Hello! Please tell me about the Dream Theater new album.

The new album (an EP actually) is out- its called Learning To Die and is total black metal. The cover features a little girl (much like the IAW cover) having her guts tore out by a pack of wolves. The songs:

Learning To Die Give Me More Pain Caught In A Guillotine Blackened Skies and for a special bonus: James LaBrie Being Burnt To Death (live)

    Other stuff:

The loudest concert I've been to was Danzig in February of this year and it fucking rocked. I thought I was going to be deaf afterwards. My favorite singers are Bruce Dickinson (**how could I not agree), Geoff Tate, Kory Clarke, Jon Oliva, Zak Stevens, and Erik A. Knutson.

Son of a bitch, the other day I was going to pick up Fates Warning APSOG at Media Play here and the bastards didn't have it. Fuck, I was pissed. Instead, I came home with 2 alternative CD's...Tonic's Lemon Parade (one hit wonder w/ If You Could Only See) and Local H's As Good As Dead (currently, the best damn alternative CD I have ever heard).

    Thatsall

I just grabbed the box fulla cds offa my porch and greedily opened it. Inside I found my latest shipment of stuff from the kings of mail order imports, Knights of the Round <http://www.knightsoftheround.com>. What was even cooler was the fact that I ordered a cd by Hades, which I thought was the NJ band Hades(see also: Non-Fiction, Watchtower, etc.) but it wasn't, so the guy didn't put it in or charge me. That's cool. Also, one of the cds I ordered was on back order, so he offered to send it to me later FREE!! I highly recommend this establishment! So, what cds did I buy? Tribute to Judas Priest Volume II, which so far (I am on track 3) rocks serious ass. If you like German Power Metal et al, this is the volume to buy. It has Stratovarius (not German, but I was referring to the genre), Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Nevermore, Angra, Leviathan, Forbidden, Gamma Ray, and others. Woo hoo! I also got Symphony X - Divine Wings of Tragedy, Coroner - No More Color, Conception - Flow, and Candlemass - Nightfall. I love it when new cds arrive! Whoa! What is fucking (there's that word) Nevermore doing to "Love Bites?????" Ah - heaven.

    GO WINGS!

YOu probably know just as much (little?) as the rest of us.. hopefully the rumor (or do we know it for a fact?) that it is being recorded as we speak, produced by Kevin Shirley (latest Journey, latest Aerosmith) and will be released by the begining of 1998 is true.

By the way, the Latest issue of Modern Drummer magazine (June 1997, w/ Chad Gracey from Live on the cover) has a pretty cool interview with Kevin Shirley, who is producing the new album. Cool!

    <SNIP>

What a great article, but I think some of the info is incorrect. I could've sworn that Promised Land is Platinum in the US already, and I'm SURE that Slang and the Def Leppard greatest hits album released a little earlier are gold (500,000) and platinum (1,000,000), respectively, at the VERY LEAST.

There are two things that the article neglects: 1) bands like Ozzy, Megadeth, Van Halen, and AC/DC who still release multi-platinum albums and 2) Who fills up the arenas and larger outdoor venues?? It isnt Bush, The Offspring, Pearl Jam, and especially not Silverchair, who still play half full shows at smaller, older arenas and civic centers, but it is the same metal and arena hard rock bands that always have: Metallica, Ozzy, who has been to Phoenix 4 times in a little over a year and a half, and every single show has sold out (the first was at a 10,000 capacity venue, and the last three at the same 19,000 capicity venue), AC/DC's last show here was sold out, Pantera and White Zombie consistantly sell out 10,000 to 15,000 capacity venues, and bands like Alice Cooper, the Scorpions, and Rush still draw huge crowds (as well as pop/rock bands like Aerosmith, Phil Collins, KISS, and U2).

MTV can sell albums, but they cant sell concert tickets cause the majority of people who watch eMpTyV are pre-teens who cant afford tickets and whose parents wouldnt let them go anyways.

It's a good thing Rush decided to use an "R" as the first letter in the name of their band. Otherwise they might have been called "Bush" or "Lush" and those bands suck.
