Is it possible you ended up with botched liner notes ? Mine says:

vocals/keyboards - Kevin Moore
drums - Mark Zonder
guitars - Jason Anderson
bass - Joey Vera (on 3,4,5) & Moore

This is printed on the right pane (if you only open the cover
pane leaving the inner pane still folded) next to the track listing.

I'm under the impression some of you got your cover personalized with "To
So&so, Kevin Moore". My copy, and those of people I know, only have
Kevin's signature. Oh, and my invoice says I was order #71. I wonder how
many have been sold so far, since it's only available through his web
site.

Two listens so far... too soon for a review from me.

Yes, Mark Zonder is the drummer on the CD. Steady ?? Yes. Within the
context of the music ?? Yes. Flashy ?? No. I couldn't have guessed that
it was him for the life of me. In short, he is not mentioned because the
style of the music is not conducive to him displaying any of his
considerable talent.

Name Withheld because I like Kevin, but I dont care for the CD

Random thoughts of the day:

1) Dont confuse "liking adult style music" with "being a wuss". Really.
2) Why did Matt Bahr take the "unfulfilled order ledger" off his webpage if
there were CD orders that weren't in the mail ??
3) Will I ever see my Stream CD for being remotely critical of that
Arizonian rock of stability ?? (Note another reason to hide my identity,
hehehehe)

I love Floyd's concept albums, especially Animals, The Wall, and The
Final Cut. Seeing a DT concept album would rock!

Oh, duh. My apologies. Pat Daugherty must've meant "why isn't he
mentioned" in the context of posts to the Ytsejam, not in the liner notes,
which is what I thought he meant. I'll go about my business now. :)

This is the new Superior album? What are they like (and no I don't have
the ability to listen to soundclips -- my Mac is not online this summer,
and this Intel Inside doesn't have a sound car inside, so I'm sutck for
that...)? Descriptions? Parallels to bands I may have heard of (Yes,
ELP, DT, FW, Met, Mega, Ben Folds Five, Floater, Tool???!?)

Hey all,

Here's my review of Chroma Key's "Dead Air for Radios." (In case
anyone doesn't know, Chroma Key is Kevin Moore's solo project, and
also features Mark Zonder, Jason Anderson, and Joey Vera.) I think
that Brian Hansen did a great job in his review a few digests ago, so
I'll keep mine fairly brief.

I got the CD yesterday and I fell in love with it instantly. I've
only heard it a couple of times, but it already hits near the top of
my list of best albums of 1998. I don't really know what other
albums to compare it to, as far as style. It is very dark and
mellow, and is more atmospheric than melodic. I see some
similarities to Roger Waters, Nine Inch Nails, Duran Duran, and
Radiohead. However, if you have heard Kevin Moore's "Music Meant to
Be Heard" demos, then you know exactly what style of music this is.
"Dead Air for Radios" is very similar in style to "Music Meant to Be
Heard" but is much stronger overall.

Having said all of that, here are some disclaimers:

1. This is not Dream Theater. It is not even REMOTELY similar to
Dream Theater.

2. This is not complex music. There are NO solos.

3. The album is rather short (44:09), especially by Dream Theater
standards. It is made effectively shorter by the fact that two of
the nine tracks consist mostly of spoken word and sound effects
rather than music.

In summary, I think "Dead Air for Radios" is a great album,
especially if you like "Music Meant to Be Heard." However, it
probably won't appeal to all Dream Theater fans, because it is a very
different style of music.

Oh, and by the way, the album can be ordered for $15 (U.S.) from the

But I have a couple of questions first.
Okay, in the PROG-METAL ORIGINS posts, why didn't anyone ever mention
Kansas? Now I know the "metal" part wasn't really there, but what
separates DT from pther progmetal is the art-rock aspect they
specifically say they got from Kansas. I mean they were the big
prog-rock leaders before Rush broke through. I also know there were
other proggy bands, but without the "art" feel from Kansas... DT would
have never been the same.

The album 90125 isn't really recognized because it is poppier, but
it's really a great album... big on radio, too. It's like the Yes
equivalent of Queensryche Empire. Also, most of their big '80s tracks
are on there. So even if you're into the earlier prog of Fragile and
Tales, or the newer, heavier Talk, you need to hear this album.

Hello jammers:

I recently received my order of Static Progress from Open All
Night records, and I have to say that after quite a few listens to this
boot, I am very impressed. The sound is terrific for an audience boot (
probably better than 'The Dance of Eternity' Quality wise not
content-wise) as this CD does not have any drop-outs.

The liners are nicely done on thick stock glossy paper, and each CD has
a label with majesty logo on them. Highlights include Take the
Time/Freebird medley, Scarred, Speak to Me, and Trial of Tears.

Lowlights: bonus tracks are taken from the Mind Control/Wake Up! boots,
basically filler of stuff that we've heard before.

And finally, with all of the talk aboput how fast these guys are at
shipping out orders, I was convinced that it was a bunch of BS, but three
days after I got a confirmation note that my money had been recieved, I
had the discs! These guys are totally professional, and I will definitely
be ordering any future DT releases from them. (Fan Club show please!) :)

Overall, I would have to rate the disc an A, for content and quality.
Definitely a great boot. For another good FII boot with a little
different setlist, check out Fasten Your Seatbelts on Nick Bogovich's
page. Worth the price for the Fasten your Seatbelts version of Ytsejam.
