Of course Opeth is cool. :-) Expect a mailing list in the future,
as soon as I figure out how to configure this damn ezmlm (the list
    manager).

I don't know of any other death/black metal bands with mailing
    lists, BTW. :-)

And you ask yourself "Portnoy or Bahr ?". ;-)

Anyway, I've got a request for "Under A Cyber Moon"... I am looking for websites of venues DT will be playing at, so I can link to those sites from the list of tour dates. If you know an URL for a venue, please email it to me at itchy@dreamt.org so I can link to it.

Somebody mentioned they'd waited 2 months for an order from Laser's Edge...yeah, I've had some long wait times from them too...then again, sometimes it gets here in a week. One time, I emailed Ken G. and asked about availability...he replied, saying all systems go...and when the order arrived, it was one CD short. On the upshot, there was a note saying they'd run out and a voucher for 16 bucks from LE. Oh well. Speaking of mail order sources....www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/4500--this is M&M Music's address...they've got some really good stuff, and it's never taken longer than a week to get an order...(No, this is not a paid advertisement *lol*)

One more comment on LTE...the dropoff towards the end of 3 Minute Warning is a really big blemish...I wouldn't say it ruins the track but it's noticeable...is there any reason they couldn't have mixed that part differently to cover the difference in sound? Another question--why is it divided up into five different tracks? I don't get the point of splitting it up like that...any comments?

Ok, here's the thing...Mike Bahr creates CDs of rare/live/whatever ->DREAM THEATER<- material. Many people on here buy/have bought/will buy those CDs. Many of those same people felt ripped off or whatnot; this was an issue that needed to be addressed. I agree that it went on awfully long, and I'm glad it's over, but it was an important issue, related indirectly to Dream Theater and directly to their fans. I for one am thankful to see people on here looking out for other fans by letting them know what's going on and addressing timely, important issues. And, no matter what you say, this was timely and important. Therefore, your caps-lock-happy post was much more of a worthless waste of space than the Bahr thread was.

Ok this is bothering me so I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Run and grab your LTE cd and put it on track 5. Notice that from about 2:40 to 4:45 the song is very tense as they build and build and build. I love songs like this because just as you feel like you have to go break something the song hits a climax. In SoG though, the "climax" is just a little B&C riff that doesn't really relieve the tension very well. Later on JP restates the main theme which raps it up nicely, but there's a good 3 minutes between when you're liable to go throw the cat out the window. Anyone else have this problem?

Well, finals and graduation draw near, I feel like I'm in a pressure cooker, and it takes three hours to fall asleep each night. I can barely eat from the stress, I have been living through a constant, 2 month anxiety attack, I don't know what the hell to do when I graduate because the simple fact of the matter is that I'm useless to society.

So I said to myself, "I think I'll make a rock album!"

It will be called the Anal Retention Experiment and will feature such tracks as:

Broomsticked Ass Fill It Out In Triplicate Or I'll Bitchslap Your Ass to Timbucktu The Funky Butt-Cheek Chafe-orama For God's Sake Kill Me, I Want To Die

And many more. I can't actually play any instruments(well, clarinet but that doesn't do much good here), so I got Queensryche to do all that stuff. They were just sitting around eating fruit roll-ups by the dumpster when I asked them and man, were they glad to get off their ass.

That's odd. It's never taken more than a week and a half from the date I mailed my check to get my CDs from the Laser's Edge. And if they didn't have a CD I ordered, I just got a credit slip.

Kizer already posted the set list and everything so here are just a few of my thoughts. This show kicked some serious ass!!!!! I saw the APSoG show in the summer and this was even better because they played more songs, including some classics. The Ivory Gate of Dreams is 10 times heavier live than it is on the album. All the songs rocked. -there was more interaction with the crowd from Ray -Jim looked bored again, I guess that is just how he is -I was hoping for the Spanish guitar during Monument but he used his electric again. Even though there was another guitarist, and he had used it already during APOSG -Zonder kicks ass, enough said

I must say though, something is wrong with you people. Like last time, almost everybody just stands around. Only a handful of people were very loud and rocking out. The crowd was loud between songs and stuff but nobody gets into it during the songs. I did see more heads banging during Ivory though!!

my friends were driving by the Whiskey at around six and we saw Ray outside having a cigarette. I yelled out the window from across the street and gave him the metal sign. He gave me a nod which was very cool. we parked a block down I ran back to try and meet him but he was gone. Oh well.

