    >>Anyone know the ticket price for the Daytona's show on May 5th?<<

Yes, they are $20 at the tix office. Also available throught TM+fees.
The number is (410) 255-5533 for more info.

And YES, to the other post regarding this show, THE SHOW IS
CONFIRMED!!! The place seats about 600 and has some tables on the
floor in front of the stage. I've never been there but I here it's
         cool.

Also, I thought I saw a post for someone looking for a ride from VA to
the NY show at Irving Plaza. I'm going to both shows Daytona's and IP
in NYC. I live near Balt and work just north of DC (Silver Spring).
Send me an E-mail, we might be able to work something out.

perhaps a few days old, this thread, but didn't Amorphis produce their album

He used to be the hot guitar teacher in DC about 7 years ago, I don't know
what he has been up to since. I have his first CD and wasn't impressed.
My guitar teacher at the time was a student of his and I thought my
teachers songs were much better. Anyway, back then he played typcial
instrumental guitar music...i.e Vinnie Moore, Yngwe, Tony McAlpine,
    etc...

Nah, you're wrong. The phrase "kill all the white people, then we'll be
free" IS from Bloody Kisses. I mean, look at the track listing and you'll
see a song called "Kill all the white people"...

A piezo IS a pickup. Just not the same type of pickup that you usually
associate with eletric guitars. Piezos are still the standard type of pickup
placed in eletric/acoustic guitars such as Ovation, Takamine, Fender and
Ibanez. Some companies are looking for better technology because the piezo
pickup has a very characteristic sound and adds coloration to the original
sound of the guitar (basically it gives you practically the same sound
characteristics regardless of the guitar that's attached to the pickup). it
sits right under your bridge, so the sound it picks up is also rather trebly.

A piezo pickup, much more so than a regular eletric guitar pickup (with
those big magnets), depends on the strings output. The more resonant the
body is, the better will be the sound and the "accoustic effect".

There are also basses designed with piezo pickups, especially solidbody or
semi-chambered basses that are built to give a more "acoustic bass" sound.

    I hope that helps.

    Christian.

    Phil pondered:

"Did I pick the wrong disc to start with? Are "Beware of Darkness" and "The
Kindness of Strangers" better sounding discs? "

Speaking for me, I started with BoD which was given to me as a gift (thanks
Lisa!) and at a suggestion jumped straight to the 3rd track "the Doorway"
Then soon after it's release I got KoS and I was just slayed. I finally
got "the Light" last. Now I just need to get the Official Live Bootleg!
IMO each CD gets better and better. These guys are so brilliantly talented
and it was confirmed to me how much talent they have been blessed with when
I saw them recently at The Roxy in L.A. My suggestion? Try Beware of
Darkness! It's what got me hooked!

Just my 2 cents worth....back to the Shadows I go!

It's from Bloody Kisses alright. One version of it has "Kill All The White
People" and "We Hate Everyone", another has "Suspended In Dusk" instead of
    those two.

It's possible that you started with the wrong disc. It's also possible
that you just don't like Spock's Beard. Nothing wrong with that. I happen
to *love* Neal's voice, but if it's a big problem for you, then you just
might not like the other cds either. Personally, The Light is my least
favorite of the three, and believe it or not, I have heard others with
complaints similar to yours. But if you can get over Neal's voice, you
really might want to check out BoD, or TKoS... I'd recommend either of
those before I would recommend The Light. BoD was produced in part by
Kevin Gilbert before his untimely death... his input had a large impact
on the resulting sound of that album. IMO, TKoS could very well be
Spock's Beard's greatest work yet... it's been consistently receiving
high marks from various prog magazines, and I haven't heard one descending
opinion on it yet. I think it might be worth it for you to give either of
them a shot... I'm sure you could get rid of the cds easily enough if you
find they are still not to your liking.

Interesting. Maybe you just shouldn't listen to me at all...
I just *loved* Flow instantly. It's my favorite of the four,
and it didn't leave my cd player for about 2 months. I imagine
my friends are wide-eyed and open-mouthed right now... yes, I
actually stopped listening to Spock's Beard for a time :op

Back to your regularly scheduled love fest...

Hmm, we could do this at our house. We could cook food out on the grill,
watch cool music videos on the giant TV, and terrorize the cats with all
sorts of odd music (actually, they're probably pretty used to odd music by
now). We live near the airport. Anyone interested?

Peruvian Skies demo is exactly the same as the FII version. At least at
the Fix for 96 shows, the song was exactly the same with no changes.
Granted, a demo of NM, Ana lee and TOT would be nice to hear, but if they
are the same as the final versions, I'll pass.

PINK FLOYD albums. OK, here's what I can say. Sorry, this pink floyd subject is a bit touchy for me, since the girl I just broke up with 2 days ago is a Pink Floyd fan, partly from my doing. You are missing a few albums. I would second or third the Animals recommendation, but you also need to get Momentary Laps of Reason and Delicate Sound of Thunder, which is a live album from the Momentary Lapse era. As for the pre-Dark side stuff, I can't say.

What is the difference trackwise between the cassete disc and video of pulse. Can you name the extra tracks on each.

Kill all the white people, then we'll be free....

    >Methinks this is from Type O's Bloody Kisses..............

Not from Bloody Kisses, AFAIK, maybe from their early stuff. I have "Slow, Deep and Hard" and that's the sort of thing they might say there. Bloody Kisses is pretty much in their post-"angry white guy from New York" phase.

Whoever said that "Kill all the white people then we'll be free" is from the Type O album that goes by the name of Bloody Kisses is absolutely correct. The song that it's (look....I used an apostrophe correctly!!!) from is called "Kill All The White People". Bloody Kisses also gave us the angst ridden gem "We Hate Everyone". Sorry for wasting the time of everyone who doesn't give a shit. chris

All right. Let me end this once and for all. From the textbook _Warriner's English Grammar and Composition_ PLURALS: Use an apostrophe s to form the plural of letters, numbers, and signs, and of words referred to as words. EXAMPLES: Your o's look like a's. There are three 5's in the telephone number. One sign of poor writing is too many and's.

    So, there.

Grammarsnob, and his textbook have spoken.

You see, THIS is what happens when you marry an English teacher. Imagine what would happen if you married a Russian teacher? :)

CD of the Day: King Diamond - Voodoo

Which Kevin is nice enough to set me up for a plug with. Any of you DC area types that are going to the KD show at Jaxx on the 14th PLEASE help a fellow 'jammer out and buy tickets from me... $20. Cheap. :)
