I have to agree with this, even though the net doesn't apply to me.
I've seen DT in CT 3 times: New London (El 'n Gees), New Haven
(Toad's) and Hartford (Webster Theater). My vote is a BIG thumbs
up to the Webster. Probably the 2nd best club I've ever seen DT in,
    to the Strand (R.I.P.)

I too went to the show at Toads Place in New Haven (x mas show 98, accoustic
set) I also saw DT there on their first date of the FII tour. Both shows
will always be in my memory for many different reasons. Reason #1, The
accoustics at Toads is superb. Probably the best venue that I have ever
heard DT at (I've seen them at two other places). Reason #2 The crowd
isn't rowdy and they are mostly musicians...I know that this is usually the
way DT shows are, but I have seen them at other places where the crowd got a
bit more rowdy than I wanted them to be. Reason #3 I took an under-ager
with me to Toads for that christmas show. I too, was very disappointed with
the "net" situation at the show. This has not always been the case, as with
the first show I saw from the FII tour (Fall 97). I wouldn't want to see
the venue "taken off" the tour list. I would however, like to see it be an
    all-ages show.
A simple way to handle the problem would be to designate a "drinking
only" area. Get your drink, drink it, and then return to the general area.
I didn't drink while I was there (I had to drive back to NH afterwards.. and
I was tired already, I was also responsible for the lives of the people
riding in my car) The designated drinking area was set up for the first show
that I went to see there. It worked fine. I couldn't understand why they
would screw with the original plan if it was working fine.
You could do what I did, but would not work in every situation. My
friend (who is 22 also) gave his ID to his younger brother through the net,
and it worked.. the guy checking IDs was just looking at the age, not the
picture. We pulled one off and saw the show in style.
Toads rocks... I would hate to see it removed from the tour schedule.

    That's how interesting they were!

Anyway, like there aren't enough whiners here, ... Why I can't download
some of the Bear Tracks movies clips? :( 2 I could, but others nope, no
way! I enter media both for user and password but my Gozzil aagain
doesn't find the path. What the heck? I tried it at least 5 times.

I know the feeling! I had just turned 18 when I saw DT at Toad's Place, and as a Los Angeleno visiting the east coast, I didn't know if I would get thrown out on my butt like I would here if I had stood up on the bar to see, like I wanted to. It was kinda nice in the back, not having to deal with hordes of sweaty people, but every time I moved my head so I could see Petrucci, a column blocked James or another band member. I ended up watching the screen in the back, by the door. I'm really glad I went to Irving Plaza the next day and saw them again.

i was just surfing around and came across this great site: www.vidnetusa.com - they have a bunch of videos in realplayer format there which you can watch, they can`t be downloaded unfortunately. And before anyone asks, NO, there aren`t any videos by "the boys" there... it might not be much, but i finally got to see Bruce Dickinson`s "the tower", "the killing floor", trans-siberian orchestra "christmas eve Sarajevo"... hell they even have two videos by Mercyful Fate - "witches dance" and some other one, i can`t remember the name but they`re both off of new album. Hell, i didn`t even know that Diamond did videos with Fate... there`s a King`s X "Fade" and... go and check it out!

p.s. BEWARE! lots of Limp Bizkit and Korn videos... and Britney Spears` "baby one more time" of course :-))

That's the second time Myung speaks in a video. He also says "i'm feeling kinda spooky" in live at Tokyo. Believe u me, that's really rare.

And about the Original ACOS, yeah, i thought of that, but guess John didn't wrote the original ACOS with a high B, because the really Original ACOS is in Intrumental II, i guess John didn't used the 7 string guitar there. Anyway, i need the tabs of the original ACOS, please, anyone

    Hey Vince -

I'm friends with the guys in Altura. The last time I talked to them, they were still a band, but not playing progressive metal anymore. They were no longer signed to Magna Carta, either.

As far as Auditory Imagery, they are a great band. I had a low budget video that they made for one of their songs. It was a little cheesy, but still cool for an unsigned band.

    Hi, folks!

Well, it seems that I've found myself with one too many promo copies of Mullmuzzler/Keep it to Yourself. But, it's not my intention to get everyone on the list pissed at me because of my embarrassment of riches. So, the only thing to do is to 'share the wealth!'

But then, how do I decide who to give it to? Well, let's have a little fun! I will give this extra copy of Mullmuzzler away to the first person who can correctly answer the following questions:

    1. What track from the Mullmuzzler CD did I use for the soundbite in The Artist Shop?

    2. On what date do I have planned an IRC chat with James LaBrie?

    3. What is your correct name and mailing address?

Clarification of the above - when I say give away, yes, I do mean I'll send it to you first class mail free of charge (unless you want me to send it registered or something like that, then I'll charge you for the shipping). 'Correctly answer' means an answer sent to me, not the list.

Regarding question one, no need to guess! You can find the answer! Regarding question two, sorry, in this case you'll have to guess. I just got off the phone with James LaBrie an hour ago and that's when we set the date, so I haven't had time to put the date up on the site and that probably won't happen for a few days. Now, it's possible that this date could change due to unforeseen circumstances, but for the purposes of this little contest, I want the date James and I just set.

As soon as I get the correct answers, I'll post the answers to 1 & 2 to the list and the name of the winner (but not his or her mailing address, sorry).

And one more thing, the winner has to post a review of the album after they get it ;-)

    Ready,

    Set,

    Go!

So I was perusing the mikeportnoy dot com yesterday (nice site BTW), and whilst reading one of the sections I noticed something. Tacked on to the end of the music section is the sentence "He is also a fan of rap music." Its on UACM as well (since the text was taken from that site), and I think I saw it somewhere else in an interview. But it's always in footnote form, sorta like "Oh yea, Mike is a fan of Maiden and Metallica, and-he-is-also-a-member-of-the-Wu-Tang-clan." Care to elaborate Mr. Portnoy? I mean, real rap is just about as alternative to the mainstream as prog is, so one can like rap and still be as anti-establishment as most ytsejammers. Or is it a part of the drummer's creed to promise to listen to all rhythm based music?

    -davek

ps: and skadz, could you PLEASE get a mime filter or something for the jam, this is starting to get sick. I think just about the last 20 jams have had at least one MIME message in it.

Hey, I saw this information on the prog-reviews mailing list:

Pete Trewavas (Marillion) has just recently returned from Millbrook studios in upstate New York, where he was working with Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Neal Morse (Spock's Beard) and Roine Stolt (Flower Kings) on a 'prog supergroup' of sorts. Pete had a lot of fun and said he had the opportunity to "do things that we wouldn't normally do in our respective bands" and that he enjoyed "playing like Paul McCartney all week!"

Yet another collaboration to look forward to...
