Hear Hear Layne! ...not only because of the reasons you gave him, but
because in most sports, when you have people from different parts of the
world/country/state whatever.. theyll have different favorite teams and
everyone know sports is as heated topic of discussion as politics or
religion or even music (that "M" band comes to mind...)

Now, I know this may seem like adding fuel to a dead horse, but I just
don't get soulless music. Tesh and Yanni are so bombastic; like a
    musical Barbara Walters special....

Away from the bashing, here's a little praising. I've seen mention of a
number of great guitar players on this list since I joined back in 1994
(about the 500s). My band is opening for one this Tuesday at the Double
Door in Chicago. It's acid jazz and the guitarist is Charlie Hunter
with his new band Pound for Pound. Anyone with thoughts on him? He
plays an 8-string and carries both bass and rhythm lines at the same
time. Magnificent! Check him out if you like virtuoso work that has
    real soul.

So Korg X3 was talking about a problem he had, that people look up to
essentially what boils down to athletic thugs while Stephen Hawking is
fighting Lou Gehrig's disease and reinventing physics.

Here's the irony... LOU GEHRIG's disease. Named after an athlete, a
    sports guy.

I have no problem with Korg's points... people should look up to Hawking.
But then there's this rant about how skewed things are with sports. like
it or not, the Ancient Romans loved coming out to watch a good nude
sprint, or see some prisoner get mauled by a lion. Check out nearly any
tribe of people in the world, and they've got some sort of social
entertainment involving kicking or throwing a ball of some sort. It's Lou
Gehrig's disease and not Joe Scientist's Disease because Lou Gehrig is the
high profile guy, the one who stirs something inside us as humans. Yeah,
so he's playing with a ball. It seems to be human nature.

Sports on the jam? I have no idea... I'm enjoying watching you folks
argue this one out. I just thought this was pretty interesting.

interested please post a message ...

Yah, but they didn't name it "Some Dead Runner's Disease" did they? You're
beating a dead athlete. They would have named it Lou Gherig's Disease
regardless of his occupation. Technically it's called Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis, or ALS (The same disease that Jason Becker suffers from). It's
just like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease, the name is just a tag so
people can distinguish between the others without having to use the extended
    medical term.

i recently read an interview with John Myung on this very topic, and i seem to
recall him saying they wrote it and everything (don't remember if they
recorded it or not) but they had no current plans of releasing it on an ep or
    at all
