What is Merry Axemas? Does it include members of DT?
Hell, I was happy to see that JP and MP are doing another project!
BTW, if any of you still think Kevin Shirley is a bad producer, I am still
inclined to disagree. FII is great, but I am also a HUGE Journey fan.
I was raised on Journey because of my older brother and sister. I must
say, "The Caveman" is great at producing Journey! If you haven't listened
to their latest work TRIAL BY FIRE, get it and listen to it. You will
know what I mean by good producing!

P.S. Steve Perry is the only guy I can honestly put next to James LaBrie in
the vocal section....Steve Perry has one of the best voices to ever come
into the music scene (IMHO).

Great! FII debuted at #52. But its not too hard to debut at 52..... The
real test of "popularity" on the charts is a run of many weeks on the chart,
like Dark Side of The Moon (hehe thats a little extreme) but you know, at
least 20-30 weeks on the chart. I've seen countless albums make the chart
the first few weeks and quickly dive off again.... not that it means shit to
me. I mean just being realistic, taking into account how fickle the record
buying public is...... do you REALLY think FII is going to become very
popular? Come on.....be honest.
Oh, I did read a fairly long interview in METAL EDGE with the whole band
(sans DS) If you have a chance check it out... it was good reading. JLB
really made it obvious that he is the one more that anyone else in the band
that wants DT to become a real popular group. They talked a lot about how
this time around the recording process was a LOT different than on any of
their previous albums, and a TON about how Kevin influenced them throughout.

After that you should buy 1996 which is live 2CD and contains all good songs
before Paradox.

Right, man, I wrote this about Prater. Don't bame me and think that I acn't
understand what you feel - I am a bassist myself, so that is great that now
Myung is heard so weel, that I can get his lines much easier, but still I
consider Awake (and I&W) better mixed because on FII the bass sounds a
little bit too loud - I guess that teh rhythm section should not be that
loud, as one of the famous bassists said: A good bassist should always be
ready to be almost unhearable....

You're not the only one... I wouldn't go so far as calling that part 'shit',
but this is the *only* moment in all of DT's songs that I really don't like.
I'm just glad that they took it out of PMU where it's originally from... I
just hate that neo-classical guitar playing in general. That's probably one
of the reasons that I'm not too excited about Symphony X. TDWOT is a good
disc (a lot better than The Damnation Game IMO), but some of those parts are
still pretty annoying to me...
Disclaimer: The above paragraph was not meant to offend anybody who enjoys
that neo-classical guitar stuff, so calm down.
Something completely different:
Does anybody know if there has been any statement from the band about that
collaboration with Desmond Child? I think YNM is a great song (although I'm
not sure if it will age as well as most of DT's other stuff, we'll see...),
but I just can't imagine that DT asked their label for help with the
songwriting...
My nipple about FII after almost two weeks:
It's not perfect. But it's still fantastic. Best album I've bought since, uh,
ACOS probably... I like it even much better than Spock's Beard's Beware of
Darkness which is saying *a lot*...

Any Meshuggah fans around here? No, they're no DT, but definitely
#2 on my list. If anyone's got any info on them send it my way. All I
know is they're Swedish, and if you like the heavy technical stuff
you'll love 'em. They're all really good, but the drummer is killer-
and the band is.....dare I say....tighter than DT? They're almost too
tight, TOO good. Somethin' must be up...
