It sounds like a circus...guy saying "Step right up, folks." It makes
sense if you consider what James is saying overtop.

Hey all!
Does anyone have info on the new Savatage? Like has it been
released in the US? I saw an import of it, but I'm less than willing to
spend $35 on these guys right now. Any info by private mail would be
appreciated!
Also, I'm making up my web page, so if anyone has any bright
ideas to contribute, let me know. Otherwise it will be another hopeless
repetition of everything else on the net. Big surprise there... Later
folks!

>> Anyway, we need to get him interacting with us again, because unlike much >> of the band, he respected how influential we are. It irritates me that we >The band has more respect for us than you think, particularly Mike. I think >the problem is that their hands may be tied in expressing it.

In this respect I think the JAM is the one that's screwed up. What makes ME angry is when Ytsejammers start saying things like "They're not respecting us" or getting jealous over things that they're not getting and think they should be. The Ytsejam shouldn't be a big street gang. We're not here to exact our will upon the band, the industry or whatever. If you want to make a list designed to change the fuckery going on in the music industry, I'll be happy to join and discuss that there, but this is not that forum. I get mad when people act like the band owes us something special just because we're Ytsejammers. We helped get ACoS released... we made our voices heard with the petition... but beyond that, we're just a bunch of Dream Theater fans (and some really fucked up YtseStalkers who I'm sure the world could do without).

>]From what I can tell, that's not 100% accurate. Now, I'm not sure, so don't >take this as infallible, but I *THINK* that Elektra had just scheduled some >studio time for DT when they received the petition.

What we do know for sure is that they got the Petition AFTER they were scheduled for a meeting with Elektra. That means they were gonna go into the studio anyways. We merely showed our support, and that's more than enough for me.

>> James when introducing ACOS, and even then he sounds a bit sarcastic. >> We're the real fan club, but who gets the fucking Christmas CD? Not us.

Grrrrrr!!!! How the fuck much money did you pay to join this list? Those things cost MONEY to make. Skadz is donating a service to us for FREE. If you want to bitch about not getting shit, bitch to Skadz (who will eat you alive) or do something to get the Ytsejam affiliated with the label so they will fund expenditures like that. Don't bitch about not getting anything. The fucking digest is what you get, and if that ain't good enough, unsub.

>only evident on bootlegs, or something. I don't know why James is so >anti-Ytsejam, anti-Internet, but it's starting to piss me off.

If he IS anti Ytsejam, it's because we're not always a good fun loving group. Some of us do some really uncool things (YtseStalking.... leave the fucking band alone!) ... (And the management!). The members of the band as a whole may not understand that we're a very amorphous group, and this medium can be very volatile. Overall, we're very good... but without ever being on a 1000 member mailing list, the band my not appreciate why things get ugly sometimes. They're the glue that holds this together as one of the best musical discussions in the world.

>Maybe, but that's not the point. How many pages of names were dropped off >on East/West's doorstep? Not one word about the Ytsejam in FII. I think >that's unacceptable.

I have to wonder if it was intentional. In truth, I think it was just because they didn't have much space to allow for extra thanks here and there... but I wonder if the guys didn't do it on purpose to see who would bitch. They don't owe us anything, but they will give you thanks if you meet them. They appreciate you buying the album. They appreciate you going to the shows. I know they're glad we like the music. But why do we deserve such special treatment? We're not elite... we just discuss the band on a convenient medium, through which we can accomplish things more easily than we could over the phone, or elsewhere. If you knew 900 Fates Warning fans in your city, you could -try- to get them all to signa petition to get them back out on tour at bigger venues... but we HAVE 900 people are sitting here ready to point and click their names into little boxes if it will get them an album sooner. When the petition was made, the group involved decided that they wanted as little recognition as possible for organizing it. They agreed that they would refuse any offering of "thanks" other than a handshake, if one were offered. It was done because they are fans of the band, and want to show their support. Why it should be any different for the members of the list, is beyond me.

>Fuck the fan club. We have over 1000 people talking about Dream Theater >every single day of the year, including Christmas. Now that's a fan club. >I don't need to send someone my $15 to hear about DT 4 times a year.

Then don't reap the benefits of being a member of the fanclub. Since this list is not affiliated with Elektra or the management in _any_ way, THIS IS NOT THE FUCKING FANCLUB. If it were the fanclub, we'd have maybe 10 letters from jammers every other month, and the rest would be Fan Club personnel relating DT news. The label wouldn't pay for us to discuss the band, and it wouldn't be right to reserve this status for only the computer owners and internet literate.

>We used to be the shit. The guys showing up at Ytsecon I, the IRC session >with JM and MP, C-man having contests and sending us cool promotional shit. > I even had another E/W rep send me a bunch of shit once, because I bitched >about Scarred not being on the Awake cassette. We were appreciated back >then. Now, we can't even get a fucking 'Thank You'.

Maybe you'd accept a "FUCK YOU" instead? Are you an only child? I don't know how you got so spoiled... "I bitched, so they gave me stuff"... that's not reality. Maybe it was for a little while. I bet there's no one who appreciates what you're saying any less than the band or the label. Except maybe me. You make me sick.

I am halfway done transcribing Deep in Heaven for 6 string (Which is what it's played on... I note that mainly because I tend to play 7 string for everything, and found some benefits to using it for this solo, in fact). I will donate it to the UACM page when I'm done, if Itchy wants it. If you or anyone else wants to drop me an e-mail, I will mail you my finished product. I am using Bucket O' Tab (Which you can dl from my FTP at ftp://ftp.prognosis.com for now, though I am not a permanent distributor) and it's not easy to mark note values, so you'll really need to have your cd with you when you're learning it.

If anyone wants to do the rest of ToT, we can put em together. I may also transcribe the keyboard solo for guitar, but you'd better be a tapping/legato bad ass if you wanna play it. Also, I've learned, but not Tabbed LitS, if any 7 stringers want it.

EVERYBODY!, Due to me being extremely busy, I have very little time to read posts on the digest. For this I apologize. Because of this, I missed any posts that that may have listed the DT tour dates. I know they are supposed to do the Christmas shows again this year. If you know the dates, or a place where I can positively get them, please e-mail me privately. Don't think that someone else reading the post will mail me, because they wont. Last time I asked, all I got was someone else writing me, asking me to fill them in if they found out. I've helped out many people in this community with many things over the past few years that I have been on. If someone could please return the favor, I would be indebted to them. I checked all over the web and I have come up empty handed. Please Help!!!!!

I believe that 'tWoM' won't be released in the US untill January next year, have a look at the Savatage web site, there is some info about the reason for the delay. The TSO CD is getting re-released and a push from the record company, so they don't want the new Savatage to interfere with the potentail sales of TSO. Great logic, huh ? Yeah the new album is great, reminds me of a heavier version of Styx for some reason.
