    Hello! I need some help...

I was corresponding with Jeff (Chaos Theory's former vocalist), and I
accidently deleted his email before I wrote down the address. If anyone
knows it, or if Jeff is in fact reading this, would you please send it to me?
    Thanks! (AWAKE77@AOL.com)

i heard peruvian skies on Q102 yesterday. they said they they
also played burning my soul a couple of weeks ago. this was the
first tim ei had heard any of the new material (i havent gotten any
tapes of the shows since '95, and i dont have a sound card) so this
was my first opinion...peruvian skies didnt do anything for me until
the jam section at the end, which was decent. it was nice to hear
double bass drums on the radio station that usually plays alternative
    stuff...

    Hi everyone,

Someone was talking about how Devin Townsend was swearing at the audience at a SYL concert. Well, the guy is in *a lot* of pain right now. When he sings, he holds onto a note, and will keep going. After doing this a couple of times, you lose some oxygen your blood. And after a few hundred times you pass out from not enough oxygen. You, also start to move your viens! I've heard that some of Devin's stomach-type viens were, uh lowered, if you know what I mean. It seems there's a new member of SYL, his name is Gordon the Impaler. :)

"And if you take one from one hundred and sixty-five, what remains?" "Three hundred and sixty-four, of course." Humpty Dumpty looked doubtful."I'd rather see that done on paper," he said. Ok, Savatage will be playing three US dates before heading off for Europe. The Oct 17th show is at the Birch Hill(oh no!). The other two are in the northeast, but I forget where. Check out the Savatage page for details... http://www.savatage.com That URL is really hard to remember sometimes. ;)

The other thing I wanted to mention was, that the US release of TWoM is now somewhere in Jan. This happened because the disc was not released early enough in Japan, which caused the European disc to be shipped later, which caused the US disc to be released late Nov/early Dec. And since the TSO disc is coming out in Dec, they don't want to compete against themselves. So, they pushed the release to Jan. The Japan & Europe CD's have the same track listing as the US, so they need extra time to sell it. Or their markets would be flooded with US CD's. Okay, this topic has been on here before, but I've been studying up on this. (disclaimer:I don--can't sing :) I've noticed that if you eat something really hot, as in spicy(I can see the jokes already), it clears up any junk you have in your nose. Also, for those of you who are in Canada, buy lots of Excel! It's so minty fresh, it can clear up your nose in no time! I think it's illegal in the US, for having too much minty goodness in it! :)

I never, once, made that claim, although I happen to be one.

Secondly, condemn me for a slip of the finger, please, when I hit 4 instead of 1. You get my point? I'll retell the story to show you the often human-mistake of typing too fast. After the release of WDADU and the short east coast tour that followed (Mechanics couldn't finance an international tour, much less a national one, nor could they finance a video), Charlie Dominici was fired due to vocal constraints (he wasn't going in the direction that they wanted him to) and bad live performances. While searching for a new vocalist between 89 and 91, they played instrumental versions of songs and experimented with such vocalists as John Hendricks and Chris Cintron. They where ready to hire John Arch until they recieved a tape from one K. James LaBrie and the decision to hire LaBrie as the new vocalist did not even reqiure thought. He was hire din 1991 and they recorded I&W in the summer of '92. The end. Happy, Abel?

    >4.Wake Up!(Saitama, Japan 1-24-95)2 CDS-$45.00

Yesterday, I went to the Record and Tape Exchange, a used CD store, and once again found "Wake Up!" huddled in with the rest of the metal CDs (metal bands like Joe Satriani -- Iron Maiden is in with rock). The price on that one was $30. Sorry 'bout the outbidding (above), but that's what they're charging. Like I said once before (I think?), I'm willing to pick it up for anyone that wants it. 'Course, with sales tax and shipping it comes to about $33.50, but that still ain't bad. I've got "Mind Control" already, so I don't really "need" it... Drop me an E-mail if'n you're interested.

Also, I just want to promise to everyone right here and now that when FII becomes mine, I will *not* post a review. That's right, no review whatsoever. Isn't that a lovely thought?

I will, however, post a "visual music" of the entire album, which will take up at least 14 'Jams because I like to use a lot of vowels.

I noticed on a recent jam someone said that their local rock station had played "Burning My Soul," and that we should all send e-mail to that station asking them to continue to play it. This sounds like a good idea to me, and in fact, why not extend it further? The local rock station here in San Jose, California (KSJO 92.3) has a web page from which you can make song requests. The URL for requests is:

    http://www.ksjo.com/music/suggestions/suggestions.html

I would encourage those of you who have an extra few minutes to go to this web page and request Burning My Soul. You will be helping Dream Theater by giving them more airplay, thus exposing them to a larger audience. Does anyone else want to mention a local radio station to contact?

Exactly. What I remember reading was that Kevin Moore's heart wasn't in it anymore. He didn't like the musical direction Dream Theater was taking, and as a result he ended up contributing less to Awake. Just try to imagine how much more brilliant Awake could've been ! :-)

go to a concert.....the end. ;) here's the dragged out version:

heheh... the "Voices" in my head keep sailing on.... I mean, I must be hearing things because an "ensemble" means more than one right? and SDV is not ALL piano like WFS...right....? ok. moving on.... My professional opinion (although I'm no doctor) is that the Awake keyboards are more subtle (e.g. - the distorted-ness of 6:00 keys, Scarred, etc). Which ultimately leads to your case stating that you dislike the new twists on the Awake album although you also say that DT didn't add "new" stuff and they're turning into a "guitar band". That, in turn, leads to the fact that you may fall into the generalization of people that you want every album to sound "similar".

    > Why am I even responding to you? But if you can >listen to WDADU and IaW, then listen to Awake and what's available of the new >material, and still tell me that you think the keyboards are just as much of >a presence now as they used to be, then I think you're a fool.

I disagree. a lot. and I'd like to think I'm not a fool. First, judging from this post, you seemed to be asking for this type of response. Second, PREGO- it's in there. Unfortunately you may be suffering from an acute hearing disability that renders you incapable of hearing keyboard sounds that blend with the guitar. ;) and third: if the keyboards weren't as much of a presence as they are in ANY given album then DT wouldn't be DT. If you go into an album with preconceived ideas then you're not listening. If they drop the keyboardist they might as well re-name the band.

    >I posted an opinion which I tried to back up. If you disagree, fine, say so, >but I wasn't attacking you so I see no need for the sarcasm. > -Clark well here's my opinion which I tried to back up. I disagree and I endeavored to NOT use sarcasm. ;) On a little side note: My past views of the 'jam is that approximately 70-ish percent of the jammers are keyboard players. Now, isn't that the same as going into a donut shop and asking for a McD's Happy Meal??? ;)

I don't necessarily agree with this. Although Kev's mind was wondering, I think he was still an integral part of the writing of Awake, and it's certainly evident lyrically. Most of the album reflects the pain of Kevin's announced departure from DT, from both sides of the coin. I think it's a masterpiece that a band could capture the emotion of a member leaving, on an album that still features that member. I believe Awake could not have been more brilliant. Awake also seems to me like an appropriate tribute to Kevin, because I think it's hard to listen to that album and not think about him, his departure, and his previous contributions to the band.

Just my thoughts. I'm actually quite surprised at the punches this album has been thrown lately. Maybe it's because yours doesn't include Eve and TLF.
