With all the arguments going on about the poll, someone forgot to mention
Pain Of Salvation. These guys are great, being a better Faith No More with
good vocal harmonies. They are worth checking out if you can find it.
Their web page is http://www.algonet.se/~gilden/ with samples....

As for 800.com, received my order on Friday with 2 of 3 DVDs that I ordered
(The Rock is on backorder... No surprise...)

As for Mike, I'm sorry to see this happen to him. He is just a guy who's
ambitions were far more than his capabilities. Running a gaming shop is
tough. I personally had no complant about him in the end. I got everything
I ordered from him. The people who came after him learned from his
mistakes. They don't have the bad stigma that Bahr got, even though they do
the same thing he did, just better service. I hope one of these days Mike
straightens himself out. This brings the Bahr saga to the end and nothing
more needs to be said about it, because the remainder of his business will
    be passed on to others....

Hey people, I just need some music suggestions:
Ive been getting into some death metal lately, and I wanted some input on
some good bands to get into. So far, I really dig:

    Cynic
    Death
    Enchantment<---these guys rule!

But I picked up Emperors newest release and I thought it was a little hard to
    listen to.

Anyways, please email me if youve got any suggestions...thanks!

*chuckles* welcome to the Ytsejam, the closest thing to legal email bombing
as one can get. :D The sad ting is that we all take it willingly. Egad,
we're lame. heheh. But because of this list I find things out like this:

KorgX3's Hella Props of the Year are officially awarded to Paul Dyer! Holy

    Peg,

forget about the www.helloween.com. It's crap. You better go to one of the unofficial webpages which are A LOT more up to date.

Try the message board of "Future World" and post your question again.

    http://www.perfectgentleman.com/YourTurn/

Or check out Tony's "Where the rain grows" page which is one of the best informed Helloween pages:

    http://www.en.com/users/tw/

    Hope this helps

For me, the coming month isn't settled yet. (Hey, I'm a musician!) Liquid Tension might tour a bit or a lot, and will appear for sure at the NAMM show in L.A. at the end of the month. King Crimson has a release event in L.A. on Jan 27th, for the new Crimson DVD. I'll be at NAMM, probably at Trace Elliot's booth, attempting to convince music retail stores that they aught to carry my book(!) (That's usually a good=

opportunity to upload photos of what's happening at the trade show - expect daily updates.)

actually, no you didn't. their last show of the U.S. tour was in san juan, puerto rico, boyee! and i had the pleasure of seeing them on their REAL last show of the U.S. tour. :) and i must say, the show rocked a whole lot of ass. it was quite packed. i think the setlist was the same as the atlanta show.

hmm. we left during Hammerfall, because we were all dead tired. i wonder if we missed that. that would suck. hey carlos, did you stay for all of it? did they do that?

Well, if you like Cynic, then you might like Echosilence, even though Echosilence doesn't have any vocals and, so, aren't death metal.

But now comes my usual recommendation: get Opeth. Ok. Let me repeat that: get Opeth. The most amazing death/black/doom/extreme band that I've ever heard, for it doesn't perform a unidimensional music, being only death or only doom metal.

If you want more information about their releases, a good starting point would be: <http://www.ime.usp.br/~rbrito/opeth/>.

If you want some heavy music, get their third (and latest) album, "My Arms, Your Hearse". If, on the other hand, you prefer softer music, get both "Morningrise" and "Orchid", which are two very similar albums (some people even say that "Morningrise" is "Orchid 2").

If you're into a more brutal side, then you might want to check out Deicide's "Serpents of the Cross", which consists of some really fast music.

Ok. Enough "Ifs". Check out the swedish bands of death metal, in case you're interested in melodic playing. Bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity among others are best described as Iron Maiden/Helloween meets death metal.

And an album you might want to check out is Edge of Sanity's "Crimson".

    > But I picked up Emperors newest release and I thought it was a little > hard to listen to.

Yes, "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk" is best described as a "wall of sound", but one thing: it's not death metal. It's black metal. It's hard to get into, but you may eventually get into it, if you allow enough time.

    Hope these recommendations help, Roger...

Yeah.. we saw the nightmare cinema thing.. they played breaking the law, with the rythim guitarrist taking over vocals, lead guitarrist on drums, vocalist on guitar, bassist on guitar and i dont remember who played bass..something like that.. anyways the whole show rocked...for a band i didnt kmnow a single song off, it was fun..and they were very tight... definately worth it..
