    I'm annoyed.

The person/people who printed out the lyrics in the FII booklet must
have been smokin' some industrial strengthed weed! There are A TON of
    mistakes.

    YOU NOT ME:
    - "TELLING(should be SELLING) me lines I've already read."
    - "It's all ABOUTYOU not me."
    - "and all that YOUIRE expecting me to give."
    - "It's all ABOU you not me."

    PERUVIAN SKIES
    - "I'm taking all of this TIME(???) with me when I go."

    BURNING MY SOUL
    - "and you ask me why my HAIRS (should be HAIR'S) gray."

    LINES IN THE SAND
    - "SOMETIME (should be SOMETIMES) we dig an early grave"

    ANNA LEE
    - "To steal from you the INNOCENSE that bleeds."

This simply should not have happened. The Spell Checker was invented a
long time ago and proofreading is certainly not a new concept. Reading
the lyrics to YNM for the first time was painful.

I really disagree with you on this. I suppose that you don't play any
instrument, because if you did, you'd notice the complexity of I&W
compared to Master of Puppets. I think I&W is on a much higher level
than any album from Metallica. (Don't know this Morningrise you
    mention).

I like Metallica, and I have the MoP CD. In fact, it was one of the
first CDs I learned to play (I'm a bassist). Metallica used to be one of
my favorite bands, until I discovered I&W and the rest of DT's albums.
They made me change my perspective of what a musician should be.

If I were a member of DT, and some fan mentioned that I&W was "as good
as Master of Puppets", I would feel very dissapointed knowing that there
are people out there who can't distinguish between a piece of gold and a
    piece of wood.

      Hi there,

I'm sure this post is gonna get lost in all those profound reviews of
'Falling Into Infinity' [sarcasm mode off], but here it goes...

As some of you know, I maintain a very popular Dream Theater website,
called 'Under A Cyber Moon'. On the European release date of 'Falling
Into Infinity', I realized Dream Theater had changed... matured. That
made me realize how dated 'Under A Cyber Moon' looked, and decided to
rebuild the site from scratch giving it a fresher and more consistent
look. All the old 'ingredients' are still there, though. (news, FAQ,
bio's, discography, songbook, tabs, midi's, programs, #Ytsejam page).

             Under A Cyber Moon - http://www.prognosis.com/dream/

Please take a look, and let me know what you think (itchy@dreamt.org)

      Thanks :-)

Now, was that neccesary, you cock sucking motherfucker ? :-)

    > open to criticism. Some of us fans are still under the impression
    > that bands like Dream Theater care what their supporters think.

Sure, Dream Theater probably does care about what their SUPPORTERS
think... It's just that there don't seem to be many of them on the
Ytsejam right now. There are more "Dream Theater fans" BASHING FII
for whatever reason, than there are people bashing the Spice Girls
for not having ANY musical talent at all... You know, criticism is
not neccesarily a bad thing, but the shit some Jammers have posted
is just TOO MUCH. Most people would not even bitch that much about
bands that they HATE. Dream Theater sure are lucky, with fans like
that (I wanted to put the word fans in quotes, but that would have
fucked up my perfectly left and right justified paragraph !). :-)

I suggest everyone takes a deep breath, before they post something
that could cause three extra digests of flaming. Just a thought...

I'd like to add that I am starting to love 'Falling Into Infinity'
even *more* than 'Images And Words' (previously my favourite Dream
      Theater album).

Does anybody own Lost in The Sky? I am just wondering. It is a great bootleg
right off the sound board. Also, what is the quote from Hamlet at the end of
Pull me Under? (It is something like Oh that this too,too old flesh would melt)
I don't remember it word for word. Also, does anyone else hear Sheranian
on You Not Me in the beginnig, it sounds like he is doubling the bass. It is
really faint, so either listen carefully or on headphones. One last unrelated
question.....DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I WOULD BE ABLE TO PURCHASE A POSTER OR
    TEE SHIRT FOR SOUTH PARK?????

I, for one, grew out of my "cock rock" phase years ago. But I suppose if
I were some rock 'n' roll slut I'd be shaking my booty and bumping and
grinding with the rest of 'em if I wanted to. Stuff he's done with
Aerosmith *does* have a groove and gives you almost no choice but to move
about in a sexually suggestive manner, so I guess I can see why someone
would make that observation. However, "You Not Me" is NOT such a song.
I have WAY too much respect for DT than to give away lap dances in the
middle of their set. Let the "groupie types" (who don't belong at prog
shows in the first place) do *that* shit. Does that answer your
    question?

