    Could you please tell me the reason why the question mark shouldn't be there (I'm serious here)?

    Also, what is the problem with "a sentence fragment" if it was intentional (of course, I had to put a short statement there or it wouldn't fit in one line together with the "Undergraduate..." piece) and is documented by grammars and style books (usually to avoid alliteration) as being a valid construction? It's called "ellipsis", BTW.

    Well I wouldn't say FNM is noise metal. They did that type of stuff in King for a Day. They are not just jumping on the bandwagon, they did it before Korn or anyone came out. FNM was one of the few bands that did whatever the hell they wanted. No one in the world sounded like them, no one. You can't say that about many bands.

    Face it, old metal is gone. No music ever stays the same. Does any music of today sound anything like music from the 40's or 50's? I don't think so. What Coal Chamber and band like that are doing is really not much different that what Pantera, Sepultura, etc. have done in the past. It's just that these new bands have no talent so they must scream to evoke passion from their fans. We can blame all these new bands on Pantera's last album. They set the stage for metal today.

    About the only thing wrong with the guy's offer of the FII demos on a CDR for $15 is that the band has clearly, specifically, and repeatedly requested that those demos not circulate as they are all earmarked for eventual release through official channels (B-sides from singles and so forth). I'd have released them the day after FII came out if it weren't for the band's request. If you want to just trade tapes of them, go nuts... but if you're trading digital copies, please be aware that what you're doing is comparable to trading copies of Awake or Images and that's not bootlegging... that's counterfeiting/piracy.

    In sadder news, my grandfather on my mother's side died on the morning of April 24th. Please keep our family in your prayers.

    recent (and not-so-) threads: I can't argue with Roth-era Van Halen being mostly party songs, but let's look at Hagar era. Dreams, Love Walks In, "5150", Mine All Mine, Judgement Day, In N' Out, The Dream is Over, Right Now, The Seventh Seal, Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do), Feelin', Humans Being. Furthermore, "One I Want" can be thought of as "Big Fat Money" part II.

    A friend of mine (I actually have two or three) once bought Malmsteen's _Seventh Sign_; the disc had flamenco-style guitar on it. I had never heard of anything like that before or since until I read it now.

    The FII demo's are already circulated world wide via the internet.. MP reads the jam and I am sure he knows which sites have the FII demo's. To the best of my knowledge Mike has not asked these sites to remove the songs or asked us not to d/l them ?

    Coming from you this is the height of hypocrisy.. Please tell me why trading a CDR of FII demos is counterfeiting/piracy ? You making a digital copy of an officailly released Rush video and selling it for $20/$40 isn't ?

    Weren't you also copying and selling Sony Playstation games at one time, again this counterfeiting/piracy, is it not ?

    While I don't know the exact letter of the law in he USA or AZ, isn't your whole business counterfeiting/piracy ? That's what bootlegging is, isn't it ?

Training would begin in Australia, analysing choice quotes from graham, with a 'true or false' competition on which bits he really means, and how a smiley gives the game away and spoils the fun. When recruits succeed in putting their tongues in their cheeks, they may continue...

    Then to Arizona to drive in Vince's van and tune in to Eckie, who is far too amusing for a boy of his age, and to offer a group prayer for DT to tour Arizona. We also learn the meaning of 'hootananny' and learn the latest on the Kevin Moore testicular cancer theories.

    Stopping by Jon Parmet to acquire some sorely needed wisdom, good taste and good argument skills, it's on to the UK, where we 'feel the pain' of Dave, a UK Jammer, who had to wait 2 weeks longer than the Americans for his copy of FII

    We then come to a hallowed spot where Al and Pat stand, with angels playing harps in the background to mark the most momentous peace process of the decade. Everyone participates in a group hug, and says 'I love you man' with real feeling.

    Next, to Chicago to meet Mr Chris Ptacek. This snarling, dangerous creature must be approached with caution.     I've read countless posts on grammar and the lack thereof over the last few days. I'm sure many of you have found it to be very stimulating, whereas others may find it just as exciting as reading about music theory. For this, I apologise.

    A recap for anyone who is wondering what the hell I'm raving on about:

    Some time ago, I was commenting on Opeth and said, "Opeth are" instead of "Opeth is". Everything just snowballed from there, unfortunately, with many casualties and stuff and general unhappiness. Sorry.

    Of course, if no one had commented on my faux pas, then I wouldn't be writing about this now. So, in a way, I'm not actually responsible for what is going on. Maybe I shouldn't apologise at all. So I won't.
