There are many possible causes (or probably, any number of them
happening together):
* the medium you choose has low quality;
* your CD-R drive doesn't recalibrate (automatically) the laser
beam intensity to the needs of the medium (as you know, the media don't
have a completely smooth surface and this affects the burning process) --
the technique of recalibration of the recording laser beam is called
"Running OPC". If you still don't have a CD-R but are planning on buying
one, make sure that your drive has Running OPC;
* the CD player has poor electrical devices/digital sector.
These are just the most common problems, but there are many
others. The most probable causes are the first two.
On a completely different note, another common problem about
CD-ROM/CD-R drives is the problem of extraction of audio files -- if your
drive doesn't have high precision, it may miss lots of samples of the song
(or read them incorrectly). This problem becomes evident when you're
copying a live show where all the tracks are supposed to be flowing
continuously into one another. If your drive didn't extract them properly,
you may be able to listen a very brief click in the boundaries of the
tracks.
My drive had this problem until I upgraded its firmware -- if your
drive doesn't have upgradable memory and you notice these extraction
problems, then you're stuck. To see if your drive can extract tracks
faithfully, try to extract the same track more than once and compare the
files you obtain -- if they differ, then your drive isn't that good to
copy audio at the speed you tried; try extracting audio at lower speeds.
If you're already extracting audio at single speed, then your drive isn't
appropriate for the duty. If, on the other hand, the files are identical,
this doesn't mean that your drive will always produce 100% ok copies.
Hope this helps, Roger...

You could be right again Rhys-butt.
Madam X featured Maxine Petrucci on guitar and Roxy Petrucci (Vixen) on drums but they are no relation to Johnny P (he told me so, see interview with DT in Hard RoxX January 1998!).
They played on a British Rock Show over here back in May 1985 on Channel 4, called ECT. However, I wouldn't agree they were crap because I was there on the day and they kicked but butt (ha ha racist Welsh joke) and had some real ATTITUDE, but (oops sorry that one was not intentional) please note I didn't mention the sheep ...........
Maxine Petrucci has joined the new Vixen line-up as bassist. I recently did a mini interview with her which featured in the September issue of Bassist magazine (UK) as part of the girlie bass players feature they were doing.
Vixen were supposed to be filling the support slot to Deep Purple on their forthcoming tour but they are no longer doing it. Any news anyone?

Why do you define non-unification as "DT fans will never listen Bush and vice versa"? I thought we talked about this before, we shouldn't expect other people to like and listen the same music as we do! IT just doesn't have any sense! Everyone has right to choose what music he likes. And someone choice does not by any mean define it as GOOD or BAD!
Again, diversity is nice!
As for the unification, I'm optimist about it. Why would the world not unify? I don't agree with those above words. Desire for happines is in everyone and I don't believe that some folks JUST LOOOVE to hurt others. So, if we're not doing anythjign for the world, at least let's not make it more difficult.
Ooops, we might break some of the rules on the jam so.... :)

I didn't pay much attention to the rest of the site, but as far I could understand it was some girl site who decided by herself to do this stuff - voting! If that's it: It IS a cool idea, but what's the end result of it all? Any practical, substantial positive apsect of it?

Hey, fuck you, pal. Damn international hatred brewing there. :) Actually, Garth was pretty big awhile back. It's funny when you look at the musical trends in the US. Most of the mainstream pop music is listened to by high school/college level kids. Most country is listened to by beer-swilling, bar-hopping, blue collar workers. And I've noticed most of the good ol' rock n' rollers are the technical minded people who hang around the 'net. Pretty weird. I can't say that I've met many country fans on the 'net, save a few bumpkins that figured out the difference between the phone pole and their lynchin' tree. :)
No offense to any beer-swillin', bar-hopping, lynchin', inbreedin' backhill bumpkins was intended. Hell, I'm with all of ya, just look at my family tree. :)
And as far as this Song of the Millenium thing goes... I really feel it's bullshit to even attempt something like that when I thought about it. You're asking the people who lived at the last 50 years out of a thousand to vote? What about the other 550 years worth of people? Don't they get a say? Huh? Dickheads. I bet Greensleeves would win if it the voting wasn't so down on dead people. I oughtta get my great grandpappy to sue the bitch running the voting for mortical harrassment or something.
