Ok, here is the scenario, and looking out to the Ytsejam community to help me out with this....
Half Naked is beginning their reunion tour on Thursday. The problem is I have a head cold, and I'm congested up the ass, which can be a problem for a singer....
So here is my question to you:
How can I clear this up, or what should I do so that everything is ok when I go on on Thursday???
Here are some thoughts of mine:
1.) About 2 hours before-hand, do some TheraFlu.... 2.) About 1/2 hour beforehand, douse myself with Vicks VapoRub. 3.) During the show, eat 3 Halls MenthoLyptus tablets while singing. 4.) Right beforehand, do about 4 shots of brandy (mostly just to be drunk enough to *think* I sound fine.....
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated...........

Hmmm.... The intro to erotomania is about eight seconds long and consists of four chords... I don't even remember scarred's ending so I'll give you that one... The intro to Caught in a Web is very short as well and it hardly*features* the keyboards...I guess I'll give you the intro to six o'clock, even though I don't really think the keyboards are featured there either.... and SDV was written entirely by Kev, and I wouldn't really call that an ensemble piece either; notice that I didn't cite WFS as an example from IaW... Why am I even responding to you? I said that they might be "moving in the direction of "guitar band"". You can find some stupid exception to any generalization, but it doesn't make my generalization wrong, and it certainly doesn't make you right. It's obvious that if I write anything suggesting that the band hasn't gotten better with every ablum, you're going to have a fit because it means so much to you that this band not dissapoint you that it's actually worth going into denial over. If you like Awake better than IaW, fine, I'm not going to suggest that you don't know what you like. But if you can listen to WDADU and IaW, then listen to Awake and what's available of the new material, and still tell me that you think the keyboards are just as much of a presence now as they used to be, then I think you're a fool. And that's just my opinion, so argue it all you want, but you haven't said anything that would even come close to swaying my opinion yet, so I hope you were saving your best arguments for later. And next time you respond to my post, don't take that condescending asshole tone, and I'll be more civil in my response, too. I posted an opinion which I tried to back up. The intro to 6:00 is all keyboards, except that it has that sound that makes you question whether it is keyboard or guitar. Awake has a lot of that sound on it. An angry, dirty keyboard sound that just isn't present on Images. Although I think the sound was right for Awake (since it was an angry, depressing album), I like the keys much better on Images. I love it when the guitar and keys are easy to differentiate, but complement each other perfectly. Based on Portnoy's comment, it sounds like the new album will have a lot of guitar-like keyboard sounds on it, which I'm skeptical about. I've also had about enough of the 7-string, although I love it at the beginning of ACOS. Oh, and the wah-wah pedal has to go. Don't get me wrong, Awake is probably my favorite album, but these are aspects of it that I would like to see severely cut back on in the future.

Okay, I can totally see your point of view on the triggers and the dynamics of the production. However, I still believe that the production style for I&W fit DT the best. It had a really hi-tech, glossy, slick sound to it that totally compliments Dream Theater's remarkable musician/craftmanship. I disagree that DT got more experimental in the studio with Awake. Awake is a great sounding album, but it seems that it was approached with more of a documentative production style - capturing the band live. I really see no evidence of any kind of experimentation in the studio for Awake. Think about the guitar layering on I&W with the electrics and acoustics, then compare with the tones on Awake. Yes, on Awake, an amazing guitar sound was achieved, but was there any real variation in the tones, other than what JP had already established for his live rig??
The triggers can be frustrating at times (eg. drum rolls), but I really dont think they sound as horrible as what has been presented by people on this list. I think Prater's cool.

I'm sure, that "Falling Into Infinity" will be awsone.
My Opinion about the 3 real audio songs, I've download :
"A New Millenium" : is really great. Derek's style of playing is incredible. This song is a mix of Awake, Images and something new. Even a real prog song.
"Hell's Kitchen" : I love this instrumental. It's much better then the middle part from the fix version of "Burning My Soul" (especially the last part). All Dream Theater's instrumental songs are really great. Btw, the old version was also really good.
"Take Away My Pain" : Well, now after listening to it more then 10 times, I like this version too. It's still a really good song. The Original version was a little bit better. Maybe, because it was so sad.
But we have to wait and hear the complete album on CD.
I just can't wait longer. Where can I get a promo CD ?

Accidentally removed /dev/fd0 one day and couldn't access the floppy no mo :( During reboot, AIX detected the problem (well, ok, it didn't detect ME, but...) and reinstalled the driver. Kinda puts the 'operating' back in Operating System, don't it? :)
