Well, it's that time of the month, I guess.

    > > Cute is never beautiful.
    > Huh?
Actually, that's wrong; cute is RARELY beautifull. Btriney Spears is
CUTE - she's on the TV in a schoolgirl's getup, and catches you're
interest for a moment. Beauty is when you can't take your eyes off
them while you're awake, and you see their face every time you close
your eyes. The two terms are ALMOST self-cancelling, although not
ALWAYS - Alison Hannigan from Buffy, for example.

    > Do yourself a favor and get some AIC. Their vocals kick lots of ass.
No thanks. And no, the vocals don't kick ARSE by the sound of it
(although they may well kick donkeys, I wouldn't know). Not unless
they sound COMPLETELY different to the ABiTWpt2 vocals. Maybe he
could try singing without drinking a few pints of vodka first.

Well, I'll let you guess, 'cos you're wrong. III Sides is the only
Extreme album I've heard. It's lame. Not only that, you claim that
Aerosmith are "easily the most commercial band of the decade" - well,
I'd say they run a close second to this shambles of a band. This is
about as close to the ideal "Radio friendly rock unit shifter" I've
ever heard. I'll grant you though, Nuno Bettencourt is a quite good
guitarist; but even there, "Schizophonic" was better than this. I
will rip anything that deserves it, thanks.

    > > Hendrix's good-day arse ANYDAY!
    >
    > And there he goes...an entire foot in his mouth!
    > <Cue audience applause>
Hmm...That's a well-reasoned critique of my statement that Hendrix -
whilst inarguably the most influential "rock" guitarist ever - is
equally inarguably the most overrated. My congratulations to you on
displaying to us the full gamut of your cognative functions.

    > > Oh dear. I don't know any of AIC's stuff,...
    > > NOT EVER PLAYING: Alice In Chains.
    >
    > And yes folks! There it goes! Two entire feet in the
    > mouth at the same time! A new Guiness World Record!
Uh-huh. Well, I guess I'll have to follow this guy, who sets a new
world record for incomprehension not once but TWICE in one post.
Maybe it's just me, but if the vocals are lame, I can't enjoy a band
    - probably why WDADU just isn't my thing. Thus, I'd say it was
entirely reasonable that given Lame n' Stale's abominable vocal
efforts ruining one of my favourite songs that I wouldn't like to
hear an entire album full of the useless little cunt.

    > >Oh dear. I don't know any of AIC's stuff, but I heard Mr Lame n'
    > >Stale's attempts at "singing" on "Another Brick In The Wall pt2" from
    > >the Faculty soundtrack.
    > listen to a bit more before you criticize. Staley is one of my favorite
I criticised his efforts on ABITWpt2, not AIC stuff, since I've not
heard AIC. Neither do I intend do.

    Hi everyone

Just got the new DC Cooper (Royal Hunt) solo album. It's fantastic.=20
I'm sure most of you will love it.

    The Musicians :

DC Cooper - Vocals (Royal Hunt)
Alfred Kooffler - Guitars (Pink Cream 69)
    Tore Ostby - Guitars (Conception)
Dennis Ward - Bass (Pink Cream 69)
Kosta Zafiriou - Drums (Pink Cream 69)
G=FCnter Werno - Keyboards (Vanden Plas)

DC's voice is unbeliveble. The songs are more guitar oriented than Royal =
    Hunt.

The album has great melodic songs. The song "The Union" is a masterpice w=
    ith=20
progressive elements. "Unitl The End" is such a beautifull ballade.

Overall a must have, not only for Royal Hunt & Pink Cream 69.

DC Cooper's album is released by Inside Out Music in Europe.

    Get it now.=20

How dare you!!!! Extreme's vocals are perfect, I've never heard anything like that in any other band, and the most important thing, they could do them live.

    >> Oh dear. >Let me guess, you've never heard this either? Try listening to music >before you rip it. Awesome guitars on this album. Well said, but I would like to add a couple of things.

1)The orchestra arrangements were made by Nuno and Mike Moran (not Michael Kamen).

2)There are NO shitty songs in that album. That's one of the best albums in rock & roll history, if you don't think so go ask the guys from DT.

