    Greetings ye 'jamanoids...

One more thing about Tangerine Dream, then I'll quit (for awhile, anyway)...

    Coldfire remarked:
    >BTW....some of you may realize that Tangerine Dream has been in the
    >movies.

That's a bit of an understatement -- they've appeared on the soundtracks of
at least twenty films, and have done the entire score for several including
"Firestarter," "Legend," and "Dead Solid Perfect."

    Just to clear that up...:)

    Cheers,
    Phil

Well, I can't decypher all of them, but here is the bulk of them. If anyone has
a keener ear than I, I would appreciate any help on these before I put them in
the song book. Mail them to me direct, Thanks.

The Way It Used To Be (07:48)
          - James LaBrie

        In the city once again
        I'd give anything
To be back home safe and warm inside

        I can't stand the crowds
Or the smell that surrounds me
        The ???

Take me back so I can see
The way it used to be

I lay down and learn to dream
        Unlike anywhere I've been
        All is ???

Then I'm falling to the ground
And I'm lost in what I've found
Can't stand the sounds no more

Take me back so I can see
The way it used to be
The way it used to be

        Lift me from the water
        Too cold to swim
        Bring me to the land
        Lift me from the water
        That I see within
        Bring me to the land

Radio waves splash in my head
To the rhythm that I crave
The radio waves relive the moment
        Seems like yesterday

        Take me back to ???
Then I'll sit at the edge
With my feet in the water

Take me back as the sun fades away
Break down the walls so I can breathe

        Lift me from the water
        Too cold to swim
        Bring me to the land
        Lift me from the water
        That I see within
        Bring me to the land

        Lift me from the water
        Too cold to swim
        Bring me to the land
        Lift me from the water
        That I see within
        Bring me to the land

The way it used to be
The way it used to be

        Lift me from the water
        Too cold to swim
        Bring me to the land
        Lift me from the water
        That I see within
        Bring me to the land

        Lift me from the water
        Too cold to swim
        Bring me to the land
        Lift me from the water
        That I see within

This doesn't surprise me. If I've understood correctly when asked "Do you use drugs?" the guys answer something like "well not any hard drugs anyway".( This is second hand info. Don't flame/blame me) Hmmm... What were you doing in the coffeeshop anyway? :)

    Hi all,

For the ones who talk about Tangerine Dream. If you like the real TD , please start with albums in the 70's (Electronic Meditation, Phaedra , Rubycon, Ricochet, Stratosfear, Cyclone, Force Majeure...) Alpha Centuri is different from what they have done. Try to avoid their soundtrack albums.

    Have fun, AE

That's right. If he smokes alot he'll be hatin' it. Not so much with pot, b/c you don't go around smoking 20 bowls a day (well, most people don't) like someone who smokes a pack of cigs per day, but in general smoking will quickly reduce your endurance. Range is another story. I smoke fairly heavily but my range gets wider and wider as I practice. It's interesting you take Tate as an example. He's been smoking for a little while, not his whole career, and on this most recent tour (except when he got the flu and had to start cutting shows) his voice has been better than it has been in the past 5-6 years. He hasn't tried to hit the high notes in "Take Hold" in years, but he was able to hit them and hit them well (for the most part) in the HITNF tour. Likewise with songs like "Walk in the Shadows." Now, if they could just put out a decent album... :)

well, got my Hollow Years single the other day... Lets see, first off, the radio version of HY... don't realy like what they did to save time... one of the biggest problems is that there are lyrics that don't make sense... they cut out from the middle of one of the verses right into the middle of another one... (think its "carry me to the shoreline" right into "maybe you'll understand" in a later portion of the song), it just causes some problems with the song... but I guess they figured that they needed to cut down the length... its at least better then the eMpTyV cut of TTT.

You Or Me... well, I have a slightly different opinion than others of this song... Musically, I like You OR Me better, but lyrically, I think that You NOT Me is better... there are some lines in the lyrics that don't seem to flow as well as they do in YNM... (I never really didn't like YNM that much, though).

TWIUTB is pretty cool... I need to get some more of the lyrics, but I do like the sound... has a sora U2ish sound (saying that again, I thnk the same for Speak To Me)

His vox were definitely better on I&W . . . maybe he started smoking up inbetween I&W and Awake? :) Just kidding - although I would have liked to think a band like DT were all straight-edges . . . it doesn't really bother me. I just hope James's vox don't suffer.

If M2's as "insane" as JP sez, I can't wait to hear it. Hopefully OFB will return to the studio ASAP to record that and whatever else they may want us to hear at the time.

Yeah, commercial success up the wazoo. Of course, as has been so avidly discussed here of late, commercial success doesn't equal quality in any way shape or form. Those two are still seperate, thank heaven! And the quality has been sadly lacking in Metallica since Load (of crap...to palgiarize :P).
