    Hey all,
Before any rumours or incorrect speculation begins among our UK fans (and we
have been pleasantly surprised to see that there actually are some!!!!),
the reason tonight's show at Rock City in Nottingham has been cancelled is
because James woke up this morning unable to speak.
The doctor who saw him today said that he has gotten larengitis and can't do
    tonight's show..

Now as if that wasn't a big enough bummer for our fans here who have waited 5
years for us to come back...the thing that has me REALLY bummed is that I
spent all morning arguing with the promotor & the venue to let us do an
instumental show without James. (Instrumental DT / Rudess Morgenstein / LTE /
    Platypus)

I tried to convince him that I'm sure the fans would prefer to see that as
opposed to nothing (or maybe even more than DT!!) and to offer refunds to
those not interested.....but they refused to let us play!!!
(and you UK jammers wonder why we don't tour this country!)

Well, I just wanted to go on the record saying that I'm JUST as disappointed
as any of you that were planning on coming to the show tonight....
I'm writing this post from the hotel literally across the street from the club
and there's nothing I can do about it..... : (

We will leave tonight for France and hopefully James will be rested enough for
our last 2 shows on Thursday & Friday.....

As for you UK fans, we will be back to play the Forum in London on June
    25th.....

    Once again,
    I'm sorry....
    Mike Portnoy

PS - Please post this anywhere else that some of the UK fans might see it...

    Hey D-Man

You should be aware that there is this boot called "Mirrors/Russian
Roulette" out there from the RTB tour, it's relly great, much better
sound than critical mass, only drawback is geddy's voice was a bit off.
Also try Ryan's remix of the Run From The Fans show for a great RTB
show. Granted there are many horrible RTB boots out there, but there are
    also some very good/great ones.

    APRIL 15 @ 6:30 PM PT - Chick Corea & Gary Burton
** Early Show: Chick Corea & Gary Burton/Late Show: Pat Metheny
On April 15, the free jazz innovation of pianist Chick Corea and
vibraphonist Gary Burton mingle with the free guitar wizardry of
the Pat Metheny Group in an eclectic, adventuresome, jazz-flavored
    event on http://LiveConcerts.com.

Just thought I'd let all who expressed interest in Chick Corea during
the recent jazz thread know about this event.

I caught Billy a bunch of years back (early 80's) when he had his own
group. Imagine a guy with biceps the size of the local shopping mall,
playing drums :) Just a tireless set of chops!

Check out some of Chick Corea's stuff, if you're into fusion. Billy's
featured on his stuff and some of Return To Forever.

I totally misread this. I thought Chris had replied to a Mike Portnoy

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME WRITING AGAIN SINCE I GRADUATED COLLEGE. I HAVE RECEIVED THE LAST 7 OR 8 EDITIONS, AND HAD JUST ONE THING TO SAY. CAN WE DROP THE WHOLE THING ABOUT MIKE BAHR? EVERY SINGLE THING THAT I HAVE READ LATELY HAS BEEN COMPLETELY ABOUT MR. BAHR, WITH VERY LITTLE DISCUSSION ABOUT DREAM THEATER OR OTHER BANDS. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A DIGEST FOR DT JAMMERS. BY THE WAY, I DID SEE WHERE SOMEONE WROTE ABOUT JAXX OVER IN VIRGINIA. I JUST MOVED BACK TO INDIANA FROM PENNSYLVANIA. WHILE IN PA, I SAW FATES WARNING AT JAXX. I WAS UNABLE TO SEE DT THERE IN JANUARY, BUT I HEAR THEY HAD THE SAME LINEUP AS FATES. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT ONE OF THE BANDS THAT WAS WITH THEM, DIVINE REGAL? I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THEM, BUT THOUGHT THEY WERE INCREDIBLE. THEY WERE SOLD OUT OF THEIR CD THAT NIGHT, AND I CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE, OR ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THEM.

Hi, I am the guitarist of a new progressive band out of Boston MA. We are called Meta Section. We have gotten quite a positive response from many Dream Theater fans. Check it out. Our music has been described as a mix between "DT" and "The Gathering". Go to our web site at http://members.xoom.com/METASECTION/meta.htm We are still in the recording process and we would love to get feedback on the music. Also, if you are a progressive musician in the area of Boston and are interested in getting involved, we need live musicians for live shows. contact us. Thanks

Iīve been watching MTV for a while these days trying to catch the Hollowed Years video, but I havenīt seen it. This morning, tired of watching Smash Mouth, Cranberries, and all that kind of crap, I came up with a not-so-original (letīs call it obvious) idea. Why donīt we all in the jam (and I mean ALL OF US) e-mail to eMpTyV and request the video? It wonīt take more than 10 minutes to do it, and it would surely be of a lot of help. So donīt be lazy and start e-mailing right now.

Letīs help DT out! Letīs give them the airplay that REAL MUSICIANS need!!!

Jon Oliva is definitely not the weak link in Savatage. Sure if you like Zack better, then John's vocal tracks may not be that pleasing, but Jon basically writes all of Savatage's songs, with barely any help from any other member of the band. Paul O'neil does cowrite and produces.

I never even heard of "Mirrors". The only two good ones that I knew of were "Over The Europe", an audience bootleg that was pretty clean except for the annoying clapping in the begining, and "Rush 'n Roulette 92". I remember a big argument over which was the better one. I have OTE and am very satisfied with it. "Mirrors" was never discussed, though. Did that come out later?
