Well, I haven't posted in a while, but I like this kind of thread so
    here I go...

as for metal, favs would include:
Ozzy, The Scorpions, Pre-Load Metallica, Megadeth, Guns & Roses, and
    some Slayer...

as for rock stuff, definite ones are:
Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Tower of Power, Cold Blood, The Beatles,
Aerosmith, Joni Mitchell, Nine Inch Nails, Dave Matthews, Widespread
Panic, Lighthouse, Galactic, Sting, Santana, Paul Simon, and Elton John.

then, I love jazz, people such as John Coltrane, Chet Baker, Hank
Crawford, Chick Corea, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Zoot Sims, Stan
Getz, Jimmy Smith, Buddy DeFranco, Dave Weckl, Joe Pass, and tons of
    others....

And my top 5 prog groups would be Queensryche and Dream Theater tied for
top spot, followed by Fates Warning, Pink Floyd, and King Crimson

oh, and I forgot to mention Kenny G and Michael Bolton...NOT!!!!
    hehe

Of the six, only Stream of Consciousness (formerly Wasteland) is soundboard, but the rest are all audience DAT source and all sound clear and crisp. Basically it's a huge tossup. I personally would buy more than one show based on content. Marcel is known to make good material so get De Maasport. FYS is so cheap there's no reason not to get it (and good content too). (although now SOC is only $5 more, so I guess price isn't a serious difference like it once was). SOC is the soundboard one. Everyone says Static Progress is good, and if it's even close to the DAT of that show that I have, then it sounds just fine. I have not heard In Germany (yet) and so cannot comment on it. The FII tour has some actual variance of performance, so getting more than one boot plus the official live release is my recommended course of action.

I think that it's normal to say that in my favourite sport ,SOCCER,I like more than others playsoccers RONALDO ( for those that don't known him,he's a brazilian boy that in my country is called "FENOMENO" because is the best example of technic, fantasy and speed in a soccerplayer..). Here in Italy ,like in England and others European's country ,soccer is the most important sport and I said these words to see if even in America there is someone who like this sport. At last the footballs finished! At least the people in the US have a bit more choice over sports, in the UK if you don't like football (drink lager and like Oasis) people think your a bit strange. I really don't mind any sport (or music) if it is kept in proportion with everything else and not forced down my throat by every television channel (all 4 of them in my case). Last night when the final match was on TV they were showing the match on two channels and it was the same bloody shots, needless to say I turned it off. I think sport is a bit like music, you can make anything popular if you market it correctly e.g. Spice Girls, Football. Why do footballers get millions of pounds for kicking a bag of wind about when netball players get bugger all for throwing the same bag of wind about ?? A happy (for the first time for 6 weeks) UK Jammer. David C.

I have all his cds from I'm the Man to his latest Heaven & Hell as well as two soundtracks, Tucker and Mike's Murder, and I love every one. He may not be progressive in the commonly accepted sense of the word, but he definitely progresses from album to album with different styles of music from punk to swing to classical to whatever you would call his new one, which is based on the seven sins.

You guys might like it cuz one song has a lot of swear words in it. :)

His mom was a singer at a speak easy, and Dad was into tuning pianos. Korg was actually conceived on a baby grand, somewhere around C#. Interestingly enough, the vibrato effect was discovered around the same time. He was incubated in the piano stool, as Tori - an nanny at the time while she was working on her act - was able to keep the seat quite warm. Nine months later, open the stool, out pops this adorable little Casio wannabee.

I don't normally get pissed but c'mon. Sports are are something that are praised the world over 10 times more than progressive music. We all joined this list to learn more about DT and related music. and if you post about music and add sports at the end, that is cool. but I will flip if I ever see another friggin' post about soccer or the such. it doesn't belong here. Well, I dunno about THAT one...but integral of f(y) = 2x dx = x^2. The resulting parabola has a vertex aat the origin (cross of the conventional x and y axes in Cartesian notation, exists only in the first and second quadrants, and is symetrical across the vertical axis.

    Someone asked about these boots:

    >1. Marcel's 'De Maaspoort' Den Bosch >2. Nicky B's Fasten Your Seatbelts >3. Bahr's Welcome to the Wasteland >4. OAN's Static Progress >5. In Germany 4/18/97 >6. Others???

A couple of notes. "FYS" isn't a full show, but I've heard the sound quality is excellent. OAN has gotten great reviews and the setlist is one of the "new" FII sets (including TTT, etc) which I much prefer to the LITS, BMS -> Voices, etc set. I don't know about the quality or packaging of Den Bosch, but I have the tape and it's a pretty average show - nothing spectacular (good Scarred, tho'). The 4/18/97 show isn't a FII tour show, actually. It's from the "An Evening of New Music with Dream Theater" shows, and has the same setlist as most of the other shows in that mini-tour. Includes the original BMS (w/ Hell's Kitchen in the middle), JLMB, PS, etc. It's worth it just to get the reworked The Killing Hand, but I think the 4/14/97 (Caught in Amsterdam) show is better. 4/16/97, tho' not for sale AFAIK, is the first time they ever played Trial of Tears live. As far as others go, if you're just looking to buy CDs you're not going to find too much else out there as far as FII tour stuff goes. The Atlanta show (12/16/97) is good and is available to buy. I can't remember where but I think whoever was offering it was wanting b/t $40-$50 which is quite the ripoff. Philadelphia (5/9/98) is excellent and every copy I've seen is on CD, but I don't think anyone who has it is selling it (thankfully) so it's trade only. There's a CD boot of one of the recent Japan shows (I want to say 1/13/98, but not sure) that I believe he's eventually going to release for sale, but I don't know if it's reached many US folks yet. I got it from the original taper and he asked not to trade or sell (ya right) it. Good luck finding these, the FII tour is the best so far!
