I remember reading somewhere in the liner notes that Jordan's assitant's
name was Chris. Maybe he's the one they are refering to. Who's gonna see
Mr. Portnoy the next at concert?

I don't know anything about their DAT players, or their Discmans, or their
TV's, but I do know this: Avoid Sony Car CD Players like the fucking
plague! This thing actually sounds really good, but it skips like there's
no tomorrow. It's absolutely ridiculous how much this thing skips. I
thought it might be my shocks, but I know someone who used to have a
Kenwood that never skipped, which was stolen. He got a good deal on what
I have now, so he put that in and it skips just as badly as mine.
Just imagine listening to LITS right after the
keyboard intro when you the song is gonna ROCK and then hitting a very
small bump in the road that makes the player spit the CD out. I almost
detached the face and threw it out the goddamned window, but then my CD
would have been stuck in there. Anyways I'm stuck with it because I can't
budget a new player now. In brief: avoid.

How bout compressing all your posts into one? Five posts in a row about (I
wont say nothing) very little is kinda silly.

Anyway, I saw Savatage's Wake Of Magellan in my local independant store's
new section for $14, so I figure it is not the import. Did it get released
in the US a long time ago or did I just not hear about it? I didnt get it
because I had just found Becker's Perspectives, and opted to go with that
instead. Its a great album, glad I went with it. Maybe sometime Ill get
back to the shop to pick up the Savatage disc.

As far as Jason Becker goes, Im looking forward to getting his earlier
stuff when his playing was uninhibited. That is going to be awesome stuff.

Well, I broke my hand playing basketball pretty bad, and it didnt hurt all
that bad, except for at first. At first it was pretty unbearable, but I
thought I had just sprained the shit out of my wrist. So I iced it for the
next day and a half, and when my friend saw it after a day and a half and
said that my hand was the most swollen lump of meat she had ever seen (and
at this point I couldnt move my hand), she dragged me to the ER. I didnt
want to go because I had a midterm the next day. But sometimes these
things are fuzzy. I would say that if there is swelling, and it doesnt go
down in a day or two, go get it checked out.

    Later all

Well after listening to every FII demo I could, I think that a lot of them
are pretty good. I could do without Where Are You Now and Cover My Eyes,
but Speak to Me, Raise the Knife, You or Me (I can't believe I like You or
Me, but it's a great middle-length rock song, like CiaW ... and for some
reason--the chorus, mainly--I despise You Not Me) would have been great
    on the album.

Yet I've noticed this: none of the magic of the old DT can be found here.
None of the great Kev songs, nothing I'd think "my god that's a brilliant
song (e.g. LTL)." Those songs made it on the album: LitS and NM. So we
    didn't really miss out.

The album could have been better, but from listening to the demos I think I
still wouldn't have liked FII as much as WDADU, I&W, or Awake: a lot of
rock songs but not very many prog songs.

    That's my opinion.

That is too true. After Van Halen on Friday night I have no more gigs for
the rest of the year lined up (unless I see Sammy Hagar, which I won't be).
And what's the likelihood of me being up to see any? That's right, not a
    chance in hell.

At the moment I feel like a cross between James Stewart in "Rear Window"
and James Caan in "Misery". Except that I'm not perving on any murderers,
and I haven't had my ankles broken with a sledge hammer (yet).

This is my fourth post in less than a week - can I actually make it to the
top two or three of the Australian MFP list this month?

This will be my last ankle post, I promise.

Sorry to keep this thread going, but...
I have a Sony boombox w/ cd, tuner, and a single cassette deck, and its
been one of the best radios i've ever bought. Of course, the fact that i
got it from a friend for $35 didn't hurt...
I also have a discman that survived 5 years of travel, abuse, sitting in
the car in the summer, all aroung getting treated like shit, and its
    just now starting to die.
I do, however, have a Sony walkman thats given me more trouble than
anything else. Panasonic does make some good shit. I have a single
cassete deck and tuner boombox of theirs thats never given me any
trouble for the last 14 or so years.
anyways, thats my opinion on Sony.

tickets? Also, I'll be comming in from the cold north (Quebec, CA), it's
gonna be a 12 hour drive, and I'm gonna need a good, safe place to crash
for the night after the show. Are there any such motels in the area? If
so, phone numbers for reservation? How's the parking situation near the
venue? Any helped will bee greatly appreciated.

Please, if you cans, respond privatly.

    Thanks a million, take care,
    Steve Godbout

Latin Mtv announced a tv special about Van Halen on the show Hora Prima, so
I got a new tape on the VCR and was ready to start taping just before the
show started they played "hollow Years" (it seems that my little cousin was
right and they play the video regulary), I like the video but it's not the
greatest one I've ever seen, I like Take the Time better....
anyway, hora prima did a madonna special instead of the van halen but I was
happy anyways, I think the van halen special is going to be next week, how
    many videos does DT has?
I have seen all from images and words, I havent seen any from awake and I
have only hollow years from FII, are there more from FII?
    let me know

on the mother thread...my mother is into madredeus, vangelis, jarre, stuff
like seal, sting...anything in french, but she hates what I listen to...

my father had a huge LP collection and I think Im into music thanks to him,
he was into Zappa, Yes, Genesis, Queen, Beatles, Foreigner...lots of stuff
but nothing "heavy" as far as I know, he likes satriani an vai now, I taped
to him some of DT songs some years ago (from images and awake mainly) and he
liked them...now he know im a keneally fan and that Im hard into Extreme and
Z (Dweezil and Ahmet), he laughs his ass off with the Zappa brothers..he
listens a lot of jazz and a little of the older blues...he doesnt have a
"good ear" (neither do I) but he likes music a lot and know a lot of groups
and stuff (nothing of theory though) ---

Since I saw that many of you are Nuno Bettencourt fans I thought you could
be interested on the news about him...I got this from Jason Kramer's Extreme
    site...

    >March 5, 1998 - Anthony J. Resta informed me that he co-wrote a new song
with Nuno described as "an amazing cosmic cool pop song with a title that
rings like a hit before you even hear it." The new album should be completed
    by August, 1998.
    >
    >In other related news, Nuno and Anthony J will head into the studio this
month with Suze (Nuno's wife) to work on her debut album for Mushroom/Sony.
    >
    >Anthony J has been quite busy. Among other projects, his solo CD, "Demos of
Saturn," is going to be released on Warren C. and Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran)
label "Lo Fi" in the UK, distributed by BMG in May or June of 98. Nick is
talking about the possibility of making an Ed Wood sort of cheesy sci-fi
    movie to go with it.

    >Thanks to Anthony for the update.
