And also the same Billy White who's currently left all music behind him,
from what I hear. Last I heard, White has not only left the music business
completely, but has gone into a religious calling and won't even touch a
guitar anymore. Never can tell what sort of stuff people are going to get
into, can you? :)

A question for YES fans !
I've the following CD's :
Close To The Edge (remastered)
Fragile (remastered)
Tales From Yesterday - A Tribute To Yes
Keys To Ascension I
Keys To Ascension II
My questions is, which Yes album should I buy next ?
Which other Yes albums are a must have ?
What about "Union" ?
Thank you in advance.

Chris Cornell sang backup and cowrote two songs on Cooper's
"Last Temptation," "Stolen Prayer" (I think that's the name of it.
It's the ballad anyway) and "Unholy War." Both great songs. I
seem to remember hearing a version of one or both of these songs
on a Soundgarden single as B-Sides, too, but I could be way wrong
on that. Anyway, I totally dig his voice. Badmotorfinger is one of
my favourite workout CDs :).

I would say stick with the older stuff, if you really like it, since it's
considered the to be Yes's classic stuff in terms of "proginess".
(Proginess?) But regardless, by "The Yes Album" next. Note: the first
three releases of the band are "Yes", "Time and a Word", and "The Yes
Album". Confusing similar names on the first and third album. Get the
third album. Steve Howe's first with the band, it's where they really
start to attain their classic sound, even though Wakeman isn't with them
yet. Next, I would say pick up "Going for the One", recorded after Wakeman
returned, and then pick up "Relayer", which is brilliant but a bit
different. It's from the point between "Tales of the Topographic Oceans" -
after Wakeman left - and his return with "Going..." Then I would suggest
"Tales...", which is a double concept album, but it's not very accessible.
If you can find time to buy "Talk" in there...it was released in the early
90s. Trevor Rabin on guitar...hell, Trevor Rabin pretty much on
everything. But lots of prog-metal fans seem to find "Talk" as the most
accessible Yes album. I believe it's out of print, but you might have some
luck at cut-out bins, etc...
Good luck

It was released as part of the mini CD provided in the first run of the
Japanese FII. I think that something like the first 10K CDs in Japan
received this mini CD as a bonus. The version of TAMP was the original
version without the "Club Kokomo" percussion of FII (that ruins the song for
me). It also included Speak To Me !!

YIKES !!!!!!! I have to disagree with this 100%. Unfortunately, being sort
of a "session drummer", he gets placed in a variety of situations, not all
of which are conducive to showing his talent.
Some of Steve's best work was with Chick Corea during Chick's mid-late 70's
time period. Get Chick Corea's "Friends" album and put on the last track
"Cappuccino". And realize that this album was done on one take. Jaw
dropping drum work. Even for more popular music (Steely Dan's "Aja") I dont
feel that one can say "not very prog".
Too much time on my hands .....

The song that you are thinking of is 'Stolen Prayer'

Hmm...
I guess I'd go for my supergroup to be:
Guitar: Me. 'Cuz my ego's just that damn big. Deal with it.
Vocals: Chris Cornell--best voice of any mainstream 90's band.
Drums: Stewart Copeland
Bass: John Paul Jones--he could also arrange.
Piano: That piano playing Marx brother--I always forget his name, but he kicks
ass. He's so cool.
I have no idea just what this group would play, of course...
Other than that...hmm...DTC...uh...oh, forget it. What is this, a DT mailing list

Relayer. Relayer. Relayer. Did I say relayer? You could also go for the Yes
album, if it isn't in your list. I would avoid union right now. Going for
the One is another cool CD, and you might want to try 90125 or an Evening
of Yes Music. Actually, Union has some cool tracks on it, but I would avoid
right now and wait. I would also pass on Tales from Topographic oceans for
right now, it is a tremendous amount of material to try to digest and there
are much better discs out there. I would also recommend Yes Songs and Yes
Shows. Those are the 2 Yes live albums from the 70s. That is all.

Hotline is a GREAT program. I highly recommend it to everyone. Period.
For those of you who have hotline already, or plan to get it, I run a

It's on a static IP, so be sure to bookmark it.

That is correct. the person asked if there were any promos out
with TAMP on it, and there isn't (as far as I know). The first edition of
the Jap FII did come with the 3" with the two songs mentioned above.

That was actually something I did consider. It raises another question
though... When is it the right time to make the final, this is it... no more
no way is it gonna get any better than this shit... Remaster? If you do it
too soon then in a few months you could have done it better, and if you
continue to wait then you never get it done at all!
I guess you cant help but feel like you've been a little gipped (sp?) when
you have to go and replace your entire Rush cd collection that replaced your
"Ultimate Rush on Vinyl" collection with yet another round of full price
remastered acquisitions...
>You don't have a problem with opening your hard drive on the net?
not really... since the computer I use for these purposes is not one that
will devestate me if it goes down. I'd just start all over. Of course... if
your using your computer for business purposes or its imperative that your
computer be reliable and ready to use at a moments notice you shouldn't be
fooling with this kind of shit anyways.
Take the same philosophy that many business' take in regards to the
internet. Don't let anything that you would mind being hacked ever get
hooked up to the internet. Keep that vital computer you use to keep all your
records and one of a kind files (which you should backup of course) away
from playing on the internet. If you can....
>Any file sharing you allow online, especially in the mp3 trading community

I wasnt necessarily advocating the kind of illegal mp3 trading that goes on
with lots of korn, mettalica and top40 stuff but more of a trading between
friends sort of idea. for example if there is someone on the Ytsejam that
wants to hear a mp3 of a new band that been coming up again and again then
someone could email that person up and say "next time I'm online you can
access that file from me".
I'd be willing to bet that
>there's someone who's already found a way around the safeguards on this

There's always risk involved.... thats part of the fun.

good idea but this has been around for a while. it's called FTP servers.
Dr. Mosh has one. i have one. as do many people. I hgaven't tried
hotline, but what i udnerstand it adds is the built-in chatting. But i
dont see why you can't just have an ftp server running, and then AOL IM or
IRC or ICQ or whatever your chatting software of choice is running at the
same time. Then your files are still available when you log off of the
chat (but of course you can shut down the ftp server if you want to make
them not available). as far as ftp servers, the one i reccommend is the
War FTP Daemon. It's freeware and yet is one of the best ones i've tried.
You can incorporate ratios, block or allow only certain IP's, easily set
up intricate file access rules, etc. You can get it at Tucows
(http://www.tucows.com/). Moo.
