In a message dated 98-05-19 23:14:35 EDT, you write:
<< Check into the Rg-7620 before the UV's. The Rg 7 is just as good, it just doesn't have that pyramid shit all over it. My RG 7 plays great. I've had it for three weeks and haven't picked up my Ibanez Jem since and I thought that the Jem was a great guitar (it still is BTW). >>
One of the main reasons I want a UV over the RG is for the pyramid! It adds to the uniqueness of it. Nothing has beat my JEM's so far. I haven't had a guitar come close to it whatsoever.
<<> Andy D > The Next Steve Vai
Ha! I don't believe that for a minute!
Now THATS encouragement. And if you would have read my post about the tag, you'd realize what it actually meant and wouldnt have said anything about it. Andy D The Next Steve Vai

Hey Jammers:
It's "The Chick with the Burgandy Hair" again...LOL!!!! Okie dokie a Lady Jammer's POv of the HOB shows...
****SPOILER*****
I was on Derek's side of the stage both times but luckily on the rail more towards the center on Monday night so I could see Mike's face...his symbol blocked his antics most of sunday night until he played down center with the 2nd set. He's an ANIMAL...I swear that man has 8 limbs or something. My brother got his stick last night...much to my jealousy. Like ya read from Mike himself...Ray and Bruce came out...we were flipping out. Trevor and I kept looking at each other wondering what else was gonna happen that night. I'm still in Post Dream Theater bliss. Derek's is a rock star 100%...plays with his eyes closed and behind his back and even looks like he's making love to his keyboards at some moments (wicked grin and a purr). He was amazing. He didn't do Nicky Lemons...I was bumned. They were all feeding off the crowd's frenzy on Monday night...it was just amazing. I can't wait until they come to down again!!!!!! >Trevor, Rick, Calvin, (the girl who was by me bost nights who I can't remember your name ) - GREAT meeting you and Trev...hanging at the rail with you rocked. >Charlie: You managed to find me both nights! Wish you would have gotten up there and sang too!!!! >Derek - yes it was me in front. ;-) >Ian, Johnny, and Joey - my ears are still ringing...Fang was great on sunday after the show but wish we would have gotten there sooner.
Be good kids and let the short people in front and don't mosh the gals against the rails! Keep on jammin'!

Sorry for the clutter, gang. Mark, I lost your e-mail address. Could you e-mail me please? Thanks.
Started my summer job this week, which essentially means no time to read e-mail. If anything important's going on, someone let me know.
Oh, and my sweet, kind roommate turned off the long distance service when she moved out. (Thank Ged I'm moving Friday.) So, from now until the weekend, I can't call anyone. If you've been trying to get to me (Syrinx), call after about 9:00 pm or so, or just wait till Saturday.
Anyone know if/when there's a Baltimore or DC DT/DP/ELP show yet?
Brian Henderson: E-mail me. I have a tape for you.
People I owe tapes: Sorry for the continued delay. I'll get to everything Sunday, while I unpack in the new place (yay!).
That's it for now. -d

Standing at a whopping 5'1" and weighing in at 110 lbs, I must say I avoid mosh pits like the plague. If I am attending a Sepultura show, I will make sure I stay far, far away from the pit area. If I'm at a show where I don't expect a pit, I'll most likely try to be near the front. (Being short has MANY disadvantages). All I say is, to you moshers, it would be nice if you showed a little respect for your neighbor who is standing 3 inches away from you.............not everyone likes to participate.

Someone typed the following on their little keyboard: >I have little tolerance for rudeness or ignorance. >Common fucking courtesy, folks.
Hmm.. *Analyses the above sentences*
"I have little tolerance for rudeness" ... "Common Fucking Courtesy"
I don't get it.. He doesn't like people who are rude.. and uses one of the most well spiced words in the english vocabulary to prove his point.. Hmm.. I guess his self tolerance is higher then the tolerance for other people :)
Then over to the moshing... Okay.. I have to admit that I can't see myself headbanging and jumping up and down like an insane maniac to a Dream Theater tune.. Scuse me, but the music sorta doesn't quite fit in.. I mean, when we talk about Grunge, o-tay... Or bands like Pantera, megadeth and other heavy stuff..
But I can't see why others can't jump up and down.. I mean.. If moshing makes your experience of a concert any better, after all, moshing like a maniac for about fourty five minutes sure gets your pulserate going, and that at least creates a little outlet for the adrenaline rush that you are bound to have when listening to DT.
Mosh on, my fellow moshdudes.. I know I will.. But to Dream Theater? Nah.

