I draw a conclusion they'd do much better swapping with DT to open the set.
Palmer's drum solo was good though absolutely the same as the night before.

    Hey there all...
I was thinking about this.. and I found the perfect person. She's
my 2nd Cousin on my mother's side of the family (of course I don't know her
and neither does my mom, but she's a blood relative) Fiona Apple.
Can you picture this? Fiona.. in her underwear singing back up on Hollow
years? Nah, neither can I.. but it's funny to think about : )

Also, I was really surprised when I saw this. Doug Pinnick is black.. I
had NO idea that he was. His vocals sound really white, not that I can always
distinguish between them.. but I was really surprised. I mean for instance
when you hear Darrius Rucker from (ug) Hootie and the Blowfish, you know that
he's black.. you can tell in his voice. Of course, one of the exceptions is
Stevie Ray Vaughn.. You couldn't tell with his voice because he sounded like
he's a black blues player. Just something to think about. I was really
surprised when I was on the Kings X site. I pictured him looking sorta like
    James.

    I'll be quick:

I picked up Yanni's 'Tribute' today - loved it - can anyone recommend any other of his albums to check out? 'Live At The Acropolis' looks interesting (and enticing since I can get it for a relatively cheap price).

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. (Private reply preferred)

The last thing I want to do is inspire some Ytse-Retard to start flaming DP or DP's fans on the Highway Star. And for what, the opinion of a drug saturated geriatric rocker? And you know someone would.

The last thing I want DP fans to remember about DT is the flames from DT fans because someone expressed an opinion. No mater how stupid it was. What I want them to remember is the DT shirts outnumbering the DP shirts. At least in Minnesota here. Oh, and how great the band was too.

Would you call this paranoia or some good foresight on my part?

Wow! I never thought I'd hear this in a million years. Everyone I've ever introduced KX to (or played LitS for) has always asked (unfortunately) "Is that a black guy singing for a metal band?" As if it makes a difference what color the performers are...although there are physical differences that tend to give "black" singers their "soul".

(ug)? (ug) is all you can say? Talk about a singer who displays a complete lack of "soul"! I personally find HatB's stuff in general to be bland - but that's opinion. My opinion, more specifically.

I'll agree with you here. SRV did *not* have a beautiful singing voice. But, he could hit notes, and he sang with such emotion that his voice took on an air or "soul". But even in speaking to him, his voice was a little different than your average white boy from Texas.

    >surprised when I was on the Kings X site. I pictured him looking >sorta like James.

It's a psychological thing, I believe. It's the same as when you talk to someone on the phone for so long, and you meet them, your mental picture of them almost never matches reality.

AL - I think what he meant was:

"We've heard a lot of very positive about OFB from Highway Star. If there are bad reviews of OFB, share those with us so we may see for what reasons some people didn't like OFB's performance. From this, we may gain some insight into OFB's shortcomings. More likely thought, we may be able to determine for ourselves the caliber and intelligence of the person making the post."

So far, I've found the positive reviews to be generally well-written. I'm curious to see if the crafty wordsmiths who write negative reviews of OFB yield such insightful messages like: "They sucked."

And I'm sure Damon would agree.

    Hi all

a bit old, this thread, but here's my favourite, which I happened to be listening to this morning:

Frank Zappa - The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life

An excellent live album, lots of fun, some great solos, and the reggae covers of Purple Haze and Stairway To Heaven are too good to be true. Watch for the cover of Ring Of Fire as well - laughter guaranteed.

I know I'm late with this - what else is new?

Some folks around here have chimed in on this already (the 'Small Soldiers' remix) and the general feeling is that the whole thing is bascially a butt-fucking of a sacred cow. You don't mess with Rush.

I'm here to tell you, this thing ROCKS. Yeah, it's too long, and I really loose interest after about the first couple of minutes and maybe it does get a little too 'out there' toward the end, but the whole hip-hop beat smokes, and I think the heavy Rage Against the Machine-ist groove rules.
