Hi!

Ok, as there were some questions appearing...

I have sent 30 CD's to Paul last Friday and I will send around the
same amount of CD's to Pam tomorrow. It will take 11 days for the
parcels to be delivered to the States so I guess the people who
ordered their signed CD's from Pam or Paul will get them in the
first week of September if everything goes right.

I have also just sent away the latest Superior Newsletter (no. 11)
where the release dates are listed. If somebody is interested to
get this email newsletter I release every 2 months or so, just email
me at younique@gmx.net
The latest issue will soon appear on our site at http://www.fine.de/superior
also.

So far we got some very good reviews in the German magazines
for Younique. Let's hope it will stay like that. :)

What we are looking for is basically this. Just a video on quick

Well it's espicially for my friend cuz he is much better then

I got Kindness of Strangers a few days ago and I have to say that this is my best purchase since LTE. The thing which separates these guys from most other prog bands is that they're geared more towards writing songs than stunning us with their technical ablility. I downloaded Flow from some site and within 5 minutes I was hooked. Neal's vocals are a lot easier on the ear than the likes of Mike Baker, Trent Gardner and a lot of the other prog heads (actually there is a little Brian Adams in there).

I love the bassist's tone and style (God I don't know his name); very Chris Squire at times (not just the tone but the off beat notes and runs). Overall, I find SB a refreshing change from the highly polished speed-lick laden mad-ass compositions that I'm used to hearing. Fair balls to them.

It's all a matter of priorities. Some people like the way those guitars sound and are willing to pay that much for 'em. Some like the collectability. Some like the fact that they have the Chet Atkins name on them. Some just have more money than they do good sense. :)

I have to admit I wouldn't pay $40K for a guitar of any kind; then again, some people would have trouble understand my willingness to pay $165K for a copy of _Detective Comics_ #27 (first appearance of Batman) -- that is, if I had it! It all depends on what's important to ya.

I can't seem to find the exact site, but go to the ultimate band list (www.ubl.com) and look up ELP. And don't forget to look up DT while you're there . . get them back in the top 100. Oh, the deep purple reviews can be found at www.deep-purple.com. I've been interested in seeing what the various people had to say about DT. And I'd have to say that overall, the reviews have been great. Hope the cd's are flying out of the stores (hopefully paid for too :-). That is all . . .

I read here quite often where some people said that some of the DT tunes on FII sounded Pink Floydish, and others balked and the idea, and on, and on, and on.

Well, I read an interview with JM in a Bass Player magazine, and he said that for Peruvian Skies, Kevin Shirley made him sit down and listen to "Hey You", from none other than Pink Floyd. Interesting. That's probably one of my fave bass lines on the CD...that and the beginning of TOT... So simple, but so much power.

I recently baught Rabert Fripp's "League of Crafty Guitarists", and I was surprised to find that it sucked ass. Seriously. I don't need a vacuum cleaner, cuz' there's so much suckage going on in that corner of the room. After hearing everyone talk about how much of a guitar god Fripp is, I'm convinced that what i have is like a fluke of nature...kinda like Alice Cooper's Freakout Song album. This album has like four hundred tracks. Most tracks are short pieces written to a quick tempo, with some kind of interesting guitar work, but they are so similar to one another, it gets really old after about the third such track. They sound kinda like arcade game music circa 1987. Seriously, I've got potential musical scores for every game every MADE by Nintendo here. To make matters worse, some moronic bitch punctuates every fifth or so track with her acapella banshee wailing. So we got 40 tracks of ultra cheez guitar/synth wankery, eight tracks of Olga the mountain dyke singing her festive rendition of "Goat sodomy in D minor"...the only thing we need now is Yablo and his magical Ocharina, AND WE'VE GOT A HANDS DOWN WINNER FOR THE COVETED TITLE "GAYEST FUCKING PEICE OF SHIT CD IN LOOOEEE'S CD COLLECTION". Seriously, avoid this album like the plague.

On the other hand, I realize that even good musicians have brainfarts. I'm willing to give ol' frippy boy a second shot. Is there any album that any jammer can recommend for me? I've got an pretty open mind for music, but there are SOME limits, dude. Ol' robby-boy has onne final chance of redemption before his disc gets used as a beer saucer.

Damn! You are old! I almost forgot about that festival! For some reason, I didn't mind that DLR was forgetting words. I just remember being very cold by the time VH came out. Who else performed at that festival? Lot's of people mentioned on the jam. Terry Bozzio (Missing Persons), Quiet Riot (no RR), Ozzy (no RR, I think it was Brad Gillis on guitar, right after RR died).

Of course it was U2 that stole the entire festival...

Try Larks Tongues In Aspic or Red by King Crimson (Fripp's other band ^_^) Both impressed me a lot. Red is my fav of the two, even though I bought LTiA first. Fripp burns it up -- really heavy, unspeakably so in the context of 1973/74. Really cool stuff, and Bill Bruford on drums to boot!

I'm wondering, other than X-Japan, what other good J-Rock (Japanese Rock) bands are there? I picked up Luna Sea's single I For You, and while I wasn't disappointed, it was very modern rock for my tastes (though selling out is the norm rather than the exception with J-Rock groups). Any particular group or era I should look into? I like Luna Sea circa Rosier, X-Japan circa Art of Life, and there was a B'z song circa 1994 on the tape my friend gave me (to which I have since lost the j-card, so I don't know the name).

Heck, even J-Rock inspired pop would do! I'm in a bit of withdrawl, and with two Japanese import stores within blocks from my house (^_^), I gotta have a list ($10 for a CD-3 single and $25 for a full album is too much to risk blindly).

Take a wild guess. If Mike says it'll only be the Paris show, and the acoustic show wasn't in Paris, then your show won't be included. You answered your own question. I guess you just needed to have us point out your own good observations for you.

which album? i know they've released a few of them.

I think you made a wrong 1st choice into Fripp's other works. I'd start out with his King Crimson work and go from there. Many of his side/solo projects (Soundscapes, The League Of Gentlemen, The League Of Crafty Guitarists, The Robert Fripp String Quintet, etc) are not for everyone. Be sure you know what you're getting yourself into with Fripp.

As for "what King Crimson album should i get," here are a few recommendations:

In The Court Of The Crimson King (1969)

This, their first album, is one of the best ones. This album features Greg Lake on bass/vocals, and a whole slew of performers. Check out "21st Century Schzoid Man" and you'll realize what all the fuss is about.

Red (1974) The last album before the (1st) breakup of Crimson, this features Bill Bruford (drums), John Wetton (bass/vox) and Fripp. This, the heaviest KC album, is purely a masterpiece. Tunes to check out: Starless, Red, One More Red Nightmare.

Discipline (1981)

The first album with the 80's lineup: Fripp, Bruford, Tony Levin (bass, stick), and Adrian Belew (vocals, guitar). This, along with ITCotCK, is their best work. HIGHLY reccomended.

Thrak (1995)

This album features the double trio: 2 bassists (Trey Gunn and Levin), 2 guitarists (Fripp & Belew) and 2 drummers (Bruford and Male...shit...the guy who was in Mr. Mister). Anywayz, this is definately an interesting album to check out - although you don't get the full effect of it unless you're wearing headphones.

The Night Watch / Absent Lovers

both double live discs, these albums perfectly show KG at their heights. TNW is a show from the "Starless And Bible Black" tour, and has (with Bruford, Wetton, and Fripp) David Cross on violin and mellotron. AL is the last show from the 80's lineup - and puts together a hell of a show.
