Yes. The crowd are German and they say : "jetzt gehts los".
"jetzt gehts los" means something like : "now it's gonna start".
Here in Germany, people say "jetzt gehts los" when they're waiting for
    a happening.

Sorry to bring this to the jam as I'm sure we've all heard too much of it,
but does anyone know Keith Menser's email address? I'm sick and tired of
waiting for my CD set. Private mail is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Supwitchall--
Just something funny: last night I was letting a friend hear DT for the
first time, and I chose I&W because I wanted to blow his mind with the
middle of Metropolis. As we were listening, he asked, "Do they have two
    drummers?"
I got a real kick out of that.

Hey all ... just thought I'd throw in my $.02 on the video (don't have the
CD yet, but it's on its way) ...

To be honest, I was expecting another LiT (which was good) ... what I got
was 3x as good. Absolutely LOVED the behind-the-scenes shit ... I wonder
how many marshmallows Mike actually had in his mouth there ;). Setlist was
great, I was very happy to see the "Damage, Inc." cover, and the unplugged
stuff was EXCELLENT (loved the new intro to LSOAD, and the extended TLF
solos*) ... the closing medley was a great way to end the video (LTL
ROCKED!!) *One complaint about this song ... Where is JP during his solo???
:-o ) Anyway, I've only seen it once, so I'm sure there will be a few
things I missed on the first viewing. Overall, great job Mike!

That's all for now ... looking forward to hearing OiaL very soon!!

I'd been lurking on this list for FOUR years and now, after mistakenly
typing UAGM instead of Scarred (in reference to the missing guitar
solo), I feel like such an idiot that I'm turning the lurk mode back on.
In another four years I'll try again.

    Ok,

Some people have asked which solos were performed by Bernie
Versailles on the new Fates disc, _Still Life_. Its not that hard to
figure them out yourself, simply pop in disc 2 and don the headphones.
Jim is allocated to Stage Right, so his guitar sound will come through
the left channel of your cans. Bernie's, therefore, will come through
the right channel. No offence, but is this really that difficult to
figure out? Ok, I realize sometimes the stage setup get switched around
backward in the mix (see: OiaL). This was how I figured all the old
Iron Maiden solo's (Live After Death).....

Greg, listen to it one more time. The solo is done at the beginning of the song in a little bit different format....If you listen closely, it's still there.....

Hmmm... I can't disagree with that except that I really despise those bulky things. :) I prefer slimline 2CD cases, as long as they don't fall apart. One week strong and my OiaL case is doing damn well. :) Speaking of Rush... It's damn great to be able to flip on the radio and hear Freewill jamming over the waves (Radio waves, splash in my head, to the rhythm that I crave...) Too bad I can't pick up Salt Lake's KBER where I live. I never really realized there were radio stations that played cool shit most of the time! All I get is country and oldies radio. :P

    > ...and I don'y like the fat-ass 2CD cases like Chrinicles and DM

Well, I didn't call them that... I hate to hurt their feelings, let's now refer to them as "spatially disabled."

    And OiaL was a great companion to a 2-hour road trip, I must say. :) -- KorgX3

hey there! all those missing the bass - stop listening to Petruccis solo all the time! ;) nah, to be serious. i think the sound is way cool. i like OIALs production. better than FII. but there is one thing that is not so perfect. especially in Pervuian and Petruccis solo there is some unnatural distortion in his sound. its only somewhere in the right field of the stereo image and it sounds like an overblown effects processor causing digital clipping.ugly thing. but it might as well only be a bad microphone. all in all nothing to really worry about, cos the sound in general is amazing!!! ytsegreetings

Hey all you 'jammers out there...

First, regarding the post in the last Jam-a-thon...

    >> -Greg, who wept like a child when he heard UAGM on OIALT end before the >> guitar solo

    >Errrrr....... It's really late, and i'm REALLY tired (so maybe I'm not >making any sense), but what what in the Sam-hill are you talking about? >Did you mean to say a different song? Last time I checked, Under a Glass >Moon wasn't on OIALT...

I think he speaks truth. I'm guessing, Greg, that you cried when you reached the end of Scarred... I know I destroyed some property when I realised John wasn't going to play his solo... alas, that's life.