-Why is it everytime you buy something from Guitar Center, you feel like you are getting ripped off? How much commission do those guys make? I need to be someone like Portnoy so I can have those guys kiss my ass.

It's entirely possible that neither the band nor the label has anything to do with it, and it's all in the hands of ASCAP or BMI (whichever DT is with). While investigating what we need to do to bitcast here at WCWM, I found out that we need separate bitcasting licenses from those two groups, and little else. They must make more money than anyone in the whole deal. -d

I've taken him to outdoor rock concerts before, but I don't know anything about the Bronco Bowl (relatively recent transplant to Texas). Is this a club? Is it the sort of place suitable for a five year old to be in?

Several things to note here...only the first note is about Prism, so don't delete me just yet. :)

    1. Yes, I'll post an interim update shortly with the new opening-orders policy, that should clarify things.

    2. About Rush "Mirrors". This boot has two printings that are known to exist and didn't come out until a few years after the Bones tour (until after the CP tour even, I think). It is the same show as Rush N Roulette '92 but it is clearly taken from a better master, something I don't think anyone expected. The show break is in a different place, and there are sound flaws on RNR92 that are not present on Mirrors. Mirrors is the boot of choice from the Bones tour... and if you're on a low budget, the single disc "Run Faster from the Fans" that Ryan Whitaker is offering is well worth having, as it's an abbreviated show with comparably excellent sound quality. So it's anyone's choice. Other than the Prism releases, there are only a few "awesome" Rush boots to get... the abovementioned two, Animated, St. Louis 1980*, A Right to Passage, Live from Electric Ladyland, The Three Magicians (this one's good because of content, not sound quality), Signals From London (again, content), and Wonders Of the World (Moose records). Of the St. Louis 1980 shows there are many pressings. The very best is the CDR Moose pressing "Taurus Pedals From Hell", and the best silvers pressing is "La Villa Strangiato" Seagull version, and the Flood first-pressing of same.

    3. I have some extras of some original boot silvers to trade. Rather than get money for them what I really need to do is trade them for the few silvers I still need. I finally got original gapless masters for all my Rush boots, and now it's time to take care of things on the Dream Theater side.

Here are the ones I have to trade: Rush - Mirrors (2 disc) Rush - Signals From London (2 disc) Rush - Cygnus (1 disc) - out of print! Dream Theater - Scenes From a Memory (1 disc) - o.o.p! Dream Theater - Acoustic Dreams (1 disc) - o.o.p!

The ones I need originals of are The Dance of Eternity (2 disc Why Not? version with ACOS), A Kick Into a Dream, Lost in the Sky, Mind Control, and Uncovered. I already have originals of CIA '97, IM2, and so on and so forth.

    4. Anyone who's interested in Star Trek collectibles, I have an auction going on at www.ebay.com in dolls/figures:actionfigures:general of a number of figs that had so nicely adorned my closet for years.

    5. I think it's just awesome that Mike Portnoy wanted the band to play an instrumental show in Nottingham! That might have been one of the best shows ever (just for novelty value)!! I wish they had been able to play it and I had been there DAT in hand. Even if I never made a CD out of it, a tape like that would be a priceless keepsake. I just CAN NOT WAIT until Mike & co. come to town on May 20th... excitement is hitting a fever pitch among me and the guys. I'll be buying a ton of tickets to make sure the band gets a good showing. Everyone I even remotely know is going to go to this concert.

That's all for now. Take care everyone!

Everyone happens to have their favorites. I happen to hold Dream Theater as my favorite band (duh...why else would I have subscribed to the 'Jam??)

I have been trying to get information about the Gig at the Vic Theater in Chicago on May 13th. I have called the Box office at the Vic, and they do not list any information about DT. I also called Ticketmaster, and they do not have a date for DT in Chicago.

I had thought that these organizations would have updated their records by now, considering that DT is going to gig there on the 13th of May (a month from now).

Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Thanks, and keep Jammin!