>OK, here's an idea. If you guys want to mosh to Dream Theater, >here's what you do: >Get a bunch of guys over, put a DT CD in your stereo <snip>
Aaah.. Now I got it all clear.. First I go to the local pawn shop and see if they got any 30" speakers for sale, and preferrably a thousand watts amp, and a high quality CD player... Silently pray that you can get all that for under $200, And then I rig it all in my living room, start a moshpit, and everybody gets knocked out by jumping frantically into the quick rotating ceiling fan...
I don't think so.
The big point of a concert is that you get the "wall" of sound going... I mean.. C'mon.. Why do you go? yea.. It is an experience to see your fave band.. I admit that gladly.. But hey, the volume, and the people really getting into the music around you is the ATMOSPHERE (sp?)...
I personally think that seing the guys beat up the poor drums, rip apart the poor guitars and smash the synths is 49% of the fun.. 50% is the fans and the "vibes" that get going.. The last 1% is whatever you do after the concert (Hmm.. Not elaborating on that one)

Well, I AM 6' 6" and 250 pounds, so here's my side of the story:-)
I understand that I'm at a tremendous advantage at any concert where people are standing but I don't like to flaunt it, nor be unfair, nor piss anyone off. But, am I happy hanging out at the back of a room of a general admission show? Heck no, I want to get close to the action as much as anyone else. I can't control how tall I am any more than the rest of you. As a result I tend to do a lot of slouching when I know that there are shorter people behind me and I usually leave the venue with a backache - alas, knowing that my personal sacrifice was most likely unappreciated ;~(
You can hate me because I'm beautiful, Just don't hate me because I'm tall :-) Josh Becker josh@beyondthemirror.com http://www.beyondthemirror.com

"AAAAAARGHHH! RAPING! *RAPING* THE WOMEN AND CHILDREN! PUFF...MUST... DIIIIIEEEE!"
These were the final words heard from what had been the Hoyts Cinema on Rt.3 in Plattsburgh, NY, where, as we understand it, a young man by the name of Joshua Rasiel appears to have gone postal, mysteriously, after watching a sneak preview of the movie Godzilla.
As of now, no survivors have been found in the wreckage, except for some fat, old, stupid, moronic, pickup driving, Ames shopping, trailer park inhabiting, "Family Matters" watching guy named Cletus.
And back to you in the station, Dick.

You *can't*? Gee, maybe I am the only one who can control the length of his body at will, stretching like a rubber-band around the crowds. At least I get to wear a cool uniform (It has a 4 on it, not an X) and hang out with equally cool people... aww, ferget it... (sob) I want to be normal!
DT Content: The reason nobody saw Nicky Lemons was prolly because, according to a "press release" earlier in last week or so, it was mentioned that Nicky wouldn't be appearing at any of the rest of the tour, siting "contempt for prog" as the main reason... take that however you will.

I've been silently wondering, why not? The guy started off younger than Vai (or Petrucci) and if he keeps it up, who knows what he can do? Rowan Robertson was 17 when he played with Dio on "Lock Up The Wolves" and he was playing some really, really sick stuff. Secret? He started playing at the age of 5 and kept up with it. So don't dismiss the statement so easily, even if it sounds too pompous.
Jam related, isn't it? :-)

I have to laugh reading all the posts about moshing. I have to agree that moshing really doesn't belong at a DT or FW show (at least not FW after PS). When metal first started getting popular (or emerging from the underground) most shows had about 40-60 people (in Rochester, NY). It was basically the same people at every show and we had at modicum of unwritten etiquette. Moshing was friendly, violent fun where the object was to blow off steam while at the same time getting completely into the band. People did not intentionally try to hurt people (the pit looked a lot like a pinball machine with 20 pinballs in it). If someone fell the people in the immediate area helped them up, if someone stage dove then people caught them (well, there were a _few_ accidents). The reason for this was we felt lucky that club owners were having metal bands play, now everyone has the 'FUCK EVERYONE BUT MYSELF' attitude and that big oaf of a jock dildo only comes to the concert to see how many noses he can break. (Just look at the idiots in the pit at any Metallica concert in the past 8 years "you bumped into me so when you're not looking I'll bust your face") What makes things even sadder is when a kid gets hurt (from his own stupidity or someone else's) and the club gets closed down because he or his family sues the place because, well because that's what the greedy bastards in America call a winning lottery ticket. As far as 'personal space' goes at a concert...keep dreaming. As far as etiquette goes define some here and have the people start following it at a concert. People tend to learn by example if the _whole_ crowd does one thing others will tend to follow like lemmings.
Jim