Secondly, the other day BMG sent me Journey's Greatest Hits in the mail, 'cause I hadn't sent in my card. Well, I just kept that sucker, having fallen in love with the album over the summer while I borrowed it from my friend Heather. Plus, the new one is 20-bit remastered and sounds golden.

Anyhoo, I realised last night that this means I have four free CDs coming from those nice folks at BMG. I was thinking about diving into some King's X or FW, and was wondering if you KX and FW fans on the jam (last time I checked it was most of you) could advise me as to which to get first, or any other helpful suggestions for my free discs. Remember, they have to actually be carried by BMG, so don't tell me to buy "When Pus Comes To Shove." I can go to Music Boulevard for that. Thanks in advance, eh!

Before you read ANY of this...keep in mind that MTV would (unfortunately) never give DT the time of day....THIS IS A JOKE. A FUCKIN' JOKE! Treat it as such:

The following is an excerpt of an interview Mike Portnoy, the former drummer of Dream Theater, had with MTV today:

[first part of interview omitted because of damaged interview tape]

MTV: "What about Rena having the child?"

MP: "Well, John's decision on going to his wife's side in her time of need was just fuckin' ridiculous. I mean, we're in the studio, the four of us, trying to cut a new album to get ourselves through the next 3 months, ya know? No record - no money. How the fuck are my kids supposed to live without daddy bringing home the bacon? It was totally a selfish move on John's part."

MTV: "So what is next for you?"

MP: "I dunno. I was thinking about going solo, like Zappa? But, then again, I don't smoke enough shit to write stuff like that. I was thinking about filling in as drummer for the Pumpkins, cuz their drummer overdosed on heroin. It would certainly be a step in the right direction in terms of money because the Pumpkins have already sold out and they are bringing in the dough."

MTV: "What does Dream Theater plan on doing? Are they going to find a replacement for you?"

MP: "I've heard rumours that they aren't going to replace me. Go figure -- fuckin' stupid move if you don't ask me. But then again, who do you fill my shoes with? I'm THE BEST. YOU HEAR ME GUYS, THE BEST!! Fuck, it doesn't matter who they fill my shoes with -- have the No Doubt drummer step in... see if I care. DT will lose their balls and chunk without me."

MTV: "Wow, it sounds like you have a lot of hatred towards your former bandmembers."

MP: "Well, wouldn't you be pissed off if you were me? I mean, first you have John Myung who doesn't fucking talk. Then there is Petrucci who wishes he could be as good as Slash. Fuckin' James LaBrie can't tell an eskimo from a fuckin' dolphin -- you know how those Canadians can be...and then Derek. Don't start me on Derek."

    MTV: "What about Derek?"

MP: "The drugs...the women. He's not in it for the music. He could give a shit about Dream Theater. He uses the band as a way to get laid every night of the year. If women only knew that Derek has AIDS, then maybe they wouldn't be so quick to jump into bed with a 'rock star'."

    MTV: "Derek has AIDS?"

MP: "Yeah...he contracted it somewhere in Europe. In Holland I think. We were in Amsterdam smoking up in some cafe and then Derek went along the boulevard and paid for 5 women at once for 5 hours. One of them hookers must've given to him. Anyways, that's what inspired Derek to write the music for Anna Lee... it's Queen influence came from the fact that Freddy Mercury also had AIDS."

MTV: "Wow, I guess you never can tell..."

MP: "Well, did you know that John Myung had throat cancer? Why the fuck do you think he's the 'Silent Man'? He lost his fuckin' voice box due to laryngitis. Before the Awake sessions, he had a laryngectomy and couldn't speak since."

MTV: "One last question Mike...have you regretted any of your past as a member of Dream Theater?"

MP: "Well, when it was the four of us back in John Petrucci's garage writing demos...back when Kevin was in the band, I was looking forward to a successful career. I knew we had something. And, when we got Dominici, I definitely thought that was it. But, after Charlie left the band, things started going downhill...James joined, which just wasn't the same -- he couldn't sing like Charlie...and then AIDS freak had to replace Kevin cuz Kevin realized that DT wouldn't go anywhere with James....I guess I should have bailed the same time Kevin did and started writing with him. We could have been a good combo -- you know, like Hall & Oates. But, that would've ended in about 5 years, cuz of Kevin's testicular cancer. I guess we'll see where this crazy game called life takes me next. Without a doubt though, I know I'm going to the top, and I don't have to worry about those other 4 DT thugs holding me back."
