Hi all,
With all this talk about Jason, I was wondering if any of had Jason solo or
Cacophony live shows? I have the following myself:
Cacophony NAMM, Los Angeles, Ca. 00-00-87 (first ever Cacophony show!)
Cacophony Tokyo, Japan 00-00-89
Cacophony San Fransisco, Ca. 05-05-89
All 70 minutes long. On the first show, they also play Eleven (B?)lue Egyptians from
Jason's solo album! Please let me know if there's more.

BTW, I agree that Nick has put a very good bootleg and the price
that he is charging for that bootleg is something unbelieveable. Only $25
for a 2CD set!
And it includes Rush's YYZ in the middle of "Metropolis", the
"Fasten Your Seatbelts" Ytsejam, "Voices", the eletric version of "Hollow
Years" and much more. It's from a very energetic show, and should be heard
by everyone. They (DT) even make some mistakes and you've got to hear that
(in the middle of PMU).
The sound quality is fair for an audience boot (hey, Nick recorded
it himself). I don't think that I could do a better job for this amount of
money.

Who is Dave Matthews Band? Are they worth checking? (I'm serious here).

Yup, me! I got into them in the 6th grade (1989). Saw them on the Revenge Tour, On the Convention tour, Ace and Peter on the Bad Boys tour, and 5 times on the reunion tour! I remember when I was 13, I thought Ace Frehley was the fastest guitar player ever! But I still love them. Sometimes ya just need a break from Prog and Shred. It clears the mind, good old rock and roll!

DMB is awesome, especially the drummer, if you have ever heard them live, outside of their first live CD, then you would rate thier drummer right upthere with mike portnoy, i sure as hell would.

Just a little point: sales are calculated on the basis of albums SOLD, not SHIPPED. Just because a lot albums are in the store means nothing, except that if someone wants to buy the album they can. Now we just have to get the rest of the world to buy it.

P.S. As far as KISS goes, love them or hate them, you cannot deny their influence on popular music, both sonically and from a business perspective. Personally, I like them, though I only own one of the MANY greatest hits albums they've put out. KISS is one of those bands that I've never really gotten into for fear that if I like them too much, I'll have to go out and buy all their albums. Cheap Trick is another example of this. My wallet just can't take it.

I picked up my copy today (3/28). I had the local record shop order one for me. The live version of Another Hand is killer, I wish I could have been at this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first time I heard Burning My Soul (complete with hell's kitchen in the middle) was on this CD and it's awesome!!!! Too bad they chopped it up on the album.
If you can't find the single try looking in Goldmine. I picked up the 4/10 issue of GM today and their must be at least 4 or 5 dealers advertising the Japanese single + the UK version.
I did get an extra copy if anyone wants to do some trading. For what its worth I also have an extra copy of the Silent Man UK cd single (still sealed) too.

Hi all, i just wanted to comment about this: I recently got Jason Beckers "Perspective", and i found it very inspirating and very cool record, with some very emotional songs in it. I read on a guitar school magazine, in the listening room section, that Petrucci said that the Becker song "End of The Begginning" was very congested musically speaking, wasnt breathing either, and that this way, the emotional content of the song could not be delivered properly. Well, upon hearing that song some times now, i have to disagree with JP. I found that song very emotional, especially with Michael Lee Firkins playing, who i think has a flawless technique, and has some damn finesse in every note he plays. Plus, every time i hear that song, i m like moved emotionally, and i get a weird feeling, i cannot describe what it is. How do you guys like this song or record?

Considering a few people on here are Yanni fans (and there are probably a ton that aren't), I thought I'd just say that whether you think he's a cream puff or what, any person who wants to see a handful of awesome musicians oughtta go check him out.
The whole show was great. It was him and his 40+ piece orchestra and has something for everyone.
Karen Briggs: Violin player. This chick's style is a combination of classical Paganini and Kentucky fiddlin'. And fast? Holy Shnikies!
Ramon Stagnaro: Guitar. He comes from Peru and you can tell. Damn good guitar player who utilizes his South American musical heritage. Lotsa rad spanish guitar stuff.
Pedro Eustache: Flautist. He must play about every flute in existance, not to mention he plays saxophone well enough to make Kenny G turn gansta rapper. I used to make fun of flute players until now.
Ming Freeman: Keyboards. Magnanimous. This guy's up there with Jordan Rudess.
Ric Fierrabracci: Bass. He's not an in your face player, but his tone was damn sweet. I think he used to play for Tower of Power or something like that.
Joel Taylor: Drums. Mr. Cymbal. He's the Mike Portnoy of the pop music world. I about wet my pants during his drum solo.
Danny Reyes, Percussion. This guy is Neil Peart on congos.
The whole show was just 3 hours of musical masterbation. The whole Tribute album makes all of Yanni's old stuff sound unfurbished. I suggest any open minded musician pick it up.

Once again, who gives a shit? I don't care if every one of my favorite bands list them as an influence. For me, Kiss was a band to like when I was 6-12 years old, and then I realized, you know, there are a hell of a lot of bands who can actually *play* their instruments. Sure, if I made it big in the music business, I would list Kiss as an influence, too, but only because they entertained me as a 7 year old boy.

I went to see him a couple of months ago here and it was great as well...i dont normally enjoy his discs but live its a whole other experience

No way, man. Just go to Britannica's site and check their on-line encyclopedia: <www.eb.com>. It's very good, IMO.
BTW, Niels Bohr was one of the first scientists to give a model of what we call an atom. I don't remember details of his model, but you can surely find more about this subject on their site.
You can also find out about the life of another famous chemist called Kekule and what is his connection with Bafu Vai. :-)) Go check it. :-)
BTW 2, every liquit has superficial tension (depending on your ability you can put a gillette to float on the surface of a cup of water, even though iron has a much higher density than water). Don't know if this has some connection to the name of the CD, but I think that there *is* some metaphorical sense to the title, as if the artists had such a high proficiency with their instruments (which they have) and if they have some kind of "fluidity" going between them, in some kind of connection that each artist could read the mind of the others, knowing in advance what the others were thinking of at any moment.
The Experiment part of the title is particularly easy to understand, since this is a side project. I don't know how far these metaphors go, and would love to hear other comments on that. But I digress.
I still haven't heard this damn CD, though, just the snipped posted on the web (thank you very much, Erica). :-(