    Thank you, thank you. :)

Just to make this clear because I know this is going to be held against me the next time a make typo, or do something stupid. I'm not trying to flame Eckie. I think by his response, he knows that I was kidding around and not trying to be hurtful. If not, Eckie I wasn't trying to be hurtful. From a couple of my last posts I have received some mail by some people who feel I've been kinda anal, hurtful, or something of that nature. If I came across that way, sorry I didn't have that intention. I was just pointing out that you shouldn't point out, or something. :) No hard feeling to anyone except maybe the person who wrote the post I'm about the reply to now...

Ok, I'll listen to the album, and /not/ think about who influences it & what it sounds like. [seriously] Ok, I'll go with that mindset with your post.

    > the conclusions that i think you all should get from it that the > band,on the comlex of the song, they steped a step BACK,a big step > back! and the bigest step back in this album is the orginality!

What does a "big step back" mean? I've never heard this musical term before.

    > every single song in this album can be idenify as another artist they > rip it of from! it's just not that!

Hey, I think you're about to break the rules from above.

    > if i wanna hear pink floyd i'll hear pink floyd!

[shit, you did break them, big-time] Wait that would be thinking about who influenced it & what bands it sounds like!

    > if i wanna hear metallica i'll hear metallica and not burning my > soul!

Wait that would be thinking about who influenced it & what bands it sounds like!

    > the special characteristic that involved the light rock, heavy metal > and even the touch of the son of jazz:fusion!

And that(and more) is all on FII. (by the way, this also is about how DT influenced)

    > i know that alot of you guys say things like: the more you hear > it,the more you like it, or that you only have to get use to it- > but i don't wanna "get use" to it!

So, you'll never "get" FII. Simple, right?

    > i don't wanna go backwards in my music style!!

So, don't listen to it. Thinking DT is going to do what you want them to do, is flat out dumb.

[snip portrait of a young asshole snip]

    > BUT that's not only me! every friend i have had similar phases and > consider FII as a big step back! nobody here like it at all!

Good! Go out and find stuff you like(and don't judge music by which stuff your friends like). There's a lot of music out there. I'm sure you'll like something. Music is fun, don't make it out to be some sort of competion between which band is "better."

    > that's why i don't understand you guys! i thought that the fact that > you guys like DT showed a big musical understanding, that can idenify > a step back when they see one.

So, if someone has a "big musical understanding" they know what is a "big step back." Hmm, that would also mean that anyone with a "big musical understanding" wouldn't like FII. Do I need to go further with my point? > that's why i think my self as a good guitar player

Good for you. Not only are you a good guitarist. But, you know exactly what we shouldn't listen to. Great job. But, you know I thought I could pick out music that I liked. Thanks for taking the time out of your day to set me straight. :-P

    > good guitar player-from chords > to notes to technique to feel, and now i have the combination of all > of them!

]From this I gather that you make you're own music, right? So, go out and get it on tape(or CD or whatever). And give it to some labels. Maybe you'll be picked up. Then when you put out your second album, I can say "he took a big step back." Because that phrase is going to be taken differentally, by different people.

[snip crap about feeling yourself up snip]

    > that's another complain about JP playing, allthough he has a GREAT > control of the keys in the most AMAZING way,you can't skip that, but > he is so busy showing of his technique that it's frustrating!

That's what FII is! DT mellowing out a little. Someone on here(partha?) who said that this album shows that DT doesn't need to do a wanky solo to make a good song, anymore. Go and listen to FII, again.

    > for example the solo of trail of tears-the 3rd chord of the progress > is making a big change in the notes on the key,i think that i'd had > to work on the progress for like few hours so i'll have to get use to > it,but john starts his 5 finger strech hammer on! i was very > dissapointed from that....

Whoa, you're saying that you don't like the song just because of one hammer on!?! What have you been smoking!?!

OK. Rush has TNMS where I have read countless articles on the web from Rush's past and gotten a great perspective on the thoughts of the band at the time of the article and their evolution. How about DT? Do we have a similar archive of articles? If so, where? If not, can we compile one?
