Well... There are options. Ebonics comes to mind. No grammar. No rules. No
way to understand.
In a slightly music-related tone of voice i can say the following:
a) Jason Becker's "Perpective" rips
as does
b) Richie Kotzen's "Inner Galactic Fusion Experience"
not to even mention
c) Howe/Kotzen's "Tilt"
and
d) King Crimson's "Thrak" - woo hoo!
and those guys can actually play the shit outta my speakers:
e) Bozzio Levin Stevens - "Black Light Syndrome"
I don't think it's a coincidence that the initials match that well. BLS?
BLS.
Gotta get off that Coke I'm snorting. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but
I guess the dealer was way off in re-assuring that the dark liquid was
entirely the same as the white powder I'd expected.

I, on the other hand, think that everything they did from Momentary Lapse
through Pulse was the best music Floyd ever made.

> of Reason, and The Division Bell (probably the best post-Waters album) are

I didn't say that I liked Final Cut. I said everything from 1987 to the
present was their best. That was the year Momentary Lapse was released.
I think Final Cut royally sucked. As for the Pre-Final Cut material. I
liked the Wall, DSOTM, and WYWH. I hated Animals. I kinda liked Meddle
and Piper. But, like I said before, Pulse, Division Bell, and Momentary
are my definite favorites.
> Even David Gilmour has said that Wish you Were Here was his
> favorite album, along with Richard Wright.
They do indeed like Wish You Were Here. I do also, but I think Division
Bell is MUCH better than anything they did in the 70s. I also know that
Wright didn't care too much for the Wall as a whole. That Roger Waters
asshole took over the band and kicked Wright out after the Wall tour.
> Floyd got lucky with the DSOTM?
I think it was partly luck. Dark Side was the best thing that the Waters
era Floyd ever put out. The production was brilliant, and the music was
EXTREEMELY well written, but they never could put out anything that
quality again. Wish You Were Here didn't even come close, Animals sucked,
and Wall came close, but still didn't recapture the brilliance, so yes, I
do believe that it was partly luck. The Waters Floyd never again did
anything that good. The Gilmour Floyd, however, put out two studio
albums, each of which were easily as good as Dark Side. The latest one,
Division Bell, puts Dark Side to shame. What's more, just listen to the
rendition of Dark Side that's on Pulse, and you may never want to listen
to the original again. The newer version is just more well performed in
my opinion.

I walked into a Sam Goody not too long ago, and I picked up a CD that
caught my eye, with monochrome pictures of women hugging eachother, it
was titled (and I'm absolutely serious):
"Music for Lesbians"
I was sooooo tempted to buy that disc for its comedic value alone, but

I think that the guy who made the pre-1987 comment was definitely on
something. I will be honest with everyone, I got into Floyd when Division
Bell came out (saw the concert...) But I have picked up a ton of their
stuff and have loved it too, finding the farther you go back the better it
gets (well, that is to a point...) But see my PF/Genesis post to see the
stuff I like...

Okay, here is what I have to say on the subject...
Pink Floyd Ya Gotta Have List: (in no particular order)
The Wall
Dark Side of the Moon
Animals
Wish You Were Here
Pulse
The Division Bell
A Momentary Laps of Reason
Pink Floyd Stuff I Have Been Told "Ya Gotta Have" List (in no particular order)
Saucerful of Secrets
Meddle
Genesis Ya Gotta Have List (in chronological order)
Trespass
Nursery Cryme
Foxtrot
Genesis Live
Selling England By The Pound
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
All the Genesis stuff is from the Peter Gabriel Era. I have not heard Wind
& Wuthering, Trick Of The Tail, or Seconds Out, all of which people say are
good, but I am kinda leery of siiince I kinda think Peter Gabriel made that
band... Then again I could be wrong, and I would love to get more good
Genesis, seeing as I have really grown to love them. (Well, the Peter
Gabriel stuff anyway...)

Hi all
a good concert experience last night. The British folk/metal (for want of a better description) band Skyclad are currently doing what the call their 'Irish Pub tour' here in Germany. The whole thing is basically a sort of unplugged musical piss-up. I was surprised about how good the songs sounded without the metal elements, very refreshing. The highlights for me were Martin's unique vocals and George's violin playing - how can she head-bang to acoustic music and bounce around the stage like Tigger on speed? Any Kraut jammers who are around Heidelberg (20.4.98), Karlsruhe (22.04.98) or Aachen (23.4.98) should go and check them out.
Why did I post this here? Because I first heard about Skyclad here on the list and I know there are some other fans out there in cyberland.

Well, I got Empty Tremor-Apocolokyntosys and IMHO, though not _quite_ as good as some have said (hi Arash), they are quite good and seriously influenced by OOOFB, especially the drummer, who thanks MP & DT in the notes, btw. The title track is an instrumental in the same spirit as Ytsejam. Maybe they should have called it Sysotnykolocopa.
If anyone is looking for the "lost" album between I&W and Awake I would suggest Arkhe's s/t cd. The singer sounds more like JLB than anyone I've ever heard. KevMo, MP and DT are thanked.
I think it's cool how many other drummers thank MP.

Yeah, Wake was released in the US. I was up in Rochester last week and Stumbled upon a copy in the new release section of a 'hole-in-the- wall' shop. Needless to say I'm happy as hell because I had every intention of paying the import price from CD-NOW since I just could not get any of the shit CD shops in Raleigh, NC to orders. (If I hear the phrase "I'm sorry sir we don't order imports" one more time I'll go postal!) I must say to the people that raved about this album that I finally know what you were talking about...it's fucking incredible.
I was just curious, the import version has 16 songs on it? The American version does.

Hello 'Jammers, I've been away from the computer for the last 4 weeks so I have alot of catching up to do but first I would like to get something off my chest. I've never seen DT live before but the perfect opportunity arose on April 14th at Rock City in Nottingham, UK. I was home from University and so were all my college friends and we ALL had tickets/travel plans etc and guess what happened? The gig was CANCELLED on the actual day!!! We were all near suicidal at this news, and it took a long time for it to settle in. I still can't believe it even now, and I've just read Graham Borland's comments from the Glasgow gig and all I can say is that DT, or Rock City, has robbed DT fans of an experience they will never forget, or in this case, and experience they will never even witness!
Anyone sympathesise with me? What happened to Adrian and the others who were going to all four UK dates? Surely I'm not the only 'Jammer who is gutted by this let-down? At least STORMWATCH (My local band, and good friends) gave me FIVE amazing gigs in four weeks. Yours still-annoyingly, Chris Parnham