I was reading in one of my guitar magazines about a band called VAST or Video Audio Sensory Theater. I have seen this band mentioned here a few times very recently and was wondering if anyone could tell me more about them. In the article I read it said that the guitar player is the mastermind of the band and also was a kid prodigy and had albums put out on Shrapnel records in the 80's

To the person who asked about Rhapsody, they are an amazing Italian band. Their style is like power metal mixed with prog elements and with orchestral arrangements and choirs. They are very classically influenced, although in a different way from, say, Yngwie Malmsteen. Rhapsody's sound is very medieval, and with fantasy lyrics about dragons and stuff. All of the musicians are very good, and the lead singer is great as well. If you've heard Symphony X and Angra, then picture Rhapsody as a mix between those two plus more. Both of their albums are very good, so get whichever one you want (some people prefer "Symphony of Enchanted Lands" over "Legendary Tales", but they're both great). Right now I'm listening to Nightwish on Real Audio, and I would say they sound similar to Rhapsody, although I think Rhapsody has more prog elements in their songs, and the classical interludes in Rhapsody's songs are just killer. Hope that helps.

Alice In Chains hasn't broken up. They're STILL waiting for Layne Staley to get his shit together and ditch the heroine. I'm not sure if it's been released yet, but AIC has put together a box set w/ a couple new songs they just recorded with Layne on vocals. No plans for a new album quite yet. I heard Layne is still in such bad shape, some of his teeth have fallen out! A local DJ here in Minn. said if you listen closely to his vocals on the "Another Brick.." remake, you can tell he's missing his teeth. Now I haven't heard the song since he said that, so I don't know if you can actually hear that, but also wouldn't he get some fake teeth to wear to prevent "lisping"? Who knows. Can anyone confirm that? -JK

How are you, this is my first post to the list. Let me tell you about my Gig from hell. I was a guitarist in this band. 8 A. M. - Bus breaks down 9:30 - Get everything loaded into a U-Haul 10 - Get started on the drive ( 6 Hours) 11:30 - Van pulling U-Haul goes down a hill too fast, spins the van around a couple of times and hits the ditch. 12 P.M. - Get van out of ditch and keep on going. 2 - Pulled over by the police, searches everything. 3 - Keep on going. The other guitar player in the band tells the singer that he should learn to sing better. (We're not even there yet) 6 - Arrive at the gig, have to wait until the stripper finishes her show. 6:02 - Bass player realizes that he has left all his cords at home. 6:03 - Other guitar player tells bass player that he should learn to play the bass better. 7:00 - Bouncer introduces our soundman. Calls him "Bleeding Ears." Not a good sign. 8:30 - Set-up complete. Can't hear myself. No-one can hear anybody else. Nothing coming through the monitors. Can't figure it out. Damaged in the crash? Soundman finally turns the volume up on the board. Looks at me with a stupid grin on his face. 10 - Gig starts. Everything is going all right. 1:30 A.M.- During a set break, the soundman duct tapes my guitar cord to the lights. I don't notice until I try to sing some background vocals. I can't reach my mike. Later, I ask him why he did that. He says : "It looked like it was getting in your way." 2 - Last set, girl does a handstand in front of the band. Skirt goes up over her head. The singer walks over to me and (while holding his mike away from his face) asks me if I checked out her ass. Unfortunately he was right by MY mike, the whole thing goes out over the P.A. Between songs, her boyfriend tells me he'll see me later. But,luckily, he gets into a fight during our last song and is thrown out. I slip the bouncer $20 later. 3- The gig is over, retreat to the shitty band room and watch T.V. Burt Reynolds in Stroker Ace.

    - Rob Reid

Hehe!! Kind of ironic that ya brought this up tonight!! Just got back from the place where I played one of the worst gigs of my life (back in 93), if not the worst!! First, the gig was on a Wednesday night!! What a shitty night for a new, up and coming band top play, but it was one of the more prestigious clubs to play in the area, so we took it. That night, it was pooring rain. Now, we had publicized the hell out of this gig. We did 2 radio interviews for the college radio station, did an ad in the paper, and put up flyers all over the place. Well, we had a huge turn out, which surprised us!! : ) We thought, "Oh yeah! Tonight's our night!!" NOT!! During the soundcheck, things were dragging a bit, but that was typical. Usually if our soundcheck sucked the show was usually great. We had been working with this female singer to do some background vocals on a couple of songs. Her and our lead singer had "supposedly" been working it out and sounding great. We only did one practice with the combo, though, which was a HUGE mistake!! : ( She was SO bad!! Plus, he kept messing around with the songs and causing her to mess up (he was a bit of a flake anyway), and then shit got REAL bad!! : ( Our drummer couldn't decide what tempo to play, the keyboards were WAY too loud, and my amp had continuous feedback!! : ( Needless to say, I really wanted that night over, as did the rest of the crowd!! : ( After the show, I tried to explain to the owner that it was just a bad night, that we were usually pretty good, but he wouldn't hear it. From then on, we were blacklisted from that club!! That was my gig from hell!! Talk to everyone later!! : )
